For the brethren - time is running out. =================================================== Beloved, why are you crying in sorrow, full of grief? Is it for the country we dwell in? Wipe your tears, my dear brethren, For soon the Lord - our Captain, will bring us up in victory! This country ain't of our own Just several decades of passin' away: And then we're going to our True Home! So hold strong, my dear brethren - Never follow the ways of the heathen - Wait for Christ to catch us all away! Watchmen, why aren't you awake and hiding your candle of light? Is it all for your evil lusts sake? Arm yourselves, fellow soldiers, Though the war's gonna be …

Blazing A Trail God’s Way Way back in olden times, in the pioneer days, “Go West, Young man,” was an often heard phrase. Go make your own mark, go blaze your own trail - In the eyes of the world you will never fail. But the way to make a difference in the eyes of the Lord Is to base your whole life upon the truths found in God’s Word. Jesus is the Author of your faith - He’s already blazed the way; Follow closely in His footsteps, cling to Him every day. “I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” you’ll never walk alone; He has a plan and a purpose that you can call your very own; He will provide all things that will need to serve Him fai…

I have been sharing some of my poems this last year during the Sunday services. Here is one of mine that is worth thinking about. What is important to you? What do you boast about? Boasting In The Lord So many will boast of their status and wealth – For too many that is all that’s worth living; I’d rather boast in my spiritual health – I’ll rejoice that I am saved and forgiven! So many will boast in who and what they know – Their connections are the things they do treasure; I would rather boast in the Lord Jesus Christ – His Word is my only sure guide and measure! So many will boast in the things they have made – As if this life was the en…

I thought this was a nice story. Too bad it doesn't have any Christian content. But I thought it was worth sharing anyway. Bobby's Gift Bobby was getting cold sitting out in his back yard in the snow. Bobby didn't wear boots; he didn't like them and anyway he didn't own any. The thin sneakers he wore had a few holes in them and they did a poor job of keeping out the cold. Bobby had been in his backyard for about an hour already. And, try as he might, he could not come up with an idea for his mother's Christmas gift. He shook his head as he thought, "This is useless, even if I do come up with an idea, I don't have any money to spend." Eve…

I have debated on whether to share one of my passions with the readers here in the forum. I have written this introduction a couple of times and then deleted it and even now not sure I will post it. My belief that Historical Baptists are the final line of defense in the preservation of historical Christianity is not born of love for Baptist preachers and Baptist institutions, my passion comes from being a student of Baptist History. I am not claiming (now would I ever do so) to be an expert on our Baptist history but I have read and studied it much and am convinced that the distinctives we hold as Historic Baptists are the same distinctives that Christ tau…

Bubbles by Alan As one goes through life, troubles, like bubbles, arise and flow, Turmoil and woe, Friend and Foe Alike flow like bubbles, Bubbles, like troubles, are the woe on man, The curse of sin, Bubbles, like time, wax and wan, rise and fall Though big and complex, like the throes of life, meet man alike Bubble like troubles, are strong and weak to all they meet A wind shall carry, all alike, from start to finish. Though alike in form, the end is not norm, for all bubbles. To prove t…

BUS CHILDREN Praise the Lord for the bus children! And give them love and care. They need to see Jesus within, But most of all your prayers. Their homes aren't centered around Christ, Same for their public schools. Church is where they find Jesus Christ, But the rest the world rules. Their parents know not of our hope, Or the peace in our hearts, Some just don't care, others use dope, Their life God has no part. So in US they must see Jesus, For He died for them too. Worldly homes keep them on the bus, Their parents need prayer too. So pray for worldly bus children, And give them love and care. They need to see Jesus within, But most of all y…

But After This the Judgment (Fiction--Based on Heb. 9:27) “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Here am I in this lonely grave, tormented by flames of fire, (Lk. 16:24). Darkness surrounds me as a cloud (Mt. 25:30), and the agony of my sin is upon me. “What will happen now” I wonder, “Is this torment my eternal destiny”? Oh, I remember those fanatics in the factory witnessing to me of the love of Jesus, perhaps I should have listened! It just seemed so foolish at the time though. I hope this is only a temporary suffering, until some sort of debt is paid, I can hardly bear the torment. I guess I should have taken time to…

He could have not made a Satan, He could have saved His Son; He could have made the Law, but no Grace, He could have never paid the price. He could have forced our love, He could have turned His back from above; He could have all of Heaven kept, He could have ignored us, in our debt. He could have not created Time, He could have never let His Glory shine; He could have not given us a sea to shining sea, He could have let us die eternally. He could have never given us a soul, He could have not let us have free will- But for His love. I could have never repented of my sin, I could have never believed in Him; I could have never experienced joy, I could ha…

But We See Jesus "I don't look back, God knows the fruitless efforts, The wasted hours, the sinning, the regrets, I leave them all with Him who blots the record, And mercifully forgives, and then forgets. I don't look forward, God sees all the future, The road that, short or long, will lead me home, And He will face with me its every trial, And bear for me the burdens that may come. But I look up - into the face of Jesus, For there my heart can rest, my fears are stilled, And there is joy, and love, and light for darkness, And perfect peace, and every hope fulfilled." ~Annie Johnson Flint~

Call Back If you have gone a little way ahead of me, call back; 'Twill cheer my heart and help my feet along the stony track; And if, perchance, Faith's light is dim, because the oil is low, Your call will guide my lagging course as wearily I go. Call back, and tell me that He went with you into the storm; Call back, and say He kept you when the forest's roots were torn; That when the heavens thundered and the earthquake shook the hill, He bore you up and held you where the very air was still. O friend, call back and tell me, for I cannot see your face; They say it glows with triumph, and your feet bound in the race; But there are mists bet…

Calling on His Name By: Sadie Katharine Vs. 1 A little house and a few pennies is all she had to own, Just trying to make it day by day. The wealth of this world, she never known, Oh but she knew how to pray. Chorus I don?t have silver, and I don?t have gold, I don?t have all the riches or fame. I don?t have much money, oh but how I have Jesus and His hand to hold I can always call on His name! Verse 2 Trusting Jesus with all that she had, Giving her last bit of pennies away He feels her with contentment and makes her heart glad His love is there each day. Chorus I don?t have silver, and I don?t have gold, I don?t have all the riches or fame. …

What sort of wild dream Would ever be as good as that Which heavens plan treated me on the Lord's day last I could never have in my imagination Come to such a splendid realization At the sight of you sitting there In grass greener than I have seen Over a bridge out of some fairy tale I knew in meeting you I must not fail For dreams like that are rare indeed And perhaps awakened some unknown need Shall I resort there once again? My heart says 'yes', I know not when To see there again among the maples A girl whose name is Charity Staples My thoughts of you there are day by day Of that place where birds & rabbits play And when I venture there ag…

Cherith Thy camp is pitched by Cherith stream, The hamlet of thy love, thy means, And running low the crystal drains away, Sinks into the burning sand, the hardened clay. From its waning freshness thy spirit found its share, And foolish fear has told thee thy Jesus doesn’t care. That little shall drain till nothing left But turbid leagues of hearts bereft. Greater eyes have seen the stream has dried, The fainting spirits died. And comes the voice of One beholding, Guiding words, His new unfoldings. Get thee hence, my will is thy supply. Let Cherith’s blessings die, If on…

Choosing To Guard My Heart And Mind I made a covenant with my eyes, Upon virtuous things my mind is stayed; When temptation comes a-calling, The decision has already been made. Like prisoners of war, I’ve taken captive The thoughts that roam this land; When an invading army comes to battle, I know, I’ve already made my stand. Though I am walking in the flesh, I choose not to war that way; Your Word is hidden in my heart, Before the enemy comes to stay. I give all my cares to my Captain, And He gives me His peace within; Guarding my heart in this warfare - In Jesus, the victory I will win. I will put on Your whole armour - …

I found an old poem that I never posted anywhere. Looks like I edited it slightly after I became KJV-only, and I just tweaked a few words right now to make it flow a little better (and not just say "Him"). Chosen In Christ Jesus We deserved wrath, but God showed mercy; We deserved judgement, but He gave grace; Our sins excluded us from His presence - Now reconciled, we may see God’s face. We dwelt in the kingdom of darkness, Enslaved by the chains of our sins; We were dead in our vile trespasses, Until the Lord Jesus Christ entered in. Controlled by the prince of this world, Marred by the depravity of our…
