Most of you are not aware of this, but I have recently had a flare-up of a health issue I've had for several years. I was unable to sleep one night, and I started writing these words, which I plan to write music for eventually. Lord, I Don't Understand by Jim Herman Lord, as I've traveled down the path you've laid for me I've passed through many trials, and they've sent me to my knees But Lord, I've had some problems that I don't understand Yet I know that in your time, I will see your mighty hand Lord, I don't understand the trials I face Lord, I don't understand why it's hard to run this race But Lord, I remember that you're in control And Lord, I'll keep …

I wrote this when the doctors thought my Mom was going to go blind: When we travel down life's path And wonder why things happen, We should not ask, "Why me, Lord?" But give it into His hands. Trent

Micah 6 “Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” (v. 7) Micah asks a rhetorical question here, but the irony of it is that this is exactly what many people do! What I mean is, they sacrifice their children to the world because of their own desire to sin. All over the world man enjoys his sin, to excess many times, and the children are the ones’ that suffer in the long run. The decision we make on how we will live our life does affect others in a major way. It is as if the fruit of their bodies is exchanged for the sin of …

Were You There? Were you there over Two thousand years ago? Were you in His thoughts and did He know Of you when He conquered the evil foe? O yes! I was there For His love encompassed me I was in His heart as His love for all Nailed Him to that old rugged tree. Did you see His eyes piercing yours As He hung so painfully there? Did you count the countless sins He took upon Himself to bear? O yes! I was there For His love encompassed me I was in His heart as His love for all Nailed Him to that old rugged tree. Prostrate at the foot of the cross Did y…

Solicitude I was at the ranch office in Cooper Landing, Alaska one day when word came that Rebel, one of our more fractious horses, had bucked off the wrangler while up in the mountains and was running riderless back to the corral. We were working for a guiding outfit, taking tourists up into the mountains on horseback in Alaska, and the hapless wrangler who had just watched his mount disappear into the trees at a dead run was Ben, my oldest son. He was 17 at the time, it was his first year on the job, and as it was a large group of tourists, he had gone along to ride in the rear of the group as a backup and to help the regular guide. Rebel was a horse t…

The God of Gideon?s Men Who faced an innumerable host? Gideon and his mighty men. Who went forward with a heavenly host? Gideon and his mighty men. Who turned the multitudes to flight? Gideon and his mighty men. Who stood for good, and fought for right? Gideon and his mighty men. Who went down when God told him to go? Gideon and his mighty men. Who marched with neither sword nor bow? Gideon and his mighty men. Who chased the Midianites across the land? Gideon and his mighty men. Who delivered Israel with a mighty hand? Gideon and his mighty men. But who blessed them as they went? The God of Gideon?s mighty men. Who gave them strength when all was sp…

Tears Sadness is all around me. I bring my tears in front of thee. One is dripping after an other There are also tears with my mother. We're crying about our loved one. Lord send your comfort, comfort oh come. If he could only see the truth in you. He's on his way to hell, if he only knew. Please don't let him leave this earth, not until his second birth. Let him accept Jesus as his savior. Give him time only a bit more. I need you, I need you so much. Have mercy, only a bit of your touch. Strengthen me to trust in you Help me to do what you want me to. My grandfather was very sick and we all thought he wouldn't get well again. I wrote this poem and…

Trust In Me By: Sadie Katharine _______ This trial that you face, The tears flowing from your eyes. But through it all, God gives His grace. He knows your heart cries. He said, My child, the answer will be revealed, I know what is best. Your wounded heart I will heal, Just trust that you are blest. Trust that I will guide you along, I am with you each and every day. You are my child, and to me you belong, Trust that I will lead you the way. I said Lord I do not understand, And the way seems long, But through it all, I know have your guiding hand. You will never lead me wrong. He said, My child, the answer will be revealed, I know what is best. …

It's Only After Roses are so beautiful that we forget that thorns cause pain, We often forget that rainbows only come after the rain. Sometimes the sun is hidden when storm clouds are in view, It’s only after the rose is picked that it will bring great joy to you. It’s only after the storm subsides that peace comes to calm the seas, It’s only when the light turns on that the shadow suddenly flees. Sometimes we only learn, to appreciate the light, After walking through the darkness, in what seems like blackest night. It’s often only when you miss someone that their worth is realized, For iron sharpening iron, is a blessing in disguise. You ma…

A dream i dreamed a dream, a dream so real, i dreamed i was lost and was going to hell, i saw in this dream, an angel searching in a book, on the cover of this book it was written... The Book Of Life, the angel trailed his finger down the pages, looking for something, all the sudden i noticed someone across the room, not sure who he was, a judge was what i guessed when i looked in his face, another man on his left, a man with a kind face, this man smiled at me i smiled back, all the sudden the noise of someone clearing their throat was heard, everyone looked at the angel with the book, the angel looked sad for a moment, then he looked at the judge…

'Twas the night Jesus came and all through the house, not a person was praying, not one in the house... The Bible was left on the shelf without care, for no one thought Jesus would come there... The children were dressing to crawl into bed, not once ever kneeling or bowing their head... And Mom in the rocking chair with babe on her lap, was watching the Late Show as I took a nap... When out of the east there rose such a clatter, I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter... Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the shutters and lifted the sash... When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but Angels proclaiming t…

Three in One I love to hunt. I don’t get to go as often as I like, for various reasons, but I do enjoy it. My list of game that have been taken over the years is not large, but includes deer, several caribou, a bull moose and an Alaska grizzly bear. I also love to camp. Not in campers, but way out in the bush, on the ground under a tarp. I love 4-wheelers, bush planes, river boats and snowmobiles. I like to cook, love guns, training horses, leather work, splitting firewood and just being a man. I tell you all of this for a reason. I also love to preach and teach the Bible. There is nothing that remotely compares to studying the word of God prayerfully, a…

He Goes Before Dark is the sky! and veiled the unknown morrow! Dark is life's way, for night is not yet o'er; The longed-for glimpse I may not meanwhile borrow; But, this I know and trust, HE GOES BEFORE. Dangers are near! and fears my mind are shaking; Heart seems to dread what life may hold in store; But I am His---He knows the way I'm taking, More blessed even still---HE GOES BEFORE. Doubts cast their weird, unwelcome shadows o'er me, Doubts that life's best---life's choicest things are o'er; What but His Word can strengthen, can restore me, And this blest fact; that still HE GOES BEFORE. HE GOES BEFORE! Be this my consolation! He goes befo…

In the Fire! Life's Lessons from the Forge - Part 1 In blacksmithing, a piece of iron or steel is heated to varying degrees and worked into shape between the Smith’s hammer and his anvil. In order to heat the steel, the Smith places the steel into the forge, which contains burning coal, or coke. The Smith then pumps air through the burning coke which makes the fire reach an extreme heat, which in turn heats the steel. When the fire is hot, the Smith cannot just lay the steel on top of the fire for it will not absorb any heat, it will get “warm” but it will not get “hot.” In order for the steel to absorb the maximum heat quickly, there must first be a…

The Sun Rise's The alarm goes off, and I get up. I look out and see the world of darkness and cold that awaits me. and the sun rise's Down a meaningless road I drive, not knowing, nor caring of anything or anyone. and the sun rises's I pull over and stop, looking into the darkness, down this meaningless road, Looking for a reason to continue on, as the depression envelopes my soul. and the sun rise's Do I go on or do I stay, I know not, nor care, for the darkness that has envoleped me, is complete, and calls to me. and the sun rise's I sit, knowing what to do, and not caring, but wanting the darkness…

Stand Fast

Stand Fast We look around at a world That is changing day by day. A little here, a little there, Truth and Justice fade away. It is so easy to react, To point our fingers and to judge, But we must learn to forgive. It only hurts us to hold a grudge. We can't condone these changes. The churches must shine a while more. We must learn to love the sinners While our hearts are torn by war. A battle between God's Spirit And the lawlessness of man. While the Lord still extends his mercy, The end must come as planned. We must keep walking in the Spirit, Holding forth the Word of Life, And pray that they will hear it Amidst the emptiness a…

How Do I Remain Faithful? In a darkened world that is rapidly racing toward the end I see many Christians compromising like it's the latest trend I know for God's truth, I must earnestly contend But, my dear friend, how do I remain faithful? As the signs become clearer for God's children to see Lukewarm believers rush madly towards apostasy And this world beckons so alluringly to you and to me One question remains, how do I remain faithful? Soon we'll have a one-world economy, a one-world religion Tolerance is the byword - they say it's their decision As worldly Christians quickly lose all conviction Tell me again, how do I remain faithfu…

If God Himself Be for Me 1. If God Himself be for me, I may a host defy; For when I pray, before me My foes, confounded, fly. If Christ, my Head and Master, Befriend me from above, What foe or what disaster Can drive me from His love? 2. This I believe, yea, rather, Of this I make my boast, That God is my dear Father, The Friend who loves me most, And that, whate'er betide me, My Savior is at hand Through stormy seas to guide me And bring me safe to land. 3. I build on this foundation, That Jesus and His blood Alone are my salvation, The true, eternal good. Without Him all that pleases Is valueless on earth; The gifts I owe to Jesus Alone my lov…
