Some have the opinion that I am wrong in my view of eternal security. Here is one post I stated - "Hold on here fellas. Eternal life starts at death. We don't get eternal life while here, so we can't lose it! It is the promise of eternal life that Christ purchased through his death burial and resurrection. That promise is fulfilled in each one that believes in Jesus Christ with all their heart. When someone believes with all their heart, they don't just one day choose not to. That is not the type of creature we are after salvation. The scriptures say we are a NEW creature! Not the old. Yes we can choose to disobey and do ungodl…

Greetings! How do we know that we're Christians? What defines a Christian? Well, the biblical answer would be two fold: 1) *knowledge, *belief (or assent), and *trust in Jesus Christ. 1. Knowledge in that one intellectually apprehends the essential facts of who Christ is--namely, that He is God in the flesh (sent by the God the Father) that He really died and *physically* raised from the grave, and born of a virgin (also including the facts of the Tri-unity of God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit sharing the nature of the ONE God, i.e., one God co-existing as three eternal, equal, "distinct" persons). 2. Belief (or assent) in those facts. 3. Tr…

Pre- Christ justification?
by Guest- 5 replies

Here's a starting point... Psalms 143:2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. I read the scripture above during today's devotions and wondered what others may have settled on. I took the framework for this from Evans... William Evans ...so what was the the source of justification before Christ's birth, death, ressurection? Ed. for clarification.

How does one explain color to a blind man? Or how can we describe sound to him that is deaf? Could a dead man understand what it is to live again? So it is with trying to explain eternal things to a carnal man; Or trying perhaps, to enlighten a mna who lives and walks in darkness; These things are impossible to explain unless there is a divine intervention. One of the "rules" of soul winning that I have been taught, was to expect someone to get saved. Can I expect a blind man to see? Or a corpse to rise again aside from divine intervention? No, we must go in the power of the Holy Spirit, and let His purpose be accomplished. Of course we don't lead everyone we…

[flash=]As I already stated when I introduced myself in the other forum. I come from a long line of radical pentecostal/ holiness/ full gospel believers. Last year I begin having questions re: many topics, I searched and searched for answers, went to my husband, then to our bible study teacher, and then to the pastor. I never could get a good straight biblical answer. With that being said here goes my first question, I hope that I am not out of line by coming here to ask instead of my husband, but I did go to him first but he did not give me a biblical answer, just what he had been taught and heard all these years..... This is actually a two part question I suppose....T…

If a person basically swore before God saying, before God I say this, and lied, can he or she be forgiven if they completely regret and repent for it?

- According to Christ's sayings; the properties of night and day are distinctly different. ● John 11:9-10 . . Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him. The light of this world is the sun. ● Gen 1:14 . . And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night ● Gen 1:16 . . And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night So then; when…

I'm hoping this is in the right place, but I'm new so sorry if it isn't. My husband and I are Christian and trying to find a path to convert denominations to IFB. Specifically I am because my husband doesn't really care one way or the other but I'm hoping to change his heart about it. I don't know where to start. There are Independent Baptist churches near me (we are going to one in a few minutes) but no IFB churches. I feel lost.

II Corinthians 5:17 says Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Within the past couple months at the church I am a member of has seen a few folks get saved and folks join the church. I praise the Lord for that. But something seems to be off. According to the verse above when we are in Christ old things are passed away and all things are become new. My old life is dead and buried and I'm given a new life in Christ. Why is there then for lack of a better word so many "worthless" Christians? "Christians" that would rather live like the world then live the more abundant life that they have b…

- ● Acts 1:1-3 . .The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: to whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. That's fine that Jesus showed himself alive to the apostles by many convincing proofs; but where's our proofs? How are his followers today supposed to be convinced Jesus is alive? ● 1Cor 9:1 . . Have I not seen Jesus Christ our …

"Matthew 10:5-6 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Under two gospel doctrine, “gospel of the Kingdom” teaches Jesus and the twelve disciples never entered nor preached in Samaria. The above verse is quoted as an absolute not as a one mission event. Does Jesus or any of His disciples ever travel to Samaria? John Chapter 4 3 He (Jesus) left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. 4 And He must needs go through Samaria. 5 Then cometh He to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, ne…

Hebrews 12:5-11 says, "And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they veril…

I just thought Id post up the simple truth about God's will for sinners. These verses have been very comforting to me recently, and I believe that they can help people who might be going through some of the same things I have. If you ever doubt your salvation, or if you have loved ones that are not saved then meditate on these promises from the Lord. " For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth" 1 Timothy 2:3,4 " And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, ' Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?' But when Jesus heard that, he said un…

I too have struggled with Yes and No, Right and Wrong. It notoriously bugs me. My dads family being Salvationists, and my mother being an unfit mother. Then theres me. The struggle in my life is undoubtably crushing at times. Even so recently. I struggle with alot and often times let myself down by throwing down the fight knowing I'm going to be wrong in doing so . Throwing in the towel is no way to do it. Often times I wonder what am I trying to prove to myself. I've learned a few things since joining the board. Question is why am I kidding myself, thinking I can do it by myself. Whats wrong with me. I can give great advice but have a hard time taking advice. This is tru…

I was reading the Eternal Security thread and am still kind of puzzled since I do come from a background that states that one can lose their salvation and am beginning to understand that if one is truly saved that they cannot lose their salvation. Is this, "truly saved", referring only to those that attempt not to live a sinful life? I know we are all going to sin and that we just have to dust ourselves and get up and keep going... That's how the guy that led me to Christ today explained it, in my own words of course. So how does one know if they are truly saved or not and know that their salvation can never be removed? But if one can backslide, how does their salvati…

I have no idea how many of you are visiting here looking for truth about God. Some may have other motives but, I’m not speaking to them today. I’m speaking about Jesus Christ and your questions about Him and your own eternal soul. You see many topics here and the resulting discussions may confuse you. You probably wonder how so many of us can trust in what we cannot see and can believe the Bible holds the truth. There is so much you want to know and so much you want to ask. Ask those questions and allow those here to show you the alternative to your doubt or skepticism. You can find the truth so many of us have found within the Bible. John 20:31 But these are written…
