Moderators Salyan Posted March 9, 2012 Moderators Share Posted March 9, 2012 Homeschoolers in Alberta are fighting right now to have a section of Bill 2 altered. This bill was recently introduced into the Education Act in our province, and as stands, prohibits home educating parents from including material prohibited by the Human Rights Commission into their educational program. This means that parents will not be allowed to teach their children the Biblical position on sodomy. This is of great concern, not only for the apparent reasons, but because homeschooling parents make teaching their children a way of life. How is the government going to distinguish between the 'educational program' times and 'non-educational' times? It is an open door toward the imposition of the Human Rights Act into the privacy of the home. Bill 2 already exists, and we are seeking an amendment to it. We are asking anyone concerned - not only Albertans! - to contact our legislature and lend their support to the changes proposed by the Wildrose Party to Bill 2. ~ Sarah ____________________________________________________________________________For 1 day only, this Friday, March 9th, we need as many calls as possible from across North America, to show the depth of concern with this harmful Bill. Please call, asking the government to support the following amendments to Bill 2 which will be introduced by the Wildrose Education Critic Rob Anderson. Mr. Anderson will move that Section 16 be removed and substituted with the following:16 Education programs offered and instructional materials used in schools must not promote or foster doctrines of racial or ethnic superiority or persecution, religious intolerance or persecution, social change through violent action or disobedience of laws.
