Can wasting food be considered as a sin? Cooking too much; letting food constantly sit in the refrigerator until rotten; purchasing too much from take-out...

A friend told me to re-use frying grease... I hate to waste stuff, so should I just filter the grease and use it for the same meats? Chicken, Pork-chops, Fish, etc. Or will it not matter if I mixed the greases.

Some of us use soup for cooking but what is your favorite eating soup? I like homemade soups the best but for something quick I like the chicken and dumplings soup that Campbell's makes.

So, I went to this family owned Italian restaurant with my husband, not long ago and had the best Italian dish I’ve ever had!! It was called Chicken Aristocrat. I had never heard of it before, it was a thin chicken breast, topped with a thin and lightly breaded slice of eggplant, and a slice of mozzarella, on top. It was served on top of spaghetti and the sauce was soo yummy. It was a pink sauce, I got to ask the waitress what was in it and she was nice enough to tell me! It was made with cream, parmesan, and a bit of marinara. I could tell there was basil in it, too. It kinda reminded me of creamy tomato basil soup! (Not surprisingly.) lol! I’m going to try to make…

I've spent way too much this Thanksgiving & Christmas on food items.... get togethers, traveling, etc. just all the things that can make food costs go up. I'm ready to buckle down again, and trim that food budget, but I'm curious..... I've read quotes about how much some frugal people spend on groceries, and it sometimes seems impossible to me. Are they quoting strictly edibles, or are they including foils, plastics, detergents, etc....? What area of the country do you live in, and what is your food bill (with or without the shampoos, tissue, etc...)? I live in the southeast, have a family of 6, including 4 adults & 2 teens, and my average costs run around $150-…

I learned a great truth last Sunday. Our preacher said that the word "vegetarian" is an old Indian word for "terrible hunter"! I like that definition! Roadkill soup: wait until the roadkill (it doesn't matter what kind) gets tenderized by tire tracks. (about four days should do it!) Scoop it up with a shovel and place in a well greased griddle. Add a little egg (One small egg), a pinch of salt, and your favorite herbs and spices. Let it set overnight, unrefrigerated, and add 2 cups of warm water. Bring to a boil blending in the ketchup and mustard in the amount you desire. Add onions, potatoes, and a thick broth Serve hot on a large bun or serve i…

Personally, I'd rather skip breakfast most of the time but that really isn't healthy. I'm trying to wean my kids from wanting dry cereal and milk every morning. They inherited a love of cereal from their dad! He told me when we were married that he didn't want me to cook breakfast in the morning because he would rather have cereal. We reserve hot breakfasts like eggs, bacon and pancakes for a weeknight meal. Anyhoo, I'm trying to make a list of breakfast ideas that are reasonably healthy (donuts are not healthy :saint ) to serve to the kids. I've gotten their input as well as to the things they like. We have alternate breakfasts a couple of times a week but I w…

Weird Foods 1 2 3

Any of you have ever eaten weird foods? Share it, it'll be pretty appealing! I for one at times eat raw onions. They're good for your health, even though they stink. Of course, I make sure I only eat that when I am not going outdoors. Then, especially if you come to Singapore, never forget the durian. It's a tropical fruit with pods inside that has some sweet creamy (and some say smelly) stuff inside. Try it. You'll love it!
