True Meaning of Christmas Why all the fuss at Christmas The crowds running everywhere With colored lights and Christmas trees And not a moment to stop and share A bearded fellow in a bright red suit Children lined up to his door Everyone says this is Christmas Even for the hungry and poor But where is the Christ this Christmas Who was born this very day? Don

I Was There I was there when this little baby girl was born. I saw that her mommy and daddy didn't really want her because they wanted a boy. The little girl was ever so lonesome knowing somehow that she didn't make her parents happy. She sat on the meat-market steps and watched the cars go by on the highway. She tossed pebbles and played catch alone with a little rubber football. As I watched, I saw an elderly gentleman come along. There were few words exchanged between the little girl and man, but somehow a lot was said as the man took the time to play catch with the little girl. She was like a shy little fawn, quiet, and never wanting to cause trouble for any…

Tonight folds in on its own gentle self like a rich, dark tapestry muting life's cacophony offering respite to the child of the soil and gently placing the day's earthly toil on tomorrow's waiting shelf SDN

I saw this poem in the March 10, 2017, Vol. LXXXIII, No. 5, issue of 'The Sword of the Lord.' The Poem did not list any credits, or an author, and may be found on page 3, under, 'For Preachers.' My Bible Though the cover is worn And the pages are torn And though places bear traces of tears, Yet more precious than gold Is the Book, worn and old, That can shatter and scatter my fears. When I prayerfully look In the precious old Book, As my eyes scan the pages I see Many tokens of love From the Father above …

Striving Poet (sonnet poem)

Striving Poet My one Foot steeped on passing sea, while other sunk on Land; This focus was divided by decisions where I stand; The Right was on a massive run, but Other might have fled-- Was tied and wounded weary in my vacant dungeon bed. My mind was on the battle field, while heart was out to play; This weary mind--my feelings mixed--and made me late delay; The Spirit always willing, but, the flesh severely weak-- Was lying ill but busy still, without--within the Deck. My two of me do strive along, this narrow road I've trod; This way I've walked in focal view was on a pensive mode; The life is one a Dew in flow'r, but we can spend the best;-- Was Pilgrim …

On Tour (On the Roman’s Road) The tour guide said, “Ladies and Gentlemen, on your left as we enter the Roman’s Road, please notice the shabby run-down shack just behind those trees. At one time it was the most influential, prominent building in Christendom; it was, and still is, the first stop on the Romans Road. It enjoyed great blessings, and rose to great heights, while the multitudes stopped by often, but it soon became unpopular, overrun by pride: It was called ‘the beginning’. Notice the crossroads here, the sign post reads 310 Depravity Avenue. There are none righteous here, we see mayhem and violence everywhere. Lock your doors, as it is not safe to even …

Praise Him, the Mighty God. Praise Him, the Mighty God. (A song of Praise: a Prayer of Thanks) Lord, we are not worthy to house thy Spirit; We cannot approach unto thy love and grace, And these tainted lips are not worthy to speak thy name; But you have seen fit to grant us such joy, And for this we must thank thee, Oh Lord. Yeah, we are truly thankful for blessings bestowed; Such grace is undeserved; Oh but the love of a Mighty God, Is freely given in spite of flesh. And in the privilege of prayer. Oh Lord, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him?” “And the son of man, that thou visitest him?” How can such grace be given, To such unworthy cre…

An article I wrote awhile back... A CD player and radio in the car, a television in the living room and two or more computers place strategically throughout the house. A DVD player, a VCR and perhaps an Xbox or Wii may also be present just to round things out. If it is a Christian, conservative home, the music will be godly and classical, the movies are clean, wholesome and family oriented and the computer will be used for business, e-mail, Facebook and research for homeschool. The radio, of course, will be tuned only to conservative news, talk radio and Rush Linbaugh, Dave Ramsey, et al. There will be lots of books, tapes, DVD’s and CD’s full of preaching, Bi…

The other day I was chatting with a classmate of mine at Facebook, who is a pastor. I told him something the Lord had taught me. Words that sound "safe" are not. I told him that Children have no way of knowing that dufus, knucklehead, dingbat or meat head among others can get a child into trouble. If the child calls his or her friend's mom, sister, brother, grandmother etc one of these words. This would get the child into trouble and cause him or her to lose a good friend He indicated to me that he thought that was amusing Dufus, meathead and Knucklehead are synonyms for the word fool. Meathead is defined as someone who is dull or Stupid. Knuclehead is defi…

Would anyone be interested in reading mine and Kate Plourde's Numbers In The Bible Series from 2007? I am sure I probably posted at least some of those studies back in the day, but I have found usually anything that old on these boards are either archived or the threads are locked (and often have only some of the content readable and with weird quirky formatting from the old html). The series ended up going for 60 days, a few of the studies are pretty long. I will post the intros to the studies we had on our sites. It will be hard to control myself, but I can post one a day (or one per weekday) until the series is done. That would be two months of devotionals, if anyone i…

Two worldviews contrasted - that of humanism/atheism (ie. the world's vain philosophies) versus that of true Christianity (ie. of faith). Which view is yours? Which one reflects the condition of your heart? Invictus Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, …

There comes a time in life when memories become very precious. We tend to cling to them, and not let them go; we walk again a life now past, and enjoy the excitement of life all over again. Memories; sometimes it seems as if that’s all we have left that is worthwhile, and yet they are no longer reality. Many of them are lost in the OBlivion of time gone by, vague memories, as accurate as we wish them to be, and still exhilarating to our hearts with precious thoughts to occupy our days. They are often little appreciated, at the first thought of them, but stored away for future reference in our old age. With memories, we relive the excitement of youth; we brave the sto…

Onesimus We find, in the Book of Philemon, the redemption and the restoration of Onesimus, but there is another valuable lesson for us here too. There is a certain “work” that salvation produces which is a work of righteousness. In this Book, we see that Onesimus, after he was saved, became concerned about restoring that which he had apparently stolen. At great risk some have felt compelled to make right a certain thing in their life, even though it took place while they were ignorant and in sin. Some, though no real risk was involved, could not afford to “make things right” and the sacrifice they made to do so became a great burden on them, but they did it anyway…

I must confess, ashamedly, that I throw a good party. Particularly pity-parties where I am both the guest and hostess. As a smart hostess, I try to make sure that all my needs are met to have the perfect time in keeping up with the theme. As a merchandiser/sales representative for a major toy company, my territory covers a large area of the county. Today, I only needed to go to two stores to check on product levels and get a breakdown on how the sales went after the Christmas Season. I was in a sour mood, did not want to work right after the holidays.I was whining internally, feeling sorry for myself because of a tender ankle. Pretending that I still had youth on m…

WHO IS THE TEACHER?
by Guest Guest- 6 replies

To hear the trueth, don't ask a preacher, to hear the trueth Just read the words of Jesus, my teacher. Jesus said the whole law was love GOD first and love others as you love your self. Most preachers are rich and fat and love there selves more than CHRIST himself. They pass the offering plate around its a sin if you let it hit the ground. Then they take the money home and role in it till satan fills there gready souls. Then they buy treasures for themselves and tell you its for the GLORY of GOD. Those Preachers call them selves BAPTISTS, CATHOLICS, and MORMONS. I call them SATANIST who love to yell LORD LORD. Mod note: edited for spam

I am not a poet, but the Lord put this on my heart.... MY LORD IS GOOD, AND SWEET, AND GRACIOUS AND DAILY TO ME SO KIND, NO MATTER HOW OFTEN I FAIL HIM, NO MATTER HOW SPIRITUALLY BLIND. HE TAKES MY HAND AND LEADS ME, AND REMINDS ME OFTEN "YOU'RE MINE". THOUGH TIMES SEEM SO TROUBLED IN THIS WICKED SIN SICK PLACE, I KNOW, I TRUST, I AWAIT THAT CALL TO LOOK UPON THE LAMB'S FACE!

Luke 22:52-53 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. The Dark Tomb The Light of the world flickered and dimmed; The Lord of Glory was crucified. Darkness veiled the whole world from Him As blood poured from His wounds and side. His loved ones gathered around His cross, Heard, "It is finished," as Jesus cried - Their souls overwhelmed by grief and loss, Watched as He gave up His life and died. They laid …

In life we walk down a path and that path is called life we live it for the one who created us. We should look for him in life, we should seek after him. When we listen for him we will hear him. Sometimes when we get so busy we forget to listen with hectic lives and others telling us how we should live. We must always remember God knows best and we should be listening to the still small voice. The devil tries anything to make us be from the voice of our creator. You must not listen to the roaring lion who wants to take away what God has made his a unity in Christ A marriage. You need God in that but if he isn't things will be terrible and that roaring line will get in …

This is the text to a song I'm writing. I thought I would post it here and get comments before I get too far in writing the music. Feel free to criticize...I am the first to admit I'm not very good at writing lyrics. You did it all for me Two thousand years ago, a man walked this earth He came with no fanfare, in a stable his mother gave birth He came with one purpose, he came to die for me And because of what Jesus did, I now can live set free [Chorus] Lord, you were mocked by the crowd; you were falsely accused you were crowned with sharp thorns; you were beaten and bruised you were sentenced to die; you were hung on a tree You shed your blood, and you d…
