From what I understand to repent means to turn away from....right? I want to use an example to ask my question. Suppose a person falls down on their knees and crys out to God to forgive them of there sins, Lets say this person is a smoker, or gambler, or drinker, whatever, and they too ask specific forgiveness of that particular sin...When the person is done praying they get up, dry off their face and go do that same exact sin immediately.....Is this genuine repentance??? Did this person repent?

I was just having an interesting conversation with a co-worker who was an IFB but was led astray by Calvinism and turned Presbyterian (there were also pot-shots being thrown in by our resident Lutheran...). He asked whether regeneration came before or after salvation. I, of course, said after and explained non-Calvinist salvation to him. Why this caught me off-guard I'm not sure because I know the Reformed position, but he was completely stuck on Ephesians 2:8-9, though not in the way that we understand it. Both of them are convinced that accepting the free gift of salvation is a decision and thus action taken to affect salvation and thus a work that can be boasted. …

Cowards-The Repentance Lie 1 2 3 4

Like I said, these guys are cowards!(Thats why they keep deleting my posts) They believe this false Babylonian Catholic "repent unto salvation" gospel. I have already proved them to be apostate,I have given a list of every verse in the Bible with "repent" in it,and proved that not everyone repents to be saved. They refuse to give answer to the "Evidence That Demands A Verdict"! The gospel of John mentions "believe" 90 times and the word "repent" is mentioned NONE!(The same amount of verses they have to prove their false Babylonian doctrine.) "Believe" is mentioned 6 to 1 over "repent" and "repent" is one of the least talked about subjects in the Bible. They have ye…

Why Calvinism cannot be true 1 2 3 4

Here are the notes from the message my pastor preached about election on Wednesday night. It was the most easily understood message on the subject that I have ever head and it shows clearly why Calvinism is false doctrine. If you want to hear the entire message, it will be up soon on the website (I don't know how soon, my husband is going to maintain the website but the website isn't finished yet). It will probably just be titled 1 Thessalonians 1:2-4. It will be one of the very first messages there, as it was our second ever Wednesday night service on Wednesday so there aren't too many archives haha. http://www.heritagebapt.com/ Heritage Baptist Church, Picayune …

The Day I Changed- Salvation happened to me 1 2 3 4

I was saved on Feb. 25, 1973. I received the Holy Ghost and spoke in another language, just like the 120 did on the Day of Pentecost in Acts the 2nd chapter. It was really wonderful... experiencing the Supernatural God for myself. Just like the 39th verse it is for us today as it was for them in Acts 2nd Chapter. The Holy Ghost will guide us into all truth and help us overcome temptation so we can have power to endure to the end to remain saved. My life really changed when I received the Holy Ghost. Peter was given the keys to the Kingdom and the keys were to unlock the way to Salvation. When the people in the 2nd Chapter of Acts, ask what they must do, he told them in t…

People rather be peaceful and phony to do meetings with each other in the name of Jesus. Your called a bully and judgmental person if your really not a phony in the body of Christ today. Your called a negative person if your not a phony in the body of Christ too. Anybody tired of phony people and phony meetings in the name of Jesus? Who hungry to be around real bible believers like David, Amos and Paul encouraged? I'm tired of being around phony people just to be around a humble and nice peaceful person only. Who hungry for a equal yoke with bible believers like David, Amos and Paul urged? Who tired of being around phony people just to be around entertainment and s…

Question for the Calvinists 1 2 3 4

According to Calvinists: Only God knows who will be saved, and who will go to Hell. (that is my take, as described by the Calvies) So, how can a Calvinist rightfully claim to "know" that they are saved? [ If they say, " I am one of the "elect", then how do they know for sure- that they are- after all, only God has determined that ( according to Calvinists)] [ How can Calvinists be assured of their salvation, when they accept assumptions] Here is what I would be like, If I were to have been duped by Calvinism: "I am saved" , but " Am I actually one of the "elect"?" " The Bible says, " whosoever" but " Am I one of those elected whosoevers" "T…

It may sound like a simple question at first, but give it some thought before answering. And to be clear, I am not asking if men were "saved" before Pentecost, I am asking if men were regenerated prior to Pentecost. Either way you understand it, please include a Scriptural Basis for you response. God bless.

Greetings I am a firm believer in eternal security (Once Saved; Always Saved). I would like to answer your questions regarding troublesome passages that many think imply that one can lose their eternal security. May the LORD bless these exchanges! Dr. Olson

Matthew 1:21 And she (Mary) shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. The question becomes who is "his people". Some teach this is the Jewish Nation. They are Mary's people and Jesus is Mary's son. What did Jesus say? John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Well that would mean everyone is "his people". God owning all the people, Jews & Gentiles. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he h…

What is Faith? Is it a "blind leap in the dark?" Is it believing in something that we can not know? Further, is faith an action or is it a thought?

How does one reconcile Matthew 18:15-17 in the realm of forgiveness except to call it reconciliation or church discipline? Mat 6:14 Mat 6:15 Eph 4:32 How has God forgiven you? 1Jo 1:9 Luk 17:3 Forgiveness sounds conditional in the sense of scripture as recorded in Luke 17:3. Psalm 82:2-3 has me wondering whether we do justice if we overlook the wrongs unrepentent people do.

Saved or Savable? 1 2 3

I have a question. The moment Christ died on the cross, did He save you and reconcile you to God or did He make you savable and make it possible for you to be reconciled to God? What do you think and why?

There is an 800 page book by author Dan Corner, it supposedly has all the bible info on how and why you can lose your salvation. He cannot differentiate between Eternal Security and OSAS. OSAS is a license for immorality as he correctly mentions in his book, and at the same time says that Eternal Security and OSAS are one and the same with regards to a license for immorality. He explains why Eternal Security is dangerous and a damnable heresy because folks would say, "I can sin all Iwant, I am saved and can't lose it no matter how I live my life." This could not be further from the truth. It is written: "...and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified…

2001 Translation, has removed; soul, grace, gospel, hell, Christ, Cross, Spirit, everlasting life, and who knows what else... The translators of this version are not wanting to adhere to any doctrine; but without doctrine what is the bible worth-nothing... It seems that ever-so-often someone comes out of some seminary somewhere, and thinks that they can reconfigurate, reorganize, redistibute the word of God... I call them all "just another version"... the K.J.V. is in my opinion still the best soulwinning tool that the soulwinner has, because... ...it has soul, grace, gospel, hell, Christ, cross, Spirit, everlasting life and all of there doctrines in-tact and ready t…

I was wondering what you think of what I like to call "Instant" repennters, people who plan on sinning and then pray for forgiveness of that sin. They make a habit of sinning and repenting, with no intention of giving up the sinful behaviour they repented for.

This was taken from an article by a Calvinist, teaching 'perseverence of the saints'. It is, I believe, from the RSV(Revised Standard Version). Notice the wording in the last sentence of each and tell me if you notice a subtle but drastic difference in meaning between this and the KJB. Here is what the King James says .... 2 Peter 1:10-11 10Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 11For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I know this could be in the wrong forum, but it has to do wit…

WARNING - It's a little long! PART 1 I am sure many of you are aware that there are those who posit that either A) there is no "Hell" or everybody will be saved, or C) "Hell" is just death (or the grave), or finally D) they can not believe in "a God" that would condemn so many to eternal punishment. I am not interested in "apologetics" for the sake of debate. I am interested in "apologetics" so I can better answer questions when dealing with either non believers or with a fellow maturing Christian (of which I too am hopefully growing). Background: The term "hell" in the Bible (KJV) in the OT is translated from the word "sheol". It is translated as such 31 t…

Recently heard a preacher say that if someone doesn't believe in the diety of Christ, or does not believe Christ is God, that person can't be saved. Does anyone know where this doctrine came from in the Bible and/or what verse(s) substantiate this statement? This is not a discussion of the trinity, or church history, or creeds. I would like to keep this focused on the question. Thanks.

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire: 12 Whose fan [is] in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. 13 ¶ Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he …
