LOVE

Love, speeding by, as an arrow in the night;
Catching loose ends as they cut through the fog;
Reeling, this way, and that.
Finding solid ground for a tender foot;
Catching a mere glimpse of it’s feathery breech;
Longing inside to grasp its tender boughs;
Reaching out to empty, endless streets,
As it aims its darts at eternal bliss.

Love, elusive as a summer breeze,
As quick as a lightning bolt creasing the sky;
A fleeting moment, a tear-stained cheek,
Love sustained, yet out of reach.
As awesome as a hurricane’s fury,
As gentle as a flowering hillside;
As tranquil and vast as a great chasm,
As majestic as the mountain’s rills.

Love, the tool of God to mend our hearts;
The weapon of man to manipulate the will;
The mystery of emotions, the master of good,
Who can take hold of its mighty hand?
Who can search the depth of its being?
Only God can know the uniqueness of love,
The beauty of life’s most powerful seeing;
The eternal state of life’s most holy bliss.

This is love’s endless joy,
The excitement of knowing, and being;
The depth of all emotions,
In the sea of life’s most sacred hopes.
Love, in its tenderest form,
Given with no strings attached,
Out of a pure heart it is born,
And giving its best to all it will.

Taking ought for its ransom,
Caring nil for whom it finds;
Love’s clutches embrace the woeful heart,
The rich and the mighty in life;
Love conquers mans will, dominates his heart,
Drives him past the ‘ternal realms of peace;
Ne’er does its garment fade nor wear thin,
But it gives freely to the entire human race.

The undefined elements of love’s blessed zeal;
The unknown description of its mighty force;
The ultimate hope of life’s greatest despair,
Yet fastened with grace to the heart.
The enemy of fools, folly’s demise;
To act as a fence from life’s woes;
To add to the joy of a wondrous life,
Oh, the joy that floods my soul.

The sweetest thing this side of Heaven,
And the bane of all who love despair.
Love is the essence of the happy soul,
It is the fuel of the fires of zeal.
The refining power of its mighty hand,
Is there to soothe the path of sorrows;
It is all consuming, in its duty,
It is yesterday’s, today’s, and tomorrows.

Love transcends all boundaries of time;
It breaks the bands of sin,
It excuses the guilty and pardons the cursed,
And find its way into the heart of men.
Though elusive in the younger days,
It’s well worth the plight;
Half of the joy of finding it,
Comes from the struggle and fight!

As love shines its golden rays
Upon one lonely soul,
It creeps deep into the life and heart;
It determines our cause, and our motive in life,
And brightens the pathways of strife.
It gleans strength from the weak,
And glory from the low,
Its there for all men to ponder and enjoy.

To partake of its lovely grace
Is a great privilege indeed;
To soar the lofty heights of love
Fulfills the greatest need.
Few find the enchantment of love,
And few even care to look;
But when found and applied to life
It makes the heart to bleed.
