Likely as not' date=' the magnitude of the Israeli response at this time is partly due to the fact Obama will be taking office in less than a month.[/quote']

That and in the very near future Israel has its own elections and Benjamin Netenhau (sp?) is right wing and doing very well in the polls, so the current (more moderate) Labor Party needs to put on a display of force to up their popularity prior to the election.

Very true. Liberals are willing to get tough and use the military when their political career and agenda are at stake. Sad how their appeasement and virtual "peace at all cost" policies set the stage for things like this and yet they can gain great credit for appearing to hit hard against the monster they themselves created.

Worse yet, once any threat to their power is ended, they return to the same failed policies.

Can anyone in their right mind blame Israel? Would we Americans set still and let someone toss bombs into our country killing innocent people day in day out?

Of course I expect the media to try their best to lay all the blame on Israel and take up for the real terrorist.

I just pray that America will stand with Israel.

1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Gen 12:1-3 (KJV)

Had America not held Israel back all these years I do believe Israel would have long ago driven these so-called Palestinians out of the area altogether. As it is, they have been allowed to remain, build their numbers and strength and have gained much world support by virtue of the fact they have now been there so long, have become so numerous, and many wish to see Israel weakened or destroyed.

America, no longer a nation with a right mind, has for some years now allowed Mexican criminals, border guards and military to take shots at Americans across the border and even to make incursions. They have allowed a million illegals to cross the border yearly and tons of drugs which further pollute, corrupt and weaken America from within.

So, sadly, yes a nation will allow itself to be violated, but one couldn't say they are in their right mind when they do so.

I can't blame Israel - they warned Hamas time and time again. I say, "Go Israel!" Hama had no right to be dropping mortars into Israel - Israel had done nothing to provoke it. They gave up Gaza, for Pete's sake!

I just wish Israel would finish it here and now instead of attacking for a bit and then pulling back and letting the terrorists get resituated you can't win a war that way... just look at Vietnam.

You may well be right on the mark. I feel in the past America should have dealt with problem quickly, them the problem would have been solved, instead it seems we stretch it out and cause the loss of many more life's and the problem goes unsolved.

Notice how much of the world is already calling on Israel to stop, claiming they are using "disproportionate" attacks, etc.

If Israel were to launch a full "cleanse Gaza" campaign nearly the entire world would condemn Israel, sanctions would be brought against her in the UN, the world media would be painting Israel as baby killers and creators of poor and destitute refugess, etc.

In earlier wars, when it would have been much easier for Israel to push these people away and to lay legitimate claim to the land, America pressured Israel to hold back. Today Israel is paying the price for paying heed to America.
