It is amazing, but not quite as amazing as the headline says.

She was not in freefall, but "Roman candle", where the chute deploys but doesn't open.
You fall way slower than freefall, but still much faster that full chute.
And most still die......

Yes, there are many who do not know God who will jump at any chance to try to discredit the story or to attack God/Christianity.  Miraculous stories such as this are perfect venues for them to spew their venom toward anything that would or could possibly promote the fact that God is real.

I was a dzst/jumpmaster for many years at bragg and benning. Dave is correct: almost as many streamers survive as don't. Hardly a miracle folks.

It serves the enemies of God far more to claim such nonsense.

I recommend we promote saving faith in the Gospel of God's Word and stop looking for (and pointing to) every out of the ordinary thing as a sign/wonder/miracle.

This one just...got...lucky  :boxing:

No such thing as luck.  It was a miracle.

Whatever you closet calvinists buy is fine with me but figure out what you believe and stick with it.

Testing the waters to see if anybody gets the above statement? Question: does God control everything or does He simply know everything and lets it play its course by His choice. Think about your responses before you jerk it out.

Quit with the false accusations wretched.  God IS sovereign and in control, but man is accountable for his choices.  We are not robots...we have free will and God does not force His will on mankind.  God is sovereign through control, not by decree.  God foreknows the events in our lives, but He doesn't "make" those events happen.  God is not the Author of sin.  God foreknew that that teenager's "rip cord" would not work and through God's intervention, that teenager is alive after falling 3500 to the ground.  I don't think this girl will be skydiving anytime soon.

The question you posed sounds very close to either "Open Theism" or "Deism".

You need to "think out" your responses to posts before you continue to "hang labels" on people when you are totally clueless.

Now that is a good question and worthy of its own thread. If you don't start it, I just might. :)

My beliefs on this have changed over the years.  I believe that God knows everything via foreknowledge.   I believe He chooses, or does not choose, to intervene.  For instance, cancer occurs via natural processes as a result of the sinful world and sinful flesh and worsening genetics.    God knows when and how each person is going to die.  For some, He may choose to heal.  Some he may not.   Sometimes unsaved people are healed.  Sometimes saved people are healed.  Often unsaved people die.  Often saved people die.

If you don't die, then it wasn't "your time" according to God's foreknowledge.  If you do die, then it was "your time".

Only God knows if he actually "intervened" in this girl's fall.  He may have, or it could have been a "Natural" occurrence to where she fell just the right way.   I honestly do not believe God puts a "thumb up" or "thumb down" for people to live and die...but that things happen, and that sometimes God DOES choose to intervene.   But I believe often He chooses not to intervene.

My Biblical backing is that Satan is the "prince of the power of the air" and basically "owns" the earth until that time Jesus Christ takes it back during the millenium.

I believe God uses trials for His good.   I believe he helps Christians through tragedy.  But I also believe that sometimes, bad things happen because that is the way of life, and that God does not always just prevent all bad from happening.   The rain falls on the just and the unjust...and cancer, car wrecks, and parachute fails happen to the just and the unjust too.

I'm not Deist, but I think that the curse has affected a WHOLE lot of our lives, and that God usually does not intervene...He just helps us through things.

Per Job, it is, of course, very possible (and likely) that Satan actively causes bad things to happen to Christians, and that God, again, does not intervene within His foreknowledge and allowance.
