Have you heard of court justices exhibiting judicial activism?

Ginsburg to Egyptians: I wouldn't use U.S. Constitution as a model.

"I would not look to the U.S. Constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012,"

Read the page through the link above but don't stop there. Skim through the actual constitution at the link below.

South Africa Constitution

This is a good example of why U.S. Citizens should vote for a POTUS to prevent liberals from appointing SCJs. However,
with Romney there is no insurance a conservative judge will be appointed.

We don't need our social engineering government with any more leverage than they have now.

There are a growing number of judges who think factors from other nations should be taken into consideration when making their decisions. No matter how is elected we can't know what kind of judges will be appointed. Many judges appointed by Republican presidents have not ruled strictly in accord with the Constitution.

The only thing that can truly change America for the better is revival, another Great Awakening.

We even have examples from OT Israel where a good king was in place who actually made some good rulings yet as soon as they were gone the nation went right back to wickedness. How much worse in America where things are so much different!

Look back over the past 50 years at all the Republican presidents we've had, as well as some Republican congresses and note how the country continued to go in the wrong direction.

A few more of these progressive/liberal-activist judges, progressive/liberal congressman/senators, and a progressive/liberal president and we may see a new constitution of the government over the people.

The constitution cannot be all that sacrosanct as it has been ammended a number of times (10?).

The Constitution has built into it the means to amend. The first 10 amendments were actually agreed to before the Constitution was ratified in order to get the States to accept it. While the first 10 amendments are not technically a part of the original Constitution, in effect they have been viewed as such.

Since that time, 17 other amendments have been added.

The problem in America hasn't so much been with amendments, it's been with neglecting the amendment process and simply forcing change by presidential "executive order", acts of congress, court rulings, and outright refusal to abide by the Constitution.

Just to be clear, when we speak of the Constitution, that includes the amendments because amendments become a part of the Constitution.

For most who are more conservative minded, they hold that the original Constitution and first 10 amendments (known as the Bill of Rights) are the bedrock of America and should be strictly held to in accord with original intent.

Addressing the aspect of "sacrosanct", no, the US Constitution is a man-made document so is imperfect. Which is why the Bill of Rights needed to be added to it and why there is an amendment process within. When several States formed the Confederate States of America the Constitution they adopted is very similar to the US Constitution, with only a few changes, which was their attempt to better the document in order to avoid the problems which had come to plague early America. As well, in the CSA Constitution, there was no need of a Bill of Rights because those aspects were included directly into their constitution.

All of that said, most of the Founders were aware the Constitution was imperfect which is why they appealed to the avoidance of political parties, of electing only men of high Christian moral character, or even as Thomas Jefferson put forth the belief that every so often revolution would be needed to wipe out corruption and restore constitutional liberty. Thomas Jefferson also believed the United States was already too big in his day and hoped it would peacefully divide into two, three or more independent nations with strong ties of commerce, peace and mutual support.

I did see a news report some time ago where they said the supreme court has the 10 Commandments exhibited, but the guides tell visitors that they represent the 10 ammendments to the constitution.

The 5th ammendment seems to be a bit of an anomally, as one can take an oath to say you will tell the whole truth, then "take the 5th", which seems to be committing perjury.

Yes, the 10 commandments are part of the building and used to mean something to the court, but no more.

In American law one isn't required to testify against themselves which is where taking the 5th comes in; which simply means a person refuses to say anything because it MAY incriminate them.

So, most often, when one takes the 5th it's basically an admission they have something to hide.

Actually mans constitution means little, its ever changing, its not absolute truth, but man does not like absolute truths, he likes his idea of truth, & refuses to be under absolute truth of God.

If this was a Christian country, & feared God, we would actually abide by God's laws, & as a nation turn to Him confessing this nations sins, & asking Him to forgive this nation, them turn from our sins. Instead, this nation keeps legalizing sins against God, going the way of sinful man.

Some say it was a good thing the Founder's kept religion (specifically, Christianity) out of the government, and maybe from a worldly standard it was, but from a purely Christian perspective, doing this ensured wickedness would prevail and America would go the godless direction she has.

No doubt, in this fallen world, even had the Founder's established Christianity as the only recognized religion and required office holders to be born again Christians, it's likely America would have still fallen away from God, yet even so, things could possibly have been more clear for Americans as they were in ancient Israel.

Still, we have what we have and with so many professing Christians looking to the Republican Party and elections to save or restore America rather than the spreading of the Gospel and making disciples across the land, we can expect America to continue her downward nosedive.

In my humble opinion, the US is well down the path towards one world government. If we are indeed approaching the end of time, we can't stop it. However, I do believe we can slow it down, as you mentioned. And possibly reverse it, if this is just another cycle of rise and fall, as happened to the Hebrews over the centuries before Christ came to earth. However, that possibility is quite small, since we are so far down that "global" path already. I'm afraid we are doomed to repeating their mistakes, as so few are willing to look around them to see what's happening. Secular interests are keeping far too many distracted. When Christians miss worship services to take their kids to ball games, that's just a single example of the many worldly distractions, in play, as global rule slips quietly into place.

There will be no need to go through the battle of changing what little remains of the actual intent of the Constituion, if a higher form of government can be brought to rule over us. It's much like what happened to states rights. Over the years, the federal government gained the means to make most of them null and void for all practical purposes. As the US yields govermental authority to the UN, the same process is taking place. If/when that's complete, there'll be no need to re-write the Constitution to ban private ownership of firearms, for example, The right to bear arms will be ruled unconstitutional by the World Court.

Ironic that lately I've been hearing a lot of "patritotism and politics" talk on Christian radio with most saying exactly what Ron Paul has been saying yet none of the Christian "leaders" supported Ron Paul. In fact, these "leaders" either ignored Ron Paul or outright spoke ill of him. In the meantime, they endorsed or spoke in favor of candidates which would continue the course of the nation in the same wrong direction.

Sadly, most Christians fail to really pray for our nation or our leaders. If they do pray they typically fall into the "my will be done" mode of prayer as they ask God to bless their selected candidate and their selected political Party rather than laying things before the Lord, seeking His guidance, and praying that His will be done.

Rather than prayer, spreading the Gospe and making disciples, too many American Christians think they do their "Christian duty" by being politically active, arguing for their pet candidates and political Party and then casting their vote.

I do not believe we can slow it down, but we can spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, & hope & pray that some souls will be saved. And the latter is the job our Savior has given us.
