Who are these people? Is there a website telling who they are?

Yes, they are the current Congressional Republicans, specifically Paul Ryan (R-WI).

That would explain why what I read sounded like it came from politicians! :coverlaugh:

Unfortunately this is most likely more words to itch the ears of those they need to vote for them.

While there are a tiny handful who hold some actual right principles and the virtue to stand upon them, most in congress govern with their finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing in the hopes of getting enough votes to keep their comfy jOBs.

What the Repub Party should have to explain is why they failed to do what was right during six years controlling congress with a sitting Repub president.

The Coach actually wrote a good commentary on politics which I posted earlier today. Imagine if professing Christians would take heed.

I agree with much of this post. I would add the following:

1. While it is true that the Republican Party should explain why they failed during that six year period of time, I believe it is more important for them to actually understand it and move forward with fixing it now. Fixing it is more important to me than getting my "pint of their blood." I'm fairly certain we know why it happened and I also believe many of them know they (being incumbents) will be paying a price for it come election day.

2. I'm not so naive as to believe all the Congressional Republicans are genuine and sincere when they make this pledge; but there does need to be a starting point for change and perhaps this could be it, we'll see. This "pledge" will not sway my opinion concerning any Republican currently in office in my voting realm; I am NOT voting for a single incumbent. I will vote to remove every incumbent. Perhaps then they will get message. I hope so, because if they don't this time I fear for an armed uprising in our nation.

I think we basically agree. I'm not talking about getting a "pint of their blood", but rather believing that if they are unwilling to acknowledge their failure, to repent if you will, and determine to take corrective actions now, then any pledge will lack credibility.

There are no incumbents that will be on my ballot that I'll be voting for.

Of course I still remember the "Contract With America" Newt and Company put forth, how it won them the election and gave them control...and then how they only made a show of trying to bring about some of the points in the contract and when the Dems fought them Newt declared defeat and it was business as usual.

One of the best comments on these plesges and contracts is that they should start actually
following the constitution, which they take oaths too, and don't. More pledges isn't the prOBlem.

I'd add to that they ought to be following the bible too. Entirely unpolitical, I'm all in favor of every politician believing in the divine inspiration of the old and new testaments like they did in 1776. If that doesn't already exist in common law, and can't be passed in today's climate, I at least like to see Christian candidates run on it.

I'd like to see a return to American style preaching from that era too. They apparently didn't believe in just a priesthood of believers, but also the sovereinty of the people, ie He has made us priests and kings unto God and his Father.

Compared to today, the preaching is effiminate, the churches are run by committees of women or heavily influenced by such, homosexuality is rampant, and if tyranny comes "we should just let it". Actually, jumping off the temple to your death, when you could have avoided it, "relying on God", is a sin, and one the devil tempted Jesus Christ with. This country could avoid the utter disaster it is facing if it would turn back to God and stop acting like a bunch of fools - and that definately includes the teaching in many of the churches.
