The components inside are the same as a PC, since Mac was forced to switch from Motorola CPU to Intel CPU and rewrite the OS using a version of Unix (OS-X). 

The same computer could conceivably run Linux + Windows + OS-X.  So, it's just a matter of what you like to look at as an interface ("desktop").
