FBI issues cyber security warning to all users of Microsoft Explorer 8 Wow, you would think with MS building computer systems that they could do much better than this, but them we must remember all the junk they've tried to sell us. I have hardly used IE in several years, for quite sometime I used Firefox, them when Chrome came out switched to it. To me it seems they load faster than IE, & be more secure too.

Windows: It’s over, tech site declares "Calling the latest operating system a “failure” and Microsoft’s leaders “idiots,” a top tech website has proclaimed the PC era over. Windows is coming to a dead end, they say. PC shipments collapsed in the last quarter by almost 14 percent, analysts with IDC said last week, marking the biggest drop in sales since the firm started tracking them 19 years ago. The problem, said ZDNet’s well respected Steven J. Vaughn-Nichols, isn’t the designs from the likes of HP and Dell or the size of consumer’s wallets. It’s Microsoft."

I am going to post a response I posted on a separate thread in case the thread I posted on gets removed because this is important. There was a post that led users to a password checking site, and here is my response to that: ********* DO NOT USE THIS Never, EVER, EVER go to some site that poses as a "password checking" site. Most important sites that you subscribe to have their own password checking program that will tell you if it is secure or not on a rating system. Any website you visit can track what IP you logged in from and then use that to track your browsing activity and gain back door access to your cache where many people have stored us…

National Paper takes a Swipe at ‘Great Printer Rip Off’ Posted by Cormac ReynoldsOn Mar - 7 - 2013 There have been plenty of stories in the past about the exorbitant cost of printer ink. We’ve heard how it is more costly than the finest champagnes or even Chanel No.5 – a quite expensive perfume as any boyfriend or husband will know. The Daily Mail’s recent post on the topic has suggested that a typical family can easily spend £200 a year on printer ink, though paid even more notice to the fact that ink cartridges are getting smaller, while companies make it harder to buy recycled and refilled cartridges. The paper has even gone as far to say ‘In a world of scams, dod…

Here while back on my Chrome browser over on the right hand side a drop-box appeared, I believe it said search here. I kept trying to figure out where it come from, for I don't remember downloading it, & I noticed tonight in my extensions Default Tap showed up there. I found it in Programs & features & just delete it. Now its gone. I read on the net that it comes from Yahoo & it may be male-ware. Has anyone had this to install on their computer?

Windows 8: Hate It Already? Why Waiting for Windows 9 Won't Help I had though deeply about going with the cheap upgrade to Windows 8. Yet from what I read that would not be an improvement to Windows 7. Perhaps if I ran around with one of those little computer things held to my face all the time Windows 8 might be welcomed, but the only thing I use is this desktop.

We all know that running an online forums presents challenges, one of those challenges is to keep spammers out. We try, but we are not always successful in it. The tide now for spammers has changed a little. Any of you that do any kind of SEO know's about Google Panda and Penguin updates that penalized websites that spammed online and Google dropped them in the search rankings. Since that has happened, spammers now sent out emails to Websites asking for links that they replaced to be removed. I get a couple of these a week, and I just find the humor in it all. All those links everyone wanted to place on OB, and the ones that have been successful got penalized and are now…

If you've got Java you should consider blocking it. Just do a search of Java & you will find out its vulnerable & might cause you a nightmare. To find Java in a Chrome browser place //settings/content in your address bar & it should take you to it.

Time Warner Cable Sued Over Internet Modem Lease 'scam'
by Guest 1Timothy115- 9 replies

Beginning this month Time Warner began charging an Internet Modem "Lease" fee. There is a class action suit already in the works. Time Warner Cable Sued Over Internet Modem Lease 'Scam' I'm in Ohio and paying $37.95 for the lowest end service TWC has available to residential customers. Now they're adding the "Internet Modem Lease" fee of $3.95 taking the total cost of services up to $41.90 and I have a "BUNDLE" (should be boondogle) so my taxes went up from $0.33 to $0.61 a $0.28 cent increase bringing the total cost of this scam to $4.23 and monthly charge to $42.18. I'll be following this class action suit and possibly contacting the lawyer involved.

I have recently had problems using OLB with I.E. 9. I keep getting the message that "Online Baptist is not responding" and that IE will close down. It got worse yesterday when it happened every few minutes, and today I got the message as soon as I OLB loaded. Anyone else had this problem?

I have been trying out Zionworx software to perhaps use for hymns on the PC and a projector , at times in church, instead of the OHP. On this program you have 2 screens, one for the operator and one just showing the hymns on the display sent to the projector. To do this on a laptop, you set it up to use an extended desktop on the second screen. On the church laptop, I got if right, but on my new laptop, when set for extended desktop I just get the PC desktop wallpaper . Another thing is that my mouse pointer keeps changing to the extended screen. I am just using a TV at present to try out the second display. On Zionworx, you press f2 to toggle the display, and thet…

I want to learn a good web development language. I've been looking around on the internet for good ones to learn, but everyone says something different. I'm kinda leaning toward PHP and MySQL. I have basic knowledge of C++, Java, and HTML. Is PHP a good route to go? I want to learn something useful and not overly complex.

Over the last few months I have had quite a number of calls saying that my PC is sending messages that it is compromised. These purport to come from either some computer consultancy, or "Windows" or Microsoft. These usually are people who have heavy Asian accents which are sometimes almost unintelligable. I answered one with "Microsoft would employ somebody who could speak English" My wife answered one such call yesterday and said, "My husband deals with my PC and he is not here." Does anyone else get such calls or does anyone know what their game is. No doubt it is a scam.
