A Christian family turning away from God.

A few months back, it may have been more than a year, a Christian woman's husband died unexpectedly.

Since this time, she has a son who had a baby out of wedlock, a daughter who is running with the bad crowd and staying in trouble. Now she is walking away from God, wearing mini skirts, going with a man who is well known for drinking and not keeping a jOB.

Until this point in life, her father is a Baptist pastor, she seems to have walked properly, yet now the whole family seems to be turning from God and to old Satan. Her father was my pastor back in the 80's, I would rate him as one of my best pastors.

I might add, there is one more son, the oldest, I fear is walking down the same path.

It sure hurts to see this happen.

It is sad to watch someone walk away from God like that especially if it is someone you care about. We have a lady in our church who is doing just that. A year ago she found out her husband was exchanging texts with a girl barely out of high school. He wound up leaving his wife and moving in with this young girl and her parents. Her parents let him move in and the dad was teaching a Sunday school class at the time. It devastated this young woman and their 4 year old twins. At first, she seemed like she was drawing closer to God once some of the shock wore off, but now she is slipping away from God and out of church. It is sad to watch because to them they are not doing anything wrong and many times they will not receive correction or advice when it is given.

Sadly, it seems like there are a great many more falling away then there use to be. I suppose it is just prophecy coming true but it doesn't make it any easier to watch.

I lost my best friend due to this. :-(

Life dealt her some pretty hard knocks (husband was found into porn, and molesting her own daughter) and after she finalized the divorce and got her kids safe (moved away)....she pretty much turned her back on any and all friends she had in the past, and most beliefs she held in the past, standards, etc....I guess she feels God betrayed her so she no longer cares about "doing right". I feel awful about it.

I have another friend too that has decided church isn't worth it. God doesn't care about our day to day lives anyway, she believes.

I guess it has to do with our relationship with God BEFORE something bad happens. I know if I really studied my relationship with God, it may not be strong enough to get through a really bad trial...each of us could conceivably go the same way if we lost a family member or were sorely disappointed with someone...if we don't make sure our relationship with God is genuine.

Sorry Jerry.

My parents divorced when I was 12. My father was a deacon, the Sunday School superintendent, treasurer, and primary piano player. My mother was the organist. We were in church every time the doors were open from the time I was born until they got divorced. Then they both dropped out of church and took my brother and me along with them, so to speak.

I'm extraordinarily thankful the Lord still reached down to me after all that to save me. It's a shame when a family gets destroyed and turns away from the only guaranteed anchor we have.

I think that many times (in the case of persons being betrayed by fellow Christians) the person "falling away" from God is not doing that in their mind; they are getting away from the Church due to the hurt the people making up the Church caused. Some of them may even still keep a daily walk with the Lord, even though they can't bring themselves to go back to the very place they were crushed.

The closest Christian friend I ever had has fallen away too. Of all people, he would have been the last I would have thought would do such. This guy was grounded in the Word, we attended church and Bible studies together for years. We were there for one another through some very trying times and never once in the six or seven years we were close did I ever see him waver in the slightest.

Due to work and family situations we were separated. We kept in a bit of contact but then he stopped writing. I thought he had possible run into some prOBlem because at the very least he used to always send a Christmas email but they stopped too. Eventually I found him on Facebook and it seems he's like another person now. He doesn't want to talk about it and he's far away in another State so I don't know what happened.

Considering I always viewed him as being even steadier and more grounded in Christ that myself, finding out he fell away really hit me hard.

Well..in her case, everything she ever knew and believed sort of seemed to fall in on her, I guess, so she turned her entire life against what she used to believe.

She still believes in God, but has pretty much turned from any separation or standards or friends from her past. Not sure if she even goes to church or not.

That really does hurt John. May the Lord's presence help to comfort and heal that wound. Edited by trc123

How sad.
Unfortunately, Brother, it's everywhere. Every church I know of, (even the strongest ones) are facing this. I've never seen it this bad. True Christianity, is hard to find.

How sad, but, praise the LORD, He worked through all that and showed you your need of Him!
