According to the law they don't have the right to display this particular stupidity. They have laws against possession of poisonous snakes. This is why every so often some branch of law enforcement will raid one of these churches or the homes of members of snake handling churches.

 

These aren't the only ones practicing strange things with animals. There are various heathen religions practiced in America where certain animals are tortured, slaughtered, and their blood, bones and such are used for rituals.
