Genesis 1:28 KJV: And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. I have been asked by a Ruckmanite about this verse. I know that my father and i went round and round about this verse and the one word "replenish" in particular. If the "Gap Theory" isn't correct, then what is the resoning behind this particular word being used in the English (KJVO) translation?

I am coming across more and more Christians who believe the Earth is anywhere from 20K to 250 billion years old. What Biblical basis would they possibly have for such beliefs? I could possibly understand the 20K range, but longer? It's highly debatable. I don't understand where they could get such a notion. Any reasonable explanations in your minds?

One of the problems of not accepting a literal interpretation of Genesis is that, Genesis being so foundational for so much of what we believe, we can easily go astray on vital matters. 3 examples will suffice: 1. I heard this over thirty years ago on a late night AM radio station. (Genesis 1:1) "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." The very first verse of the King James Bible contains a trinity of trinities consisting of time, space and matter. "In the beginning" = Time (Past Present Future) "God created the heaven" = Space (Length Width Height) "and the Earth" = Matter (Solid Liquid Gas) I just love things like this.

Someone shared this video on facebook and I thought it was interesting. I had not heard of the Caddisfly before, but apparently fly fishermen have! What I found interesting is that the Caddisfly larvae have the ability to build themselves a protective covering, binding it together with a sticky silk they produce. In the video they call it "evolution". However, when I looked these critters up on wikipedia, they've been found in fossil records that date back over '250 million years ago', with nary a change. This is a true story from my area... Recently, a group of college students from a nearby university volunteered to "help" at a nearby elementary school. Unbeknownst to the school's administration, the college students spent their time preaching evolution to the children. They even had an "altar call" when it was over...asking that if they (the elementary children) believed what they had just heard, to just raise their hands. Apparently all but one child was "saved" ... In other words, all but one child raised their hands to acknowledge that they believed in evolution. I'm not sure at this point what (if any) repercussions will…

A whale fossil was discovered on a mountain in California on September 4... The fact that a whale fossil was found on a mountain isn't necessarily the focus of the article; they focus on HOW it got there. I was thinking about something that bothered my last night. Dinosaurs on the ark never made sense to me. Why save the dinosaurs if they were just gonna die right away due to climate change. Either they were an abomination created in Genesis 6 or perhaps prior between Genesis 1:1-2 and were wiped out during Lucifer's rebellion. Incidentally, Satan is compared to a dragon aka dinosaur.

The Bible teaches by man came death. At the end of creation week, there was no evil in the universe. God declared all He had made very good. All the angels rejoiced on day three - when the foundations of the earth were laid - Job 38:7 - which meant none had fallen yet. You can also see the same order of events of creation week (as shown in Job 38) presented the same way in Psalm 104. Satan walked in Eden before he fell - Ezekiel 28:13 - and Eden was not created until day 6. Nowhere does the Bible state Adam and Eve fully understood how death would affect things, only that it was promised as a judgement if they sinned. Satan fell sometime after creation week, then he later tempted Eve and Adam; and their sin resulted in death, the curse, etc. being brought on creation, including all biological life. Romans 5 is very clear on that. -
