Administrators HappyChristian Posted September 29, 2011 Administrators Share Posted September 29, 2011 ...and I've never liked crazy rides! In July we found out my Dad has metastatic melanoma. He is doing well, all things considered. He responded well to the radiation, and has successfully beaten off sickness from 2 chemo treatments. Good news from Monday is that his white blood cell count is up. My MIL has spent a good bit of time the last few months in the hospital. They couldn't seem to figure out what was wrong. Come to find out that it was her heart medicine...She is recuperating, although slowly. Praise the Lord for that. My Grandma (turning 102 in Nov) fell and broke her hip on Saturday. She came through the surgery well, to the surprise of many (at her age, it's an iffy thing). However, she developed pneumonia yesterday and by last night was unresponsive. As of this moment I am waiting to hear if she made it through the night. The doctor didn't expect her to...I know she's had a long life, but I'm a selfish granddaughter...I don't want to see her go. My Mom, however (who has had the complete care of her for many years) has been praying that if my Grandma had to go into a nursing home for therapy, God would just go ahead and take her - because she would likely feel that she'd been deserted (even with my Mom visiting her daily) and die anyway. And there are other things about which I can't talk right now. Suffice to say I'm ready for the crazy ride to stop! Would appreciate prayers if you happen to think of us. Good news: My hubby is wonderful. And my son has a new civilian job (he's still in the Guard) - he's driving truck for Schneider trucking. So, all is not bad. But there are things weighing heavily. And, I have acid reflux that seems to go into action when there's a lot of stress. My tummy hurts. Thanks for the prayers. Members JerryNumbers
Its a crazy ride, yet just think about those taking this ride through this present life under their own power, their own strength, along with the lonely ride they will take after this present life being escorted to the depths of hell to await the coming 'White Throne' judgment. As for us we do make this journey in our present life with the help of our Savior, never left by our self while knowing that no matter what happens, takes place in our life by deeds we do or deeds someone else does God will take that & work it out for our good, we surely cannot forget at death we will not be left along but will be escorted to 'Glory' by angels knowing that our homes will be in 'Glory' forever. That hope helps us understand, "I can do all things though Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:

Administrators HappyChristian Posted September 29, 2011 Author Administrators Share Posted September 29, 2011 Grandma made it through the night. She is still unresponsive, and the doc believes this is the end. But he is still feeding her via tubes in case she comes out of it.

My Grandmother turned 99 in June, while still living by herself. She then had a blood clot in her arm. When they went to take care of it she had a stroke in the hospital. She went from there to a nursing home. She was responsive, but hard to understand. She then slipped away into God's hands. We are on a bit of a roller coaster ourselves. We are dealing with having to deal with having had some things stolen off our property. The bad thing is it was taken by a former bus kid that we at the time though of as family. He has been arrested, and now we will see how that goes.
Administrators HappyChristian Posted September 29, 2011 Author Administrators Share Posted September 29, 2011 I'm sorry about that theft! Hopefully the fact that he's been arrested will help him go straight!!

Administrators Pastor Matt Posted September 30, 2011 Administrators Share Posted September 30, 2011 Wow, that is a crazy ride. God has a reason for things. I just wish He would tell us ahead of time so I can prepare, but I guess that is where the faith comes in.
Administrators HappyChristian Posted September 30, 2011 Author Administrators Share Posted September 30, 2011 Grandma is still unresponsive. Mainly due to morphine, but she was in such pain they actually had no choice (I was on the phone with Mom the other night when they were sitting her up to eat...she was yelping and crying out in pain as they moved her...that was hard to hear!!). The doctor told my Mom last night that my Grandma is dying. (Whoosh - that's really hard to say without tears, y'know? ) He told her that he can't justify keeping her in the hospital, so if she is still with us by Saturday morning, they will have to move her to a nursing home. He told my Mom that most elderly people who break their hips live only about 6 months (I had heard a year from someone else), and that, often when they are placed in the nursing home they only live for about 24 hours. Don't know how accurate that is, but he has been a doc for many years, and a good number of his patients have been and are elderly. I'm just waiting now. As soon as I get word, I'll have to book a ticket to head out there. I want to spend at least a couple of weeks with my Mom, helping her transition from being her mother's caretaker back to "normal life" (in this case, caretaker for her hubby with cancer... ). Members rancher824
Praying for you and your family. I know it is hard, but with my grandmother we got to the point we were ready for her to meet the Lord and get out of the agony. Praying for the Lord to give you the same peace! Administrators HappyChristian Posted October 1, 2011 Author Administrators Share Posted October 1, 2011 Well, my Grandma passed away this morning, about 7 a.m. WA time. I am booked to fly out on Tuesday. Will be there a little over 2 weeks. I would appreciate prayer for my Mom. She knows it's for the best, but I don't think it's ever easy to lose a mom! Also, please pray for my uncle. He is not saved. We are going to have a memorial service, but whether or not he comes... Thanks. I will have internet access while there, but don't know how often I'll be on.

Members Nathaniel
Been praying for you. It must be tough with so many things at once.. But, surely even this is for good! Don't be discouraged! Stand strong in God knowing it is all in his control. (Ps 62:5) My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation [is] from him. (Ps 62:6) He only [is] my rock and my salvation: [he is] my defence; I shall not be moved. (Ps 62:7) In God [is] my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, [and] my refuge, [is] in God. (Ps 62:8) Trust in him at all times; [ye] people, pour out your heart before him: God [is] a refuge for us. Selah.
