We never learn from history. We spent 88 Billion and got nothing. It was so predictable. Taliban fighters entered the outskirts of the Afghan capital on Sunday and said they were awaiting a "peaceful transfer" of the city after promising not to take it by force, but panicked residents raced to the leave, with workers fleeing government offices and helicopters landing at the U.S. Embassy. https://www.npr.org/2021/08/15/1027806863/the-taliban-seize-jalalabad-cutting-off-kabul-to-the-east

Afghanistan is not a country in the way we think of countries. It is a geographical area comprised of a number of tribes. Many of the tribes do not like the other tribes. Historically when there is no outside armies to fight they fight each other. We have seen that already beginning. The Panjshir Valley is located just over 30 miles from Kabul. The Soviets could not take it in the 1980's. The Taliban could not take it in the 1990's. I doubt that we even tried. It is long narrow complex of valleys with only one narrow road entering through a narrow entrance. There will be no peace in Afghanistan. Below is an interesting article: Several thousand anti-Taliban fighters …

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -A U.S. judge on Wednesday sanctioned Sidney Powell and other lawyers who sued in Michigan to overturn Democratic President Joe Biden's election victory over Donald Trump, and suggested they might deserve to lose their law licenses. In a highly anticipated written ruling, U.S. District Judge Linda Parker in Detroit said the pro-Trump lawyers, including Powell and prominent litigator Lin Wood, should have investigated the Republican former president's voter fraud claims more carefully before suing. Parker formally requested that disciplinary bodies investigate whether the pro-Trump lawyers should have their law licenses revoked. The judge als…

A New Jersey gym owner and a Washington state man on Friday became the first people to plead guilty to assaulting police in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, facing what they acknowledged in plea deals could be roughly three to five years in prison under sentencing guidelines. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/legal-issues/first-guilty-pleas-police-assault/2021/08/06/c966ab9a-f6c3-11eb-9068-bf463c8c74de_story.html

Sure, China likes to see us with a blackeye and problems. But with the Taliban in control this creates problems for China. The Western part of China is filled with non-Han Muslims who hate the Han Chinese. They now have friends in Afghanistan who probably will help them cause trouble. The two countries have a 57 mile common boarder. Both the Taliban and al-Qaeda will probably cause problems for China. From the article: There are two possible scenarios with extreme possibilities, said Victor Gao, vice president of the Center for China and Globalization. One is that the Taliban embraces reform and peace, and the other is that the Taliban reverts to its old w…

The South Carolina Republican senator Lindsey Graham called Joe Biden after his victory over Donald Trump to tell the president he only joined attacks on his son, Hunter Biden, as a “bare minimum” to satisfy Trump supporters. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/aug/16/lindsey-graham-joe-biden-hunter-call-trump-support Is Graham beginning to lay the groundwork to turn 180 degrees again and attack Trump at some point in the future?

On Wednesday, a Trump-appointed judge spanked three Trump boosters for spreading Trump’s lies in a ruling that could cost them hundreds of millions of dollars in damages. District Judge Carl J. Nichols crafted a blistering opinion allowing three defamation lawsuits filed by Dominion Voting Systems against MyPullow CEO Mike Lindell and Trump’s lawyers, Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani to move forward to trial.

It is always interesting to read articles such as this. The math that must be used to utilize the gravity of a planate to change and continue a space flight toward a successful mission is way beyond my comprehension. Two spacecraft are set to swoop past Venus within hours of each other this week, using the maneuver to do a little bit of bonus science on the way to their main missions at the center of our solar system. The European Space Agency's Solar Orbiter probe, a cooperation with NASA, will swing around Venus early Monday, using the planet's gravity to help put it on a course to observe the Sun's poles. About 33 hours later, the European-Japanese …

For the first time, the planet's top scientists said in a monumental report released on Monday they have definitively linked greenhouse gas emissions to the type of disasters driven by a warmer climate that have touched every corner of the globe this year: extreme rainfall in Germany and China, brutal droughts in the western U.S., a record cyclone in the Philippines and compound events like the wildfires and heat waves from the Pacific Northwest to Siberia to Greece and Turkey. https://www.politico.com/news/2021/08/09/climate-change-scientists-report-disastrous-502799

Ever since New York prosecutors hit the Trump Organization and its top financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, with tax fraud charges in July, it’s been obvious they have more evidence of wrongdoing than they’ve laid out. But now, it’s certain: Prosecutors also have evidence that the executive’s son, Barry Weisselberg, received the very same kind of corporate perks that investigators allege should have been taxed as income. Barry Weisselberg is the longtime manager of the Trump-owned Wollman ice rink in Central Park. Details about the financial arrangement, as well as tax returns showing that the additional income was unreported, were delivered to the New York attorney…

A federal judge in Colorado sanctioned two pro-Trump attorneys Wednesday who had filed a lawsuit after the presidential election alleging widespread fraud, with the judge saying in a scathing ruling that their claims were “disorganized and fantastical.” U.S. Magistrate Judge N. Reid Neuriter ordered Ernest Walker and Gary D. Fielder to pay the attorney fees and expenses for the defendants in their lawsuit, which included state leadership from Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia; Facebook and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan and voting machine company Dominion Voting Systems. https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2021/08/04/pro-trump-attorn…

The annualized real growth in America’s Gross Domestic Product during Trump’s administration was the worst since the Great Depression, according to updated and revised government data. And quarterly GDP data, which only dates back to Dwight Eisenhower’s presidency beginning in 1953, puts Trump dead last among the dozen presidents since then, according to Bloomberg. https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2021-08-02/trump-s-gdp-growth-was-the-worst-since-the-great-depression?sref=GzMobW41 And, if you take away the Pandemic his record is still not great.

What good does carrot juice do, for instance, that it is used in all the healing clinics in the USA and worldwide as far as known? How about the old remedy of chicken noodle soup ? Very common in the states even over a century ago, and may be found somewhat often today perhaps ? (home-made, not commercial processed with chemicals etc) And to strengthen much or most of the body, in a healthy way, vitamin E. Not with any warnings before druglords started opposing it around 1940-1955 = it was in the pharma books prior to that totally at any dose non-toxic. Every cell of the body, blood and brain, and bones may benefit from it, and much harm comes i…

That is a sad state of affairs as almost all the deaths between now and then are preventable.

The highly transmissible coronavirus variant called delta is present in all 50 states and is already dominant in many parts of the United States. Modeling shows the variant now accounts for 51.7 percent of all new infections in this country, five times the prevalence four weeks earlier, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the week ending July 3. “Although we expected the delta variant to become the dominant strain in the United States, this rapid rise is troubling,” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said Thursday during a White House news briefing. In some parts of the …
