Members Anon
Fox News Headlines: "Paulson says economy already showing signs of improvement". What?! What????!!!!????? Leave it to the media to formulate what we believe....to hide the fact that Bush's economy was working fine....to cover for the fact Obama is causing fear on Wall Street.... Sure lets just believe the media fairy tales.
Administrators HappyChristian Posted November 12, 2008 Administrators Share Posted November 12, 2008 Yeah, Wall Street is going to pretty much collapse, most likely. And the current mess can be laid at the feet of the Democrats, for sure. But! Bush is the one who pushed the bailout... The economy was growing until the last mid-term elections. Then, Dems took the majority. And things began to stagnate. I think we are at the end of the prosperity that Reaganomics brought about. But Bush didn't help with all of his government expansion, either.

Sure lets just believe the media fairy tales. I'm confused!? Are they referring to the gas prices and such? Come on, I live in Michigan.....things are most definitely NOT getting better, and if he runs the nation like our Dem. governor has run our state, (and most likely he will.....he likes our gov. so much he is looking at promoting her) our nation will quickly go further downhill economically!! Members John81
Paulson is blowing smoke trying to calm the markets down and hope people will spend more money. The economy is in a shambles. Unemployment is going up, many folks who are working are nwo working at jobs making less than half what they made in the jobs they lost. American businesses are going bankrupt. It was just reported that Starbucks revenue dropped over 90%. All three American automakers are losing money by the billions. Construction is slowing. Credit is tighter, the dollar is worth less. Typically even once a recession ends the unemployment rate still continues to climb for a year or more before businesses have caught up enough to start hiring back those they let go. Members Anon
Oh I know, this is a deliberate attempt by the media to make Obama look good, and Obama isn't even in office! We are going to be eating beans and rice and the media is going to be trying to tell us that Obama is giving us filet mignon... :roll

Spread some rice on a plate. Put a spoon of the mashed beans on the rice, and scoop the rice into a ball. Use a knife to cut slices, close your eyes and tell yourself, "yes, this tastes like melt in your mouth beef...filet mignon! They're right!" :duh

Members trc123
Connecticut's Center for Economic (can't remember the full name) out of UCONN released a report on Monday stating our state's recession started 12 months ago and will likely last another 12 to 18 months, possibly less. They rank our recession as mild and over the next two years the job loss is estimated to be 40,000 people vs 160,000 per year in the 1990's recession. The reason they gave for it being milder than the rest of the nation: - Not hit nearly as bad by the mortgage and foreclosure issue - Higher average family incomes, allowing people to keep spending - Already moved much of its economy to non-manufacturing sectors But, on the bright side we did start issuing marriage licenses for Gay marriage today.................... :verymad:
Members bzmomo7
My husband was somewhere the other day and he overheard someone "rejoicing" about BO getting into office exclaiming, ".....oooooh, we're gonna get PAID!...." :roll I wonder if those same people who took to the streets rejoicing will take to them rioting when they don't get "paid"? (and they find out the economy is WORSE and not getting better) Maybe it is good they are putting on this facade about things getting better right at the moment.........that way, Obama can't say he inherited the problem and had nothing to do with it getting worse. Members John81
Many of these people are simply hoping for more government handouts. They will be content if welfare checks increase in size, if the government adds to some old programs or creates some new ones that give goodies and assistance to the poor. Some will be content if the government extends their unemployment benefits even though they won't be doing anything to help them get a decent paying job. Too many people simply look for what they consider an easy government fix without caring what it really means.
