Mysterious Death

He lies on a bed, on the edge of death; the malady came upon him very suddenly, it gripped his heart, and there is no cure known to mortal man. He and I grew up together, soul mates, and yet, there is nothing I can do to help him. He is given only hours to live. The doctors are mystified, his family is terrified, his friends, horrified at the sight of him lying there so helpless, in the clutches of deaths’ grip. It seems that all hope is lost.
What was this mystery disease? Was it a virus? Maybe a neurological problem? A parasite? Whatever it is, it is definitely fast, spreading throughout his system like wildfire, and burning like a fire gone wild.

The doctors called an emergency meeting; they had to find out what this thing was that was killing the young man, the thing that was so debilitating. The blood tests came back negative; the x-rays showed nothing; the ekg’s were inconclusive, and yet, the young man was rapidly slipping away. Something had to be done. They were convinced that there had to be a cure somewhere, but it had eluded them thus far.

My friend died at 10:03 pm. An autopsy has been scheduled in hopes of discovering the killer disease. The great doctor T.T. Philips has been called in to do the autopsy, he is considered the most prominent expert in his field today; graduated with highest honors and lectures worldwide on forensics and natural medicines.

Several days have passed, and upon conferring with the doctor, he is prepared to give his diagnosis, but only to a select few, and behind closed doors. Yes, it is that serious. The idea is to avoid a panic, for his findings were of epidemic proportions, and of the utmost consequence. The meeting took a good two hours, and shouts and laughter and angry voices could be heard clear from one end of the hall to other, and all at once. Finally, four men exited the room with looks of dismay and disbelief on their faces. One man was heard mumbling to himself, and at least two of the others could only shake their heads in disbelief; the doctor exited last, slowly, head down, and obviously lost in his own thoughts. He had not yet found a remedy for this mystery disease. Was it contagious? Would an epidemic break out? How many would die before a cure was found? The doctors were baffled. The next day, an article in the paper gave the account of his death, and the diagnosis was in, the poor old boy died of…. an overdose of sin.

The autopsy was over,
The verdict was in;
The poor man died,
From and overdose of sin.

“The wages of sin is death…” (Rom. 3:23 a)

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die…” (Ezek. 18:20 a)
