I didn't watch the address - I just cannot listen to BO. I thought it was hilarious, though, that the front page of the newspaper was that BO was urging spending restraint!!!! We don't have tv, so I didn't catch the responses by Paul Ryan and Michelle Bachmann. PR actually quoted scripture! They didn't mince words, but were respectful about it. Christening Without Much Christianity Anglican church offers 'baptism lite' to attract non-worshippers By Steve Doughty London Daily Mail Jan. 18, 2011 Church of England baptism services may be re-written to remove some references to Christianity. The plan for a new ‘baptism lite’ service designed to make christenings more interesting to non-churchgoers will be considered next month by the Church’s parliament, the General Synod. Supporters say the baptism service should be ‘expressed in culturally appropriate and accessible language’ that is readily understood by ‘non-theologically versed Britons’. But traditionalist clergy said the idea amounted to ‘dumbing dow…

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/01/18/new-ala-gov-just-christians-family/?test=latestnews Seems like he could have witnessed publicly without being so polarizing. This doesn't seem like a wise decision. It makes born-again Christians look yet more ridiculous to the world.... I'm all for the witnessing part but he didn't have to actually come out and say "We are not brothers" because that means something pretty terrible to the public.

Pope rails against rise of un-Christian names by Nick Squire The (London) Telegraph While names such as Sienna and Scarlett have become fashionable in recent years, Pope Benedict XVI called for a return to tradition. During Mass at the Sistine Chapel, he said: "Every baptised child acquires the character of the son of God, beginning with their Christian name, an unmistakable sign that the Holy Spirit causes man to be born anew in the womb of the Church." He added that a name was an "indelible seal" that set children off on a lifelong "journey of religious faith". According to the Office for National Statistics, celebrity names such as Ashton – after the actor A…

Bradley Manning and the Case Against Solitary Confinement What is the purpose of this treatment? There is no further "anti-terrorist "information to get from him. Why has he not been tried? Is it because he has not committed any legal offence? Is it simple to warn others with access to classified information that they too will be subjected to the torture of solitary confinement without trial or conviction? Is the state working on legislation in order to invent laws under which he can be found guilty? Where is Christian compassion? Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to …

McGriff, leads The Church of the Living God and is a member of a politically active family, spent much of Christmas Day in jail. According to investigators, 51-year-old McGriff broke into Serita Agnew's home and tried to steal more than $10,000 worth of fur coats, designer purses and electronics. Pat ROBertson Endorses Decriminalization of Pot This is something I've though on, meditated on a great deal, and at times I completely agree with this. I may be wrong, but at times I feel this control our government puts on such stuff is more about politicians finding ways to squeeze money out of its citizens, along with doctor's lOBbyist way of funneling more money into doctors pocketbook by writing out prescriptions, plus the drug stores lOBbyist way of gaining money for the drug stores by filling prescriptions. Them of course the government taxing each time either is done. Plus on top of that they get to licences every one, sell permits and thus gaining even more …
