Numbers In The Bible Series 47 - God's Perfect Grace Day 47 - God's Perfect Grace Niagara Falls is a wondrous work to behold for certain! There is nothing that speaks of God's power and might than to rest our eyes on a waterfall of this nature! It causes me to meditate on God's mercy and grace on my own life. His power and might are most certainly seen when I look upon this wretched sinner who has been saved from eternal punishment! There is nothing I have done or could ever do that would allow me even a glimpse of heaven. However, Christ loves me so much, He took my punishment! That is mercy and grace at its best - a more perfect gift could not be given …

Friends, This was written specifically for nonbelievers. Most Christian material is ignored once (nonbelievers) sense that it speaks of God in any real form (the Bible). Most people (especially young adults) are programed to not really think beyond what is written. They want clarity. They want immediate answers. They want everything now, or they'll look elsewhere for what they THINK OR FEEL they need. In the meantime, that hole - right THERE isn't filled, 'cause the only thing that can fill it is what is of God. What I tried to do here is leave pretty much everything up to speculation if read through fast, and once. :D IMPOSSIBLE if you aren't a Christian. Response…

Numbers In The Bible Series 48 - Precious And Growing Faith Day 48 - Precious And Growing Faith 2 Peter 1:1-2 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, Seven times in the books of first and second Peter we come across this word precious. Webster's 1828 Dictionary defines it as: "1. Of great price; costly; as a precious stone. 2. Of great value or worth; very valuable. 3. Highly valued; much esteemed." Something precious is worth mo…

Numbers In The Bible Series 49 - He Is Their Help Day 49 - He Is Their Help As a bridge helps us to cross troubled or difficult waters, our Heavenly Father provides us with the same kind of help. The Word is filled with verses about our God helping us in time of need. As I meditated on this picture [not included with this study] today, I noticed several things about it: 1. The waters are not high, but yet a bridge was needed. So the picture is deceiving - if there is a need for a bridge, then something we do not see hinders the traveller while crossing. This stream may swell due to rains and the waters rise and make travelling across dangerous. …

ON THE ALTAR Today at the altar I will stand, For God has a different plan. Not for two to be one, but Gods will to be done. There I humbly do bow, for this I must do now. To make this sacrafice for thee, At the altar I do plea. For there's no other way, Then to trust and obey. On my face I will cry, even though I may not know why. I must place you on the altar today! Philippians 1:3-6 http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/i/s/isyoural.htm

The Bus Route I see little Billy with dirt on his face; Running to and fro, flitting from place to place; He thinks he’s happy as he runs and plays, But soon he will see the devils dark days. I see baby Anna, all wrapped up sweet; A bottle in her mouth, and booties on her feet; She thinks she’s safe in loving arms, But has not yet known the devils charms. Then there’s Sammy, rebellious and stern, He doesn’t know that someday he’ll burn; He enjoys the stubbornness of sin, Not realizing the shape he’s in. Little faces with smiles great, Show the innocence of their fate; Romping around so happy and free, Ignorant of Jesus and Calvary’s tree. Then …

Guidance From God's Hand By: Sadie Katharine _______ Verse 1 So many times I want to question why? There are so many things I can?t understand. But, As time passes by, I have learned to leave it in God?s hand. Chorus The hand of God is all I need, The grace that gets me through each day. The life that was shed, so I can be free, The hand that guides me in every way. The strength that He gives to me, He is there when I am need a friend. When you are discouraged, there will always be, Guidance from God?s hand. Verse 2 When trials come that you face, It seems like all you have done is tried. But After This the Judgment (Based on Heb. 9:27) Here am I in this lonely grave, tormented by flames of fire, (Lk. 16:24). Darkness surrounds me as a cloud (Mt. 25:30), and the agony of my sin is upon me.

I need a bigger field, God. Things are crowding and nothing resembles what I planted. It's the adaptations needed which cause a conflict between roots and sky which leave me worried that I am not qualified to even gaze - waiting for blossoms to mature. I am overwhelmed. Strange, how when I ask of such things You grant just that. I trust in planting, stretch Spiritual Muscle, then rest too soon, expecting seasons of sunshine, all rains a warm mist, and insects interested in something else far away. My back aches from pulling. I bend from the waist, not wanting to get too dirty, too close to the soil. Then why this thought?~

Numbers In The Bible Series 50 - Happy Is The Man Day 50 - Happy Is The Man The man whose life is centered on God is a happy man, according to His Word. Only three times can you find the phrase "happy is the man" as it relates to God. Three symbolizes the Godhead - completeness - the Trinity. What a blessing to know that our happiness is complete in the Three-in-One! I began to pick apart the three verses which describe man's happiness! How exciting to see that the Trinity is depicted in these three verses!! Oh joy! (1) The Father: Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: (Job 5:17)…

Numbers In The Bible Series 51 - Forgiven Day 51 - Forgiven I was prompted to do a search for the word forgiven yesterday, and was blessed by the results. There are seven main passages I came across in the New Testament that deal with being forgiven - the first two showing Jesus offering forgiveness to repentant sinners who trust Him by faith, and the remaining five are wonderful promises of assurance. (There are more passages in the NT with this term, but they dealt with either not being forgiven, warnings about the need for forgiveness, or requirements for it.) 1) Matthew 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed:…

Numbers In The Bible Series 52 - Fear And Wisdom Day 52 - Fear And Wisdom When I look upon God's creation, it never ceases to amaze me! The wonder of God's Hand upon all that man can behold is enough to cause us to believe! The Bible says that we are without excuse - God has provided His creation to move us, if you will, into searching for the Creator. Romans 1:18-20 says, "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (18) Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. (19) For the invisible things of him from the creat…

I wrote this poem to encourage a believer in my church (and his family) who is currently facing the battle with cancer and radiation treatments. I wanted to remind him where he came from (spiritually), as well as where his victory comes today - without getting specific on the healing of his cancer, as I do not presume to know God's will - but wanted to emphasize the strength that comes from trusting in the Lord and the willingness to fight the battles He gives us. Facing Your Goliath You followed the Lord out of Egypt, Buried your old master in the Red Sea, Wandered around in the wilderness, Knowing your Redeemer has made you free. Crossed over the flo…

Wait on the LORD My soul, wait only on the LORD, Expecting nothing save from Him. Rest all on His unfailing Word Nor ever let thy faith grow dim. Thine every need shall be supplied, Thy heart's desires be freely given, And no good thing shall be denied The soul in harmony with heaven. All human strength but disappoints, Its wrecks along life's path are strewed; But they who wait as GOD appoints Shall daily find their strength renewed. On eagles' wings of faith they rise And far above earth's tumult sail, They run, unwearied, toward the prize, They walk, and neither faint nor fail. However, hope!, as seems thy case, Go spread it out before th…

If a woman's heart be searched deep, By surprise a man may be caught All the desires she ever veils Would have never been in his thoughts.. The desire to be pure and grand For her Creator be of use: That no worldly treat can allure Her soul's enchained sight at the Cross. The desire to live free but chaste; To know when to contend and cry And learn to be brave yet fragile On herself and others rely. The desire to be of wisdom- A woman of a rewarding life.. Then to cease living for her own To be a mother and a wife. The desire to love and be loved Until beauty fades and life ends: One man's sweet kisses to taste, By strong arms be gently held.. The…

Sometime I read a paragraph or a poem that really speaks to me. The following poem expresses my feelings. My wife and I spent varying lengths of time, from 90 days to 10 months, each year from 2005 to 2013 in Prague. We worked as volunteers at the International Baptist Theological Seminary. Prague is a wonderful city. It was not damaged in World War II and is the way Europe used to be before that war. The author, Petr Ginz, died in the Terezin Concentration camp. Memories of Prague How long since I last saw The sun sink low behind Petrin hill? With tearful eyes I gazed at you, Prague, Enveloped in your evening shadows. How long since …

In 2004 I was blessed by being asked to help at the funeral service of a very good friend. Raymonds son, Floyd asked me to read this poem. For several years he had helped with Vacation Bible School at Immanuel Baptist Church at Nashville, Arkansas, having missed the last one only because of his health. He was faithful, trying his best to make a good example for all of those little fellows who would attend Vacation Bible School, knowing that his impression could make a large difference in each childs life and their future. All of us could take heed from the example Raymond set amongst all of the children, as well as all the adults who passed thru his life.…

Numbers In The Bible Series 54 - Jesus' I Am Statements - Part Three Day 54 - Jesus' I Am Statements - Part Three Brother Jerry asked me to search out the Book of John and the "I am" statements that Jesus made. What a delight to find eight such statements! Eight symbolizes a new beginning and we find this new beginning through Jesus Christ and His requirement that we be born again (John 3:3) - our new beginning! What joy the Word brings us when we take the time to search it out. Let's look at the verses that make up the eight "I am's": Bread of Life: And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and h…

Mother She prepares a feast From flour and yeast, And this, and that, and the other; She loves to love; She lives to give, There is no one quite like my mother. When tears abound, And fear’s surround, And trouble from sister or brother; She is always there To clear the air, She stands in the place called “mother”. She makes peace Among the least, And reconciles one with another; None can replace Her wonderful grace, No, there is no one like my mother. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, MOM’S (None of us would be here without mothers!)

Numbers In The Bible Series 55 - Behold: A Fivefold Picture - Part Two Day 55 - Behold: A Fivefold Picture - Part Two I want to build upon something that was presented in Part One of this study. It is interesting to note how the cherubim in the Old Testament are a type of Christ. They each have four faces, and each face represents one Gospel: A) Matthew, the Lion, presents Jesus as the King, dealing with the Kingdom of God and with His authority. This Gospel is written primarily for the Jews and deals more with that nation and focusses more on the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy than the other Gospels. It is in this Gospel that we find mor…

Just looking through some of my saved poems and stories. Thought this might encourage others. This is one of the lovely poems that was in the memorial. It was written by Pastor Chittys grown son. He was raised in church with the family, and works at the church. Written the day after the accident. I PREPARED A PLACE FOR TIM..... (Dedicated to Timothy Lee Jim) I got mad at God the other day and asked, "How could You do this to a father and mother?" He gently whispered with a kind reply, "I'm a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother." As I walked along, I asked again, "How could You take one so young and free?" He looked at me…

Numbers In The Bible Series 56 - Be Ye Holy Day 56 - Be Ye Holy A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. (Psalm 68:5) Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. (Psalm 150:1) Is there anything as magnificent in God's creation than mountains? When I behold pictures such as these, I stand in awe of the Creator! I am reminded of His might, His love, and His holiness. As I meditated on this today, I was deeply impressed about how God wants us to be holy like Him. I searched the Scriptures for the phrase, be ye holy, and discovered it appears three times! Praise His Hol…
