1 Peter 3: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. It specifies only the "disobedient" spirits which were BEFORE the flood. I was going to mention this in another thread but it was closed.

I have been trying to determine the biblical order that occurs in salvation. Not looking to debate here but simply get your input. It seems to me that the proper order would be... Hearing the word Conviction godly sorrow (worketh repentance) confession of sin which I believe happens simultaneously with repentance (Mark 1:4-5) Baptism (not required for salvation) Walking in newness of life (evidence of salvation) Your thoughts, Orvals

Eternal Rewards Daniel 12:1–3 KJV 1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. Notice verse 3! I believe our brightness wil…

I have a question regarding salvation. I believe we are saved when we believe in the gospel....the moment. BUT, when I got saved I didn't really feel saved until I grew more as a christian, my faith grew, strengthened, and confirmed that i was indeed a child of God. Sometimes I doubt that I was saved at that moment, because I didn't feel like it. On the other hand, I don't believe we are saved on confidence, but all faith we have on Jesus and 0 on everything else. In other words, it doesn't matter how much faith we have, just that it all must be on him. Thoughts?

What is the condition of being saved? 1 2

The bible tells us that the condition that we have to be in, in order to be saved, is a sinless condition. Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. If we should sin, then we should repent, immediately, if we want to stay in a saved condition. 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: Notice the words, "if any man sin", that statement shows us that it is possible to sin and to miss out on our Salvation. That is why, we have the benefit of repenta…

I received this website link from FBIS (Way of Life Literature) on Thursday, October 4, 2007: http://www.repentanceblacklist.com/ This website is provided by Pastor Steven L Anderson, pastor of Faithful Word Baptist Church, Phoenix, Arizona. I believe Pastor Steven L. Anderson is a member of OB and goes by the nic sanderson1769 Has anybody else received this email from David Cloud's ministry? Here's a short paragraph from the email: I don't believe that this is part of the doctrinal statement of OB. This person is slandering many godly Christian men and ministries. Any thoughts?

. †. John 6:16-21 . . And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea and entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. . . . And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went. According to Matthew's version, Peter ventured out on the water. †. Mtt 14:28-31 . . And Peter answ…

For a while now, I have been attending a Church(IFB), while I am waiting for the Lord to open a door for my next pastorate; And although(for the most part), I very much enjoy the opportunity to be “preached to”, I am not on the “exact same page” as my pastor. This can be somewhat expected, because I have never found “two Baptist” that totally agree 100%. Anyway, recently the LORD reminded me, not to loose sight of “the main thrust of ministry”; This reminder was needed because all I have been hearing, is “soul winning, soul winning, soul winning”. Now, although I do tell people about Jesus and about their need for a Born Again experience and “sometimes” people respond…

I've really been struggling in my mind over something lately. It seems there are a whole lot of churches that have bus ministries that bring in children who make salvation decisions, but then when they become a teenager or adult or they move away, etc.., they just quit on God altogether and live the worldly life and totally forget about their childhood decision. Is their salvation not real? Is it possible to get saved and then just forget about your salvation for the rest of your life?

Ga 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Ga 5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. Ga 5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Ga 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. A Christian can't lose their salvation, if they are actualy saved, but they can fail to stand, and fall from grace and as such Christ will profit nothing, and the Christian can be in a state of worse sinning than they were …

I would like to know what you believe it means to "call upon the name of the Lord". I am convinced that we have put a lot of emphasis on the prayer. The key is the word "call" does this word mean pray? I believe it means: to trust; to depend upon; to believe. Much like when I teach a class I "call" on my experience to help me. Or the way my wife has called upon me for all most 30 years to take care of her. What do you think?

I have been troubled by something I have recently seen. I hope someone can shed some light on this topic for me. I will do more research on it, but obviously there is only so much time, and i hoped that one of you have done the research already. Basically, in the video it quotes church Bishops that were directly linked to the apostles. It basically states that the early church taught salvation in 2 stages...1. Grace through Faith. (which is what we cling to) 2 After conversion it describes Eternal Security as conditional. He said the apostles didn't worry about their salvation, but taught that a person can walk away basically. I immediately thought to myself this guy is a…

This week we have been having revival services and today I thought I would share what the one Pastor was talking about. Faith is tried, it is tested and it can be true. The Pastor was pretty much talking about the man who was born a cripple. Turn to Mark 2vs1-5 As we know the four friends carried him to go see Jesus and when Jesus saw them it says in verse 5 Jesus saw their faith because they had so much of it. I mean think about it wouldn't it be great if Jesus could see our faith because their is so much of it. I don't know about you but I say too many times our minds doubt the power of God and instead we are filled with fear and this is a serious thing because it can …

I have seen on a number of threads here this "repentance unto salvation" terminolgy used. I am curious as to the doctrine behind this and how many people in the IB churches ascribe to this doctrine?

I recently was talking to a catholic about James. He said James meant exactly what he said and then wrote down a list as fallows: (Matthew 25:31-46) (Matthew 7:21) (John 5:28-29) (Romans 2:6) (2 Corinthians 5:10) (1Peter 1:17) (Revelation 20:12) (Revelation 22:12) After looking at these verses I am quite confused. They would all seem to imply that we are judged on what we do and not just our faith. Could some one please explain these to me? I

My Pastor and I were talking the other day about how often man entangles his traditions or own thinking :ideas: into scripture and does not even realize it, and how careful we must be to be sure we are letting scripture interpret scripture. One area I have noticed being around many of the bretheren is the judgement of weather or not someone is saved. We preach salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and that it is a gift Eph 2:8-9, Rom 10:9-13 etc. Then when Christian sins or does not walk as we think they should walk the accusations fly of "he is not saved" "she can't be saved" etc. Yes James said faith without works is dead and Christ said by thier fr…

Romans 5:1 & 5:2 are talking about two different things. V1 starts with ‘therefore’ and is summing up ‘Justification by faith’ V2 is a change of topic and is about ‘Standing’, which is also accessed by faith and is also possible by Grace. The access is permanent and fixed, the entering and standing are down to us (many versions of the modern Bibles obscure this change and distinction of topic and make both verses about the one topic, Justification.) If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
