Sadly, many people will feel "good" and "patriotic" sending in their money. Of course, the gov'mt will just spend it in a wasteful way. It would be much better to simply "go buy something." (of course the best would be to give to the church or missions!)

One thing our government can do very good, is waste money. If ever American spent money as our government does this country would have gone under years ago.

No doubt Gregg has it right, any good Christian ought to give that money towards the work of God and gain treasures in heaven.
