storm-clouds

The devil does have a plan for your life. And it can be expressed pretty fully with five words:

  • Doubt—He wants you to question God’s Word and His goodness.
  • Discouragement—He wants you to look at your problems rather than at God.
  • Diversion—He attempts to make the wrong things attractive to you so your appetites will be turned from godliness.
  • Defeat—He wants you to feel like a failure so you don’t even try.
  • Delay—He wants you to put off doing what the Holy Spirit has prompted you to do so it never gets done.

Doubt, discouragement, diversion, defeat, delay—they’re temptations to all of us.

The key is to recognize them for what they are, submit to God, and resist Satan.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.—James 4:7

God has a plan for your life, too, and it involves reassuring your doubts, strengthening your heart, challenging your faith, and encouraging you to take action.

Do you wonder how God’s plan is set in motion? By your obedience to a simple invitation.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.—James 4:8a

Are you wrestling with doubt? Struggling with discouragement? Diverted from your purpose? Feeling defeated? Delaying to act?

Draw near to God. Seek His face. And His truth will set you free.

It all starts by drawing near to God.

I don't know of one Christian who has never felt any of these.... Doubt, discouragement, diversion, defeat, delay We all from time to time fall into satan's trap, however, it is most important to not remain there.  None of us are perfect and GOD knew that, thus the reason for our Savior.  Living in the world we live in plus our own imperfect bodies often causes us to stumble and fall.  Some more often then others but regardless sin is sin.  Satan loves to weaken the spirit and draw us in, we can't change that but we can rise above and press onward.  If it wasn't so, there wouldn't be a desire to repent and turn away from unrighteousness.  I will be the first to admit I am far from perfect but I am very thankful for GOD's plan or I wouldn't have a prayer.  We know right from wrong, however, doing what is right at all times is most difficult and near to impossible.  When we fail or fall short satan is right in there with ample supplies of  Doubt, discouragement, diversion, defeat, delay.... ready to draw us closer and tempt us even more.  For me, recognizing that I am a sinner saved by Grace is the clinching factor.  I'm saved, not perfect but walking towards perfection and grateful for it!!  HE didn't bring me this far to wash HIS hands of me, but rather to mold me into the person HE designed me to be.  Doubt, discouragement, diversion, defeat, delay are all factors in life, but their just roadblocks waiting to be detoured around, and this journey we're on, is your trip of life while on earth!!!
