Sanford police chief fired in wake of Trayvon Martin case

"Lee had said Zimmerman was not charged in the shooting because there were no grounds to disprove his account of the events -- that Martin had attacked him. Since then, Zimmerman has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder."

Usually there is no arrest when there is not evidence supporting a person has broken the law.

Is this an effort to pacify those that threatened civil unrest if there's not an arrest, trail, conviction, & punishment?

All I know about this is what's been printed in the papers, & we know that the media blew this early on by printing false information about the one that is now charged with a crime that also was the driving force behind thoes who called for an arrest, trail, conviction, & punishment.
