I found the following on the web and I was blessed by it....may you also find it a blessing.... :) The Splashes Of Life A Sioux Indian story...My grandfather took me to the fish pond on the farm when I was about seven, and he told me to throw a stone into the water. He told me to watch the circles created by the stone. Then he asked me to think of myself as that stone person. "You may create lots of splashes in your life but the waves that come from those splashes will disturb the peace of all your fellow creatures," he said. "Remember that you are responsible for what you put in your circle and that circle will also touch many other circles. You will n…

Phillis Wheatley, (1754?-1784), was a negro slave brought from Africa, became a Christian, and was highly respected among those who read her works. Phillis was well received by the Colonists, created the eulogy for George Whitfied when she was 16 years old, and in 1776 was received by General Washington. Note: the spacing, and italics, are as the book, 'The American Tradition in Literature, Vol. 1,Fouth Edition,' quotes the poem. The original poem may be found in, 'Poems on Various subjects, Religious and Moral, London, 1773.' An Hymn to the Evening. by Phillis Wheatley Soon as the sun forsook the eastern main The pealing th…

I keep forgetting that the boards restarted at the end of last year! I was wondering how many of my poems were on this site now and there weren't a whole lot (of the ones I had previously posted), so I will have to catch up! So Amazed Basking in Your presence at the start of the day, I meditate in wonder and begin to pray.

Pledge of Honor ================= God made Man in His own image, and assigned him with two great mandates. "Love Me with all your soul and heart, and love your neighbor as yourself." See this world filled with injustice! With sin and violence Satan reigns, Mothers crying for their dead children: Amidst the earth, filled with tyranny. Rulers with no hearts nor conscience, Cloaking their filth with earthly wealth. Idols glaring everywhere - Upon the earth where evil reigns. Who will stand in this dark age? And show forth this dead world God's mandate? Men of honor, and integrity, Heart of strength and godly love. Abiding and preaching the gospel of Chris…

I delight in Christ Jesus, my only Saviour, Him who shed His pure blood for me on the Cross: I am in His merciful eyes full of favour: Though my soul deserve nothing but to be lost. I shall praise my beloved King: Who made void death

Contrast Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced, nor cried aloud, Under the bludgeoning of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the horror of the shade; And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishment the scroll, I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul. "Invictus" by Wm. E. Henley Out of the light that dazzles me, Bright as the sun from pole to pole, …

Oh my precious T.J., oh how I miss you so, every since you have been missing, my mind, has never known where to go, ..... My thoughts and prayers are with you, through out my living years, but until you are found, my life will be full of tears..... Oh, how I miss you,and want to hold you tight, this world of the not knowing, living life without you, just doesn't seem right. .... Oh, how I love this little one, with all my heart and soul, I miss him every day and night, and the years have taken their toll. .... My little T.J., where ever will I find you, this question I have to ask everyday, and it always starts with the fresh morning de…

I wrote this a couple years ago when facing a few scriptural battles with some family members. The Judgment Seat Well God here I am, my life’s over you see, It was living hell, but it mastered not me. I’ve been through a lot on the world it is true. So open the gates and I’ll just pass on through. The trials that you faced were a test from above, To see if you’d taste of the Saviors sweet love. But anger you chose instead of salvation And now you are sent to eternal damnation. Greetings redeemer, I sure hope I am saved, All the commandments I am sure I obeyed. One special request if you would be so kind Don’t let it be said I left my wealth behind. Dear rich …

Thanks for helping me with this Jerry. My Saviour Living In Me I stood before the Judge, now it was my turn To give account to Him, how my heart did churn. I had no words to plead in my own defense. Condemned, I knelt, for the reading of my offense. Yet, one Man stood up, dressed in clothes so white, My Advocate, Jesus, had made all things right. Jesus was born to die on Calvary, Born to die, for you and for me. Born to die, but not in vain; Though I was condemned, He bore my shame. He died for me on Calvary, To pay my sins and set me free. What a friend! He paid it all! Not a mite was ever too small.…

I've Found The Pearl Of Greatest Price (Lyrics: John Mason) I?ve found the Pearl of greatest price, My heart doth sing for joy; And sing I must, for Christ is mine! Christ shall my song employ. Christ is my Prophet, Priest, and King; My Prophet full of light, My great High Priest before the throne, My King of heav?nly might. For He indeed is Lord of lords, And He the King of kings; He is the Sun of Righteousness, With healing in His wings. Christ is my Peace; He died for me, For me He shed His blood; And as my wondrous Sacrifice, Offered Himself to God. Christ Jesus is my All in all, My Comfort and my Love, My Life below, and He shall be My Joy …

I Was There I was there when this little baby girl was born. I saw that her mommy and daddy didn't really want her because they wanted a boy. The little girl was ever so lonesome knowing somehow that she didn't make her parents happy. She sat on the meat-market steps and watched the cars go by on the highway. She tossed pebbles and played catch alone with a little rubber football. As I watched, I saw an elderly gentleman come along. There were few words exchanged between the little girl and man, but somehow a lot was said as the man took the time to play catch with the little girl. She was like a shy little fawn, quiet, and never wanting to cause trouble for any…

Testing Are you passing through a testing? Is your pillow wet with tears? Do you wonder what the reason, Why it seems God never hears? Why it is you have no answer To your oft-repeated plea, Why the heaven still is leaden As you wait on bended knee? Do you wonder as you suffer, Whether God does understand? And if so, why He ignores you, And fails to hold you in His hand? Do black doubts creep in, assail you, Fears without, and fears within, Till your brave heart almost falters And gives way to deadly sin? All God's testing have a purpose- Some day you will see the light. All He asks is that you trust Him, Walk by faith and not by …

Cherith Thy camp is pitched by Cherith stream, The hamlet of thy love, thy means, And running low the crystal drains away, Sinks into the burning sand, the hardened clay. From its waning freshness thy spirit found its share, And foolish fear has told thee thy Jesus doesn’t care. That little shall drain till nothing left But turbid leagues of hearts bereft. Greater eyes have seen the stream has dried, The fainting spirits died. And comes the voice of One beholding, Guiding words, His new unfoldings. Get thee hence, my will is thy supply. Let Cherith’s blessings die, If on…

Hope this can be a blessing to someone. Our Little One Didn't know if you were a boy or girl. Would your hair be straight, or would it curl? Would you be dark like your Daddy, or would you be fair skinned like me? Would you love to run and play outside, or be a homebody by Momma's side? Would your mind in the clouds often wander, or would engineering feats, be what you ponder? The Lord never let us know these things, but he knew the joy you'd bring. Even carrying you for such a short time, making me yearn for a new Little One in His time. Your time with us was, oh so brief. Your loss, brought us so much grief. Yet through it all, I…

I had on new clothes, New sneakers on my feet. I was there for class on time, Went to the back and took my seat. Yeah, I'm moving up, I'm already grown. Soon I'll be graduating, And out on my own. I talked to some of my friends, We were all having fun. Said some things I shouldn't have said. Did stuff I shouldn't have done. I knew I was different. I felt God touch my heart, I knew I should set a standard, But then I'd be set apart. Walking to the bus, I was not looking for strength. I heard the car tires screeching, But now it's too late. I'm standing in this room, And I can see the heavenly gate. Oh no! I never prayed. I thought I h…

Stop to think On the street people are passing by, you see them and maybe say 'hi' Friends stop to talk with you, ask how you are and what you do. You chat a bit and then go on. You're busy, don't want to stay for long. But wait before you take your next step! Think, do they know about their debt? Are they an their way to hell, for ever lost? Did you tell them that Jesus died at the cross? Jesus can wash them white as snow and in his hands they're save to grow. Are you the light spreading this precious news? You are the tool God wants to use!!! I wrote this poem after hearing the song: People need the Lord. It's not perfect but it is my best for Gods gl…

SCARS IN LIFE Some years ago on a hot summer day in south Florida a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore. His mother in the house was looking out the window saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as she could. Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to…

I changed 2 lines to make it more Biblical, according to Song Of Solomon 2:17 and 4:6. I was meditating on Psalm 84:3 tonight while I was praying for Angela's family. I hope this is a comfort in some way. The Sparrow Has Flown Home (Dedicated to Carol Trenholm) She's just a little sparrow, A weakened vessel made of clay; Yearning for the day break, When the shadows will flee away. Looking for the Sun of Righteousness To arise with healing in His wings. As the Saviour waits with open arms, This little sparrow begins to sing. Her Heavenly Father numbers each little hair; Not one of them can come to lasting harm. Not a sp…

"Sing My Song for Me" - "He Leadeth Me"... Psalm 23 "The Lord is my shepherd: I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters." (23:1&2) On the northwest corner of Broad and Arch Streets in Philadelphia stands an office building of the United Gas Improvement Company. On the front of this building is a bronze tablet paying tribute to a great hymn and its author, Joseph Gilmore. In 1862, Mr. Gilmore was a guest speaker for a couple of Sundays and Wednesday evening prayer service at the First Baptist Church of Philadelphia. At the Wednesday service, March 26, he used Psalm 23 as a text, dwelling mostly on the…

From Genesis To Revelation From Genesis to Revelation Lies hid one vast rich treasury, And the wealth of its Godly wisdom Is revealed in Jesus Christ, its key. There is milk for spiritual children, For the mature, there is bread and meat; And all who will taste of its promises Will find pure honey - wonderfully sweet. For the soldier, there is armour, For the farmer, seed to sow, For the pilgrim, there's a compass, And a map, showing where to go. But the richest of all its treasures, Lies in finding the Pearl of Great Price; For the joy of life's truest blessings Are found in the Lord Jesus Christ. January 20th, 2002. Jerry (Ger…

The Mirror I took a nice not so long look in the mirror today. I want to tell you what I saw: a little girl of about 13 years old sitting in a corner, all alone, for no one else to see. I looked around and there was no one there. I wanted so badly to console this little girl with a tear stained face. I asked why it was that she was crying. I thought I saw a glimmer of hope in this little girls face, but then she looked away. She whispered,

A Glimpse of Perfection This precious little daughter That the Lord has given you, Will doubtless bring you more joy, As she smiles back up at you. How gracious a Heavenly Father, As on you such love He has shown. Entrusting you with another child, For you to raise up as your own. Each time you look upon her, Gives reason to remember; She is a special reward From your Heavenly Father. And as He is filling your quiver, With this great token of His love Take more time aside to remember, All His past blessings from above. Looking on God's perfection; Remember, He makes all things new; Providing you a sweet glimpse, Of the work He's doing in you.…

This was originally written in 2008 when my youngest son was deployed to the Middle East. His family stayed with us for the 18 months that he was gone. I just found it in my binder and re-wrote it, and so I hope it is a blessing to others. Springtime Today is a beautiful day. The sky is blue and there is nary a cloud in sight. I'm sure the sun will shine a nearly perfect temperature on us again. I do love springtime! I love how bright green the new grasses are, and I love to daily watch as new leaves first bud on the trees, and then as the days go by they begin to unfold. Pretty soon they are clapping their hands, and waving to us in the breeze. My bright red…

Hope for the Day My heart fills with sadness with grim news I hear. Threat of war, all the chaos, fill me with fear. My own life has its share of crises and pain, Still I cling tight to the Lord, praying agai. And when I look up at the starry night sky My heart fills with wonder at the Lord, and I Know there are things evil cannot touch And I know that God loves us all so much! "Have hope," He says to me, as I gaze up at the moon. "Remember, it will be a brand new day soon. "So keep up your faith, always keep your heart right. "And I'll guide you through the darkest of night."

Please don't pass this poem on until I get some feedback. I am not 100% satisfied with it yet. I wanted to know if it was clear enough. It was one of those ones where I had an idea but it was hard to iron out. I was trying to present what some of the people alive at the time of Jesus would have thought about the Messiah coming in their lifetime, and fulfilling His plan of redemption. Feedback is definitely appreciated! O Save Us Now Before God made the world, redemption was planned; In the fullness of time, God became a man. From Heaven, God
