Why do we use wimpy, enemy friendly terms?

Is it "adult entertainment" or is it pornography?

Is it "gay" or is it sodomy/homosexuality?

Is it "pro choice" or is it pro baby murder, or at least pro abortion?

Is it "luck" or blessing from God?

Is there such a thing as "neutral" when it comes to matters of right and wrong, or is it as Jesus said, those who are not with us are against us?

Is it "not the best thing", "bad", "not really good", "a little sin", or is it SIN?

Why does it seem Christians adopt the nice sounding terms designed to cover their wickedness and sin rather than calling things what they are?

Why, when a Christian speaks biblical truth and they come under fire for it do they most often back down and soften their language to speak as does the sin promoting world?

Are we going to fight the good fight or are we going to be content to swing a feather pillow every now and then?

John, it's because we're slowly, but surely, being taught to be politically correct, at satan's direction.

We shouldn't upset anyone by stating loudly and clearly that abortion is murder. We should be tolerant of other's beliefs. Tolerate is a code word for condone. If we don't condone, we are cast as hate mongers, racists, and a host of other negative labels that the "world" is applying to us. And the most frightening label to many is some form of committing "hate crimes". Even by verbally rejecting the actions of others. Thus, the freedom to speak out is being erroded on all fronts.

TV preachers are telling us that we should love everybody. Love is a code word for "condone" their behavior. Local church pastors often don't want to offend anyone dropping money into the collection plate by not "condoning" their lifestyles.

Christian symbols of faith are offensive to some others, so we shouldn't display them. Season's Greetings is the preferred way of acknowledging the birth of Christ. We're politically correct if we spend Sunday, April 8th, hunting eggs and eating chocolate rabbits.

IMHO, far too few want to don the armour of God, as it's easier to stroll around in a T and shorts while being politically correct and fitting into today's society. Sadly, one day they are going to wake up and wonder what happened. How did we end up with a one world religion and one world government, just by being politically correct?

Oldtimer has got it right, this is the language of the left. We should reject this language and use the truth instead. I will never refer to someone as "pro-choice", it's SELFISH BABY KILLER or just BABY KILLER!

This is a tactic of leftists/democrats/socialists/communists to degrade society by watering down the words, to make them more acceptable to everyone. At the same time they have banned other words from general use or they can only be used by certain people.

Most people that claim to follow God know not God's way. So they adopt the ways of the world. And some just don't care.

One example is, I know of 3 churches that has adopted this from women going dancing & drinking at bars, lounges, nightclubs, that has a night they call "Ladies Night Out." Of course the bars, lounges, nightclubs have this night on what was the slowest night of business during the week, & the women get cater to by the bar, lounge, nightclub by having to pay nothing & or extremely low prices.

The 3 church I spoke of now have what they call, "Ladies Night Out."

All that does in glorify & bring more attention to the original ladies night out, & sends more women to the bars, lounges, nightclubs.

As for the bars, nightclubs, lounges, having this ladies night out on what was previously a slow night, now has become a very busy night, for the men knowing there will be many women in the will flock to the bars, nightclubs, lounges, for they know many women will be present.

Of course also, the women will know it will be a hot night & they might catch their dream catch on that night.

I might add, I have noticed some of the women that attends "Ladies Night Out," at churches, are some of the same ones that takes in "Ladies Night out," at the bars, lounges, nightclubs, they call it, having a good times.

It makes it so much more difficult speaking the truth and living the truth when so many take the watered down way and play the game as the enemy wants to play.

How can Christian leaders call for companies to be or become "neutral" on issues such as homosexual "marriage"? By their very policies the company will either be promoting or standing against such sin. There is no neutral.

Why, when speaking out against pornography do so many call it "adult entertainment"? If it's simply "adult entertainment", then what real complaint is there to make against adutls who find entertainment in the garbage? How effective is it to tell teens and younger that pornography is wicked sin, damaging to them, if we call it "adult entertainment", which implies that perhaps it's not for those their age, but once they are 18 it suddenly becomes just "entertianment"?

Why do Christians go about talking so much about "luck", a pagan concept, rather than the blessings of God in their lives? I find it so refreshing when I hear on the news as they speak with folks who have been through something like a major storm and someone finally says "God blessed us" or "God saved us", rather than saying how "lucky" they are like most the others say.

I've found many opportunities over the years to speak with folks about God simply because they heard me reference Him, such as saying something like, "Thanks to God", or "only because of God's blessing", rather than referring to pagan "luck".

As Jerry said, this sort of thing extends to churches now naming and having events based upon that which the lost world indulges in. Does it really serve the Lord to cancel church services in order to hold a Superbowl Party at church?

Adult entertainment a way to say I'm being entertained by sins against God. And if a child should not watch it, probably an adult Christian should not watch it neither.

That said, many Christians can't stay away from entertainment that's nothing but pure sins against God, such as many TV shows & movies that's nothing but trash. I'm talking abort them enjoying things that should not even be discussed in public, that ought to bring shame onto a person for having such thoughts enter their mind. I'm speaking about stuff that glorifies drugs, sex, alcohol, & many other sinful things.

The problem with these so called churches is that they act so much like the world they have become worldly. It is like Paul wrote to Timothy:

(2Ti 3:4) Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
(2Ti 3:5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
(2Ti 3:6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
(2Ti 3:7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

I believe these silly women are those worldly "churches".

Brothern we must do as it is written In Jude .....earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Let's stand firm in the faith.

Jerry, before you judge the churches...honestly, I had some "Ladies' Nights Out" last year and to be perfectly honest with you...being not raised "in the world" I had no clue that was what they called it at bars. *shrug* We just went out to eat, and we were a group of ladies, so to me, that's "Ladies' Night Out" without the kids. So I had absolutely no clue that it would be a bad thing to call it that...so before you judge what churches call things, you should remember only God sees the heart and knows the motives. :-)

As for "adult entertainment" I don't think I've ever even called it that because I have no reason to discuss it. Anyway I'm too lazy to say "adult entertainment"...its easier to say "Porn". :-)

I do say "Good luck" occasionally but God knows my heart that I just mean "Hope everything goes well for you" and it does NOT mean that I'm neglecting or omitting God.

I'm not defending myself but rather just saying, lets be careful how quick we are to be harsh and judge just a few words people might say...people these days might have not even been taught what things mean. A good example is that a VERY VERY common thing people say nowadays is, instead of "That stinks" they say "That S****". Even Christians say it now. However the meaning has changed to not be obscene (supposedly) but we still teach our kids its wrong, and our oldest knows what it means (loosely) and has been taught not to say it...but yet he can't figure out why Christians are saying it. We just tell him, "Well, I guess maybe they don't know how bad it is. But YOU do know. So you won't say it."

Instead of judging people and being upset, maybe we could educate people instead. We are raising a generation that, frankly, probably doesn't know any better than to say curse words or say "gay" or say "Ladies Night Out" (like I said, I had not an inkling that it was remotely bad)...... and be happy for the good that's being done. If a Christian is against "gays" then be happy they are not pro-homosexual. If a Christian is attending "Ladies Night Out" be happy they're active in their local church.

Know what I mean? I'm not saying compromise...but I am saying lets not be so quick to assume people are compromising just by what they say.

Good, now your educated, & know where this term, "Ladies Night Out," comes from. I'll stand by it, this term should not be used in a New Testament Church, & would not be used by a church I was pastor of. And no, I am only an under-Shepard, not the dictator, I only get to vote if there is a tie, I would politely tell them where the name comes from, & that name is not suitable.

PS: Once there was a tie, my vote could decide yes or no. I did not fear taking a stand, voting what was right, yet I felt the best thing to do is put off this vote for some time, have a discussing over it, them vote again. I asked for a motion to do this, it passed, & everyone voted for it, so everyone is happy. A few weeks later it was brought back up, we had a discussion on this, this time everyone is for it except for one person, & even that person seemed OK with it.

If one half way tries there is a way to do things & keep most people happy in the setting of a local church. On a message board its a difficult, if not an impossible thing to do.

It actually goes much beyond politics, it goes to the core of truth and the fact most don't care or prefer to accept the lie.

It's difficult to reach folks for Christ when they have grown up being fed one lie after another, not taught to seek the truth, taught to go along to get along, and taught that truth is a lie.

Whether presented with historical, political or spiritual truth, so many are preconditioned to not care or to actually resist the truth.

IMHO, you've nailed it to the front door.

"It actually goes much beyond politics, it goes to the core of truth and the fact most don't care or prefer to accept the lie" OR have never heard the truth, as it should be spoken.

As old as I am, I only realized recently that I need to remove the term "good luck" from my speech. And, I must admit that it is a struggle. Heard it used by others all my life and thought nothing of it or about it. Same thing with the word coincidence. "Oh it was just a coincidence that abc and xyz happened at the same time."

One other example of never hearing the truth as it should be spoken that comes from my own experiences. All my life I've had an interest in natural sciences and history. Especially ancient history. So, to make a long story short, I fell, hook, line and sinker for the theories of evolution. It was what I was taught, from grade school forward to today by the History Channel, National Geographics and other media outlets with "documentaries". Yes, I've read about creation in the Bible many times. Thought I'd reconciled the "truth" I'd been taught about evolution, geology, paleontology, archeology and such with the Bible and God's use of time vs ours.

That is, until my pastor challenged my "theory" about a year ago. It was as much the conviction in his voice as it was his few brief sentences that led me to seek the TRUTH. Over the years of being indoctrinated, either I'd never heard the opposition to evolution or the opposition was cast in such as way that it wasn't realistic. To cast aside evolution was to believe the earth is flat.
Once I accepted his challenge, discovered for the first time, valid (IMHO) scientific opposition to all I'd been taught. Point by point rebuttals that supported Genesis. From how the Grand Canyon was actually formed to why there are seashell fossils on top of mountains. And, too much more to list here.

It wasn't easy to undo 50+ years of thinking I knew the truth. During this process of doing a 180 degree turn, it was similar to trying to reverse the direction of the Titanic in a small harbor. Like a small tugboat, I had to keep pushing. Looking back, the Holy Spirit was the captain of that tugboat, as I couldn't have done it by myself. Not after all those years of being "educated" that God flipped a switch and sat back to watch evolution unfold on earth.

IMHO, the judge is much like my pastor. One of the few voices who try to challenge "truths" people think they know. From what I understand civics is no longer taught in schools. Today, few understand the difference between a republic and a democracy. "States Rights", the Bill of Rights, and more are just dusty old concepts that have no bearing on today's MODERN society.
This post is getting too long, so I'd better close with:

It's difficult to reach folks for Christ when they have grown up being fed one lie after another, not taught to seek the truth, taught to go along to get along, and taught that truth is a lie.

No doubt it can be difficult to get some of the worldly ways out of us. I know I too struggled with dropping "luck" from my talk. It may seem like a little thing to some, but the world takes note of such things. Is it pagan "luck" or is it God who is in control?

The term "coincidence" is another one that's important to consider. Is life just random coincidence or is God in control?

The world takes note as to whether our speech mirrors theirs (luck, coincidence, etc.) or does our speech indicate we think and believe differently than they do (God bless, move of God, etc.).

The way we talk about things can either open the door to further discuss our God or it can give the world the impression we are actually much like them with no more to add.

One phrase I cannot stand to hear is "He/She suffers from mental illness."

I have searched and searched through the Word of God and find no instance of "mental illness" in its pages.

And drugs were not given to one who was depressed, nor for hyper-activity.

Medications that alter the mind should not even be in the household of one who is a child of God.

The word for mental illness, in the King James, is the word "mad". Today, we use it in place of "angry" but that's not what it means in the KJB

I never needed any scientific proof of creation, I've always just believed this.

Ge 1:1 ¶ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Ge 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

I can't find that proof no were else, except for in the 'Good Book,' that holds all truths & can be 100% believed without being back up by information found outside of it.

I've had a sister that has suffered from mental illness for many years. I still do not understand it, yet its a fact of life, & there's some medicines that do help, & without theses medicines she is a pitiful sight to see & be around. I don't expect for anyone to understand it the least bit that has not dealt with it for many years, for as I stated, I don't understand it, I just know the effect this has had on my sister. But I do believe one needs to be careful what they say about things they know not about or do not understand.

The use of good luck seems to go along with those that gamble, they feel when luck is on their side no one can beat them, & when luck is not on their side they cannot beat no one. Its a phrase that I have used, but never use no more. As for me I have God on my side, not luck, & God is much more comforting to have than luck is, from what I understand those that believes in luck, believes it comes & goes. God does not come & go, He is with you all the time, He will never forsake thee nor leave thee.

Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Sad thing is, when we are around people of the world, spend lots of time around them & keep hearing their worldly phrases, its easy to pick them up. Maybe we should not be around them so much. Actually the Bible tell us this, but like Israel, we do as she did, it got them in trouble time after time, & does the same for us.

2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2Co 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
2Co 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty
