Considering the fountains of the deep broke forth and the whole earth was covered in water, the topology of the whole would have been drastically changed since before the flood and there is now no possible way to say with certainty where the Garden was.

The flood changed everything.

I agree.

For some reason, there are some Christians today who buy into these "ancient astronaut" theories and try to tie these into Scripture.

There are so many theories, but when one compares Scripture with Scripture, the truth is there and that truth stands in stark contrast to these wild theories of our origins coming from aliens, God travelling around in a UFO, God creating a primordial soup and then leaving and letting that soup simmer until evolution took over, etc.

Ever see those ancient astronaut pictures from south America where they are laying back in what they try to make you think is an ancient space craft.  Well those were not astronauts they depictions of the priest of those temples star gazing, they were recording the stars and mapping the heavens and the movement of the sun, moon and stars.

What's amazing is how these ancient astronaut folks try to tell us what certain carvings and artwork are and just how many people instantly accept that without actually taking a look at the whole. When looked at OBjectively it's usually pretty clear we are looking at a pagan priest studying the stars, priests or leaders dressed in their tribal masks and similar easily explainable things.

The fact many of these pagan peoples claimed to be descended from the stars, or God, or gods; and that some of their rulers claimed to be divine themselves, in no way even suggests that they were in contact with "ancient astronauts", let along offers proof.

When considered in light of Scripture, it's clear that after the Lord scattered people they carried with them what they remembered of God, what He had revealed to them up to that time and some aspects of history in relation to that. Over time as the people moved away from God they lost touch with the facts and filled stories in with their own inventions. This is why around the world there are so many creation stories and flood stories which are similar to that which we read of in Scripture.

Most believe, and if the rivers we know of are still those rivers, that Eden was located somewhere in Mesopotamia, prOBably around the area of modern Iraq. Yet as David pointed out above, since the flood wiped out Eden and changed much of the topography of the whole earth, we can't know for certain.

As to oil and such, America has huge, untapped oil reserves which they have estimated could fully fuel the nation for like 400 years. Typically they greatly underestimate the amount of oil so there may be even much more oil there than the believe.

There are also great oil reserves in Russia, which if made readily accessible could offer fuel for centuries too.

Returning to the Middle East, there is already vast oil reserves known there and oil prices could be cheap tomorrow if those nations were to go into full production. However, they like hundred dollar a barrel oil so they purposefully keep oil production at a pace which will keep prices up. While a major new oilfield find, once online, might drop prices some, it's more likely the OPEC nations would work out a production plan that would keep prices high in order to add to their already vast wealth stockpiles.

It's pretty easy to figure out the area where Eden was... duh.

BTW, I firmly believe that the "motherload" of oil lays yet undiscovered beneath Babylon (aka: Iraq).

Now, India and China (and other countries) are desperately searching the world for crude oil,

and when it "gushes forth" from Babylon, the entire world will be provided with very very cheap petroleum.

You heard it here first folks.

Rev 17:5 Mystery Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth

I have to disagree!!!

The motherload of oil is not beneath Iraq.

It's under my Toyota!  lol.
