Members 1Timothy115
One Trillion Dollar Debt...that's a lot of zeros after the one.1,000,000,000,000 2 Corinthians 9:12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God; What can we give if our dollar becomes worthless around the world? Members brodave
A trillion dollars = $1,000,000,000,000. That's 12 zeroes to the left of the decimal point. A trillion is a million million dollars. The U.S. government spends more than the entire Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Australia, China and Spain combined. If you laid one dollar bills end to end, you could make a chain that stretches from earth to the moon and back again 200 times before you ran out of dollar bills! One trillion dollars would stretch nearly from the earth to the sun. It would take a military jet flying at the speed of sound, reeling out a roll of dollar bills behind it, 14 years before it reeled out one trillion dollar bills. So, would you say we could have had nearly one million millionaires for the $700 Billion banker bailout? Could we have given the $700B to the individuals and had that infusion into the economy instead of some fat cat bankers getting trips to Hawaii and $3Million bonuses? Could the award been in the form of a special bank card? Could there be a clause that all awardees must buy American made? Could there be a clause that it would be taxable? Would individuals have spent that money on houses, durable goods, and stimulated American manufacturing. Could a few of us IFBers been the winner and contributed to American made products for our foreign missionaries? Just some idle thoughts provoked by your comments. Members John81
The "conservative" Republicans who controlled the congress and White House for six years managed to outdo the Dems in terms of irresponsible spending and running up the deficit. Of course the Dems now have an open door to outdo this as the Repubs have set the stage for such and with the excuse of needing to stimulate the economy they will have the backing of many. As most families know, but politicians don't care about, you can't drastically increase spending in one or several areas and stay anywhere near in budget without making cuts elsewhere or increasing revenues. All of this is setting the stage for yoking America with other nations financially. The running up of governmental debt in order to "rescue" the economy is little more than placing a band-aid upon a gaping wound. All of this debt will one day bite us and bite us hard. Guest Guest
We can spread the gospel instead of cash, because the good news is precious as gold right?
Members John81
We can spread the gospel instead of cash' date=' because the good news is precious as gold right?[/quote'] We should be doing that always as well! For many Americans it's easy to write a check to support the missionary from the church or some church group which spreads the Gospel and feel no need to do so themselves. Also, many Americans seem to think the Gospel needs to be spread in Africa and Asia but not really here in America.
Members JerryNumbers
America is built on money, nothing else. Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Is it not happening right before our eyes? Is not the problem thieves are breaking through and stealing, and our government is putting money right back into their hands? Sad, many try their best to serve God, but money gets in their way.
