Members Saved IFB
Question: Is there a main Homeschooling corporation that governs Homeschooling in America? Does each Church use what is best for their members, as far as resources, contacts, etc?
Members John81
No. Homeschooling regulations vary from state-to-state. There is a wide variety of homeschooling material out there. One would hope that whoever is using homeschooling material would take the time to find and use the best.

Administrators HappyChristian Posted October 13, 2010 Administrators Share Posted October 13, 2010 Question: Is there a main Homeschooling corporation that governs Homeschooling in America? Does each Church use what is best for their members, as far as resources, contacts, etc? As John said, laws vary from state to state, although the feds are sticking their noses in now, where they shouldn't. There are a couple of home school defense groups for times when the gubmint tries to flex itself towards homeschoolers. As to each church using what is best...as John said, there is a variety of resource out there. In some churches, folks use the same curriculum perhaps because the church encourages home schooling and has advisers who help, or because folks talk amongst themselves, etc. But, really, home schoolers need to decide for themselves what works best for their families. Some kids within families need a different approach and so would need a different curriculum for one subject or another. The internet has become a great tool for finding curricula, contacts, and so forth.

The Homeschool Defense Group(s) is/are a good idea, if one finds the Feds are mixing up the pot for their own benefit(s).
Members irishman
Home schooling takes a certain kind of diligence. many home-schoolers are not consistent enough to stick to a schedule every day. they get "busy" and tote the kids off to the store or parlor, etc. It is a commitment that you must earnestly consider before undertaking it. I believe it is quite beneficial though, if done right; there is no better teacher than mom or dad who love the kids, and are concerned for them. Some people like ACE curriculum, some Abeka, etc, there are some from BOB Jones Univ. I understand too. One would need to research the curriculum's and see what fits best for you and your family.
