Members JerryNumbers
OBama Faces Tough Sell on Afghan Plan Democrats concerned over the price tag have proposed a war tax to pay for operations. Rep. David OBey, D-Wis., chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, has introduced legislation to impose a war surtax beginning in 2011. The bill would exempt service members and their families. Yes, they mention a war tax in this article, our law makers are tax makers, and set around day dreaming about new ways of squeezing taxes out of its citizens. We'll all be lucky to have enough food to eat once they roll out all of these new taxes to cover all of their outrageous gov't spending. Members Kubel
We are already paying a war tax. 95% of Americans are unaware of this tax. It's called inflation. And this tax is especially destructive to middle and lower income folks. The old ways of openly taxing people is over with. Now we just send the bills to the Federal Reserve, they print more money. Politicians are happy because they can pay for stuff without having to upset their constituents with taxes. It's a huge scheme that needs to end. But it won't. The value of the dollar will plummet until it's determined that a one-world currency is needed for glOBal economic stability. And it will be the same folks responsible (like the Fed) doing the same nonsense that they are doing today (paying debt by printing more money). Ron Paul says this new world currency is coming, very shortly. I believe him.
Members no name joe
Well, this war has to be paid for in some way. A war tax is not unusual. During WWII, income tax rates were sky high.
Members kevinmiller
Well, this war has to be paid for in some way. Got a good answer for that. End it. We need someone like Ron Paul as our president. He's prOBably the only politician I would trust to actually fix the mess we've gotten ourselves into rather than screwing it up even more like Bush did, OBama is doing, and like McCain would've done. Besides, most of their spending is wasteful spending. But of course in a few short years if they stay on this course they will have this United States completely bankrupt and our nations will fall. Members ladynaive07
A fantastic idea. If people have to pay for the chasing the illusion of safety. Rather than passing the cost off to their children, perhaps they'll be a bit more responsible about where they waste their money. ________________________Filing Back Taxes
Members Psalms18_28
I wondered if war tax was one of the causes of depression

Members Psalms18_28
I think if people are against war, why do they want to fund it even more?
Members kevinmiller
Cause you have to fund them if they're already over there. Personally, I'd bring them home.
Members Psalms18_28
They are being funded without the increase tax. they just want little bit money of gov't money for other things. but oh well, I wouldn't want the soldiers to suffer. I'm just surprised they are requesting this after they threatened to cut off funding.
Members kevinmiller
I think we could do without at least half of what the fed is doing right now at about a fraction of the cost. Protect the country, unite the country, guarantee freedoms and stay the heck out of my life beyond that.
