Members Rebel Prince
2 Kings 24:8 says "Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem." 2 Chronicles 36:9 says "Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord." Members Samer
2 Kings 24:8 says "Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem." 2 Chronicles 36:9 says "Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord." These refer to different aspects of King Jehoiachin's reign. "It is important to remember that with the biblical method of reckoning the beginning of a reign of a king may be given from his anointing or his ascension-or both. Following the deportation of his father, Jehoiachin legally became king over Judah when he was 8 years old (2 Chronicles 36:9), but his mother ruled for him as queen (Jeremiah 13:18) until he was 18 (2 Kings 24:8). Three months later both king and queen mother were deported (2 Kings 24:12) (Robert Sargent) edit: this was Rachel posting, not Samer. Members Rebel Prince
Hmm, seems like a crazy coincidence then that both reigns were 3 months. Or do you think it is meant to be describing the same period of reigning when it says 3 months? :puzzled:

Members Rebel Prince
You don't think that the "three months" and the "three months and ten days" refer to the same period of time?

Members FundieGirl02
Very interesting! Bible "contradictions" between the books of 1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Chronicles sometimes really confuse me.
