I thought one of the forum rules was NOT to discuss CCM?

This thread was posted b/c of the the use of CCM at Temple Baptist Church and the disdain IFB's have with it's use.

CCM can be discussed on OB as long as members disapprove of it, GS.  ;)

Clearly not all IFBs disdain CCM since there are many IFB churches using CCM (in one form or another) and many IFB individuals who use CCM (in one form or another).

Some of the debates regarding the matter involve just what is CCM? The term has become an umbrella term which now includes everything from Christian metal and rap to modern hymns to Southern Gospel and nearly all points between and beyond.

Another discussion matter has to do with what does or doesn't make a song acceptable or unacceptable.

There is also the matter of how we should deal with those churches which use music we disagree with. This often touches upon the "Independent" aspect too.

Various other factors crop up from consistency to preference, culture to adaptability, various views regarding the understanding and application of certain verses/passages of Scripture, etc.

Gen 4:26
26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos:then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.

Rom 10:13
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Jn 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Gen 6:2
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

Looks like the believers were called "sons of God" from the beginning.

Rom 8:14
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Gal 4:6
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Rom 8:16-17
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint- heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

In true Satanic fashion, the MV is truth mixed with error.
Quote John 3:16, from the NIV, out loud. What you hear causes confusion. And God is not its author.

My old IFB church after I left made the transition to CCM. The pastor was a BJ grad and a musician

Some IFB churches are gravitating towards CCM, Jeffrey.  My church will never do that.  The reason being, it is too worldly.  Currently, I am listening to piano music by the pianist in my church.  He plays old hymns of the faith.

I read the article.  This is where discernment comes in and the need to compare scripture with scripture no matter what translation is being used. Misinterpretations still happen using KJV.

Taking verses out of context is another problem.

The problem of looking through a dozen MVs to find one that has a particular verse or passage worded in a way you can use it to support your preconceived notion is something else. So, while you look at the book of "Jake", verse 7:7, you decide the way it's worded in the KJB doesn't support your already determined position so you look in the ESV, NASB, NIV (three different versions of this), NLT, Amplified, The Message, etc., until finally you come across "Jake 7:7" rendered in such a way you can use it to support your agenda.

This is what the Seeker churches do.  God is no longer their finally authority, the guy writing the message is.

What sort of transition...to adapted CCM or outright CCM?

I always find it interesting when people make this distinction when really, nothing anyone does with a piece of music can change its heart. No man can change another's heart, and to try to reinterpret the musical utterance of that heart is futile; it still is what it is, even if it technically sounds a bit different.
