After a Christian dies

When we die the Holy Spirit takes our spirit to heaven where we get a new body like Jesus had after his resurrection. See 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 KJV

2 Corinthians 5:1-10

1 For we know that if a our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house  not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven,

3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked.

4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life.

5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also f has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord.

7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.

10  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ,  that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

At the time of the resurrection Jesus calls up our earthly bodies after the old nature and sin are removed and our heavenly body is put on over our earthly body as a cloak. Our two bodies become one body.

1 Corinthians 15:50-57

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

In heaven we will bow before Jesus and he will judge us for reward, then we will live in heaven till the battle of Armageddon.

1 Corinthians 3:10-15

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

We spend our time in heaven resting and praising God and having a great time till we come back to earth with Jesus to defeat the antichrist and his army.

Psalm 149:4-9 KJV

4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.

6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;

7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.

Revelation 19:11-21

 11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Honestly, the bible really doesn't say a whole lot of the subject. We will be in heaven with the Lord but not a whole lot else is mentioned.

And what about those souls under the altar? Do they remain there until their blood is avenged?

After the two witnesses have finished their 1260 day testimony, there is war in heaven (Revelation 12:7-14) and the devil and his bad angels are cast to the earth where they will persecute Israel for the last half of the tribulation. Then God and his Christ take control of the Kingdoms of this world. Then the Great Tribulation begins on earth and the two witnesses and the 144,000 Revelation 14:1-4, and the saints who get saved during the first half of the tribulation but die are rewarded in heaven.

Revelation 11:15-18

15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

16And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,

17Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.

18And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

This is after the Tribulation. I'm saying there isn't a whole lot in the bible abut what's going on in heaven right now. We can assume they are praising, singing and worshiping but a lot of that is conjecture I believe. Seems to me all these things don't occur until after the judgement seat of Christ.

And no I do not believe in soul sleep.

Now in heaven.

In His talk of Lazarus and the rich man, Jesus said the angels came and took Lazarus to paradise. Paul tells us to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

I find it very comforting to think the Lord will send angels to escort us to where Jesus is.

We now have the Holy Spirit in us when we die. I don't know if we will need angels to take us to heaven.

I am not saying you are wrong, and because of psalms it agree on part the rejoicing that is, but the resting is assumption on your part.

those under the alter are to be resurrected at the first resurrection of Rev 20.

and actually while our bodies may die we will never die.

The saints in heaven will be given a sword to execute the heathen. What heathen, if not antichrist's army?

The resurrection in Revelation 20:4 is only for those that had the chance to take the mark of the antichrist and chose not to. It is not for the church age Christians.

I don't think it is speaking of me and you though.  It looks to be speaking of Israel if you had left in the first three verses connected.

This is an area of right division there are three divisions of saints I wont copy my whole study out because you should do your own to see if what I say is true.  But basically 1) saints is Israel at and during specific times and instances of use in the bible. 2) saints are the Body of Christ the church of God today mostly found from Roms to Philemon (be careful there is a use that is speaking of Israel in there), and 3) Saints speaks of angels, Israel, and the body of Christ.

That's nice but this passage has nothing to do with saints that are now in heaven although I can see it's application to the tribulation saints in heaven prior to Christ's second coming.

Again, there isn't much in the bible concerning CHURCH AGE SAINTS who are now in heaven.

Also, don't get me wrong, Psalm 149 can have a spiritual application to us as all scripture does but when you try to make church age doctrine we will fail here.

Yes, John, that's about the extant of what we know about departed beloved ones who died in the Lord. Everything else from there is pure conjecture. I believe this has been left out of the bible for a purpose. Being with the Lord should be enough.

Psalm 149:4-9 is describing pre flood saints and Old Testament saints and New Testament saints now and will include tribulation saints.
