Members John81
I was reading the latest (9-19-08) issue of Sword of the Lord today and noticed an advertisement for a movie entitled: As With Roses: The true untold story of Obadiah Holmes Has anyone seen this movie? Website:http://www.shilohweb.org/ andhttp://www.shilohweb.org/films.htm They have a video trailer you can watch on their websites, but with dial-up, I can't watch them. From the second website, about the movie: The road to religious freedom is one that is bathed in the blood of Baptist persecution. "As With Roses" is the compelling true story of Obadiah Holmes, a Baptist preacher who lived in 1651, just as the early American colonies were being established. His commitment to sharing the Baptist doctrine of faith was a serious threat to the standing order of the Congregational Church and its governing authority. When Obadiah openly denounces that authority, and the practice of infant baptism, he is arrested and subjected to cruel punishment that goes beyond the level of offenses. "As With Roses" is a story of religious persecution, of Baptist perseverance in the face of immense suffering, and of God's amazing deliverance. I would love to see a movie based on the life of Obadiah Holmes. :thumb We also know that God uses "Ordinary people"...and, "YES"...there are so many people like this that they can start writing movies about. That would be quite a testimony to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Getting rid of the Hollywood garbage and replacing those movies with righteous Godly movies...would improve the state of our world and nation. :smile At least it could be a start, ya know? "Out with the old...and in with the new." People are getting more and more receptive to hearing the word of God. These movies would be wonderful! Members TheBibleSender
I really liked the movie 'Beyond the Next Mountain" about a young boy who goes out from his remote village in India so he can translate the Bible into the language of his people. It's the true story of Rochunga Podiate...really awesome story.quote] I seen that movie after I was first saved. It was probable one of the movies that gave me a heart to send bibles around the world. I highly reccomend watching Flywheel. It doesn't have the budget of Giants but has a great message. It caused me to tear up several times. :hide God bless. :)

Members Ashlee
Someone from my school tried to tell me to watch a movie called "The Outsider". apparently it is a Hallmark movie about an Amish woman, has anyone heard of it? I'm reluctant to look for it until i know what it is like.
Members John81
The Perfect Stranger...isn't that the movie where the woman meets a man at a restaurant for a meeting and that man claims to be Jesus? If that's the movie, I actually caught that on TV a year or so ago. It was pretty good. Not much action or anything, mostly centered around the two of them talking, but the dialogue was great and kept a good pace.

The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that the "jesus" character orders a bottle of wine. Other than that it does a pretty good job of answering some tough questions that people have. God bless. :)
Members deafnva77
I am hearing from people that Fireproof really touch people's marriage, and that lot of them go teary eyed (even men) They say it is a very good movie. Probably one of the movie that even secular Americans should watch as much as they get divorced. Lareliw

It is a great film! The Christian message of hope is clear in the movie and the message about marriage is inspiring. I encourage you to get out to see one of the best films around. (sidelight: Fireproof ranked 4th in gross sales last weekend. Fireproof was on 839 screens while the #1 movie was on 3510 screens (four times as many!) # 2 and # 3 were on 2704 and 2467 screens respectively.) Isn't it just sickening the way they limit the amount of theatre pick it up or I should say the was very few theatres pick it up. Imagine how well it would have done if it was as in as many as the number one movie. But then we wouldnt want a christian film to be number one at the box office. God bless. :)
