1 Thessalonians 1

“Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;” (v.3)

The Work of Faith:
“Always abounding in the work of the Lord” (1 Cor. 15:58)
A necessary work;
A continual work;
A beneficial work.
A Labor of Love:
Our labor is vain without love;
Business has no heart; it is “all business”;
Never leave the love out of business!
The Patience of Hope:
Love has hope;
Labor has hope;
Hope is patient; patience looks to loves end, and works’ end.

Giving is a “work of faith”. It takes more faith to give sacrificially than nearly anything we do.

Helping out is a “labor of love”. The “workers” in the church know what a “labor of love” is.

Prayer is a “patience of hope”. Some cannot give much; some cannot help much, but all can pray for the work. Prayer actually employs all three; it is a labor of love; a work of faith; and the patience of hope all at the same time.
