Poll: McCain Leads Hayworth by 26 Points For some reason I'm not surprised, Mr. McCain has quite a large machine working for him, and has many favors owed him. Plus his opponent seems a bit more conservative than he. Steele's Racism Claim Slaps Own Party in Face "Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele slapped his own party in the face with his contention that being African-American is a factor in criticism of him and of Barack OBama. During Steele’s appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America” this week, George Stephanopoulos asked the RNC head whether his race gives him a “slimmer margin for error.” “The honest answer is yes,” Steele said. “It just is. Barack OBama has a slimmer margin. We all — a lot of folks do. It’s a different role for me to play and others to play, and that’s just the reality of it." Stem cell decision exposes religious divides The embryonic stem cell research debate is steeped with religious arguments, with some faith traditions convinced the research amounts to killing innocent life, others citing the moral imperative to alleviate suffering, and plenty of religious believers caught somewhere in between.
