He Leadeth Me

Christ is always leading’
Though I seldom follow;
Then I wonder why I’m empty,
And my spiritual life is hollw;
Why no blessings of victory?
Why do prayers bounce back unheard?
It is because I do not walk with God,
Oft ignoring His precious Word.

But when I seek His guidance,
And walk the narrow way,
The sun begins to shine again,
I see a bright new day.
I must seek His guidance,
And walk closely at His side;
And never stray away again,
Before the evening tide.

He leadeth me beside still waters;
He leadeth me in paths of right;
He guideth my soul to realms above,
He leadeth me through the night.
He leadeth me not into temptation,
He delivereth from evil,
And granteth me His blessing,
And delivers my soul from upheaval. .

When I run to Jesus,
The Haven for my soul;
I find the peace I’m longing for,
In making Him my goal.
I find in Him sweet rest,
And comfort for my pain,
I must give to Him by Best,
And claim His rest as gain.

He leads me to pastures green,
And in His love I do abide;
The sweetest of joys await me,
‘Neath the crimson tide.
With His right hand He leads me,
0ut of temptations’ snare,
And into the way everlasting,
To Truth with loving care.

He leads me where I would not go,
If left up to my flesh;
He takes me by the hand, and leads…
I follow with bated breath;
Reluctant to do His will,
I follow in trepidation;
Afraid of falling too far short,
Of the God of my salvation.
