My wife made some pizza yesterday. IT IS THE BEST! I have had good pizza but hers is soooo good. My mom use to make home-made pizza. I did not like it at all. My wife learned to make the same nasty pizza my mm made so we set out to find a good recipe. I am not sure where she found it or what it is but it is AWSOME! If anyone is interested I can ask her where on the net she found it and post the link. Let me know...

Hi Everybody, It's that time of year again for autumn fruits and veggies. The growing season this year in south east Pennsylvania has been exceptionally fine for fruit growing. Pears in particular did especially well. Our neighbor has a huge tree full of them but he does not want them. These pears are sweet, crisp and juicy and possess a very flavor content. If you happen to come into an abundance of them then the following idea may be beneficial to you::::::::::::::::::: Pear Filling for Pies, Crisps, COBblers, and Crumbles, Slumps and Grunts Peel and cut up the pears. Put them into a large pan or kettle and cover them with water. Add sugar, honey or you…

Does anyone have any good bean/rice recipes? My husband and I eat a lot of meat, every single dinner, and it gets quite expensive. I'm hoping to add a couple of bean dinners to the menu to help spice up our dinners and to help save some money. The only problem is I've never really made any bean dishes. Any recipes would be greatly appreciated :smile

I love asparagus, but very rarely can I afford to buy it. Knowing this, my hubby was at work the yesterday, and apparently someone had brought in a HUGE amount of asparagus free for the taking. My hubby literally brought home about 5lbs. of it! (I wasn't kidding when I said they had a lot of it there and many others took some home as well) Anyway, we are having it for supper tonight and I'm trying to think of ways to be creative. Does anyone have any favorite recipes they would like to share? I've been trying to find a good recipe for cream of asparagus soup especially. I am looking forward to your responses, as I know we have some very good cooks on here!! :wvlf…

What salad dressings are opaque and around this color? I tasted a salad dressing many years ago that was fabulous but I cannot remember what kind it was. It was not a vinaigarette and it was not Thousand Island. A friend suggested that it might have been Russian dressing but when I Googled it in images, I couldn't come up with anything satisfactory.

Some of us use soup for cooking but what is your favorite eating soup? I like homemade soups the best but for something quick I like the chicken and dumplings soup that Campbell's makes.

I have only one child, and I tell ya, it is hard to cook for a small family. Everything I have to cook, I have to cut the recipes in half or freeze all the leftovers. It is hard to freeze some food, though. I did find this: http://www.prevention.com/cda/channelpa ... on.recipes It will let you change the serving size if you have to. This is one of my favorite recipe for a breaksfast "dinner" for my son with egg allergies. I adjusted the serving size, and so you may not need a "Large" bowl as the recipe said: 1/2 c soy milk (I use regular milk) 1/4 c water 1/2 c whole wheat flour 1/4 c stone ground cornmeal 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/8 tsp …

Some of you may have already read this, but for those who haven't: "The case of the disappearing teaspoons: longitudinal cohort study of the displacement of teaspoons in an Australian research institute" http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/331/7531/1498?ck=nck A highlight: "Therefore to maintain a workable population (one spoon for every two people) 252.4 (194.3 to 328) teaspoons would need be purchased every year. If we assume that the annual rate of teaspoon loss per employee can be applied to the entire workforce of the city of Melbourne (about 2.5 million), an estimated 18 million teaspoons are going missing in Melbourne each year. Laid end to end, these lost t…

Personally, I'd rather skip breakfast most of the time but that really isn't healthy. I'm trying to wean my kids from wanting dry cereal and milk every morning. They inherited a love of cereal from their dad! He told me when we were married that he didn't want me to cook breakfast in the morning because he would rather have cereal. We reserve hot breakfasts like eggs, bacon and pancakes for a weeknight meal. Anyhoo, I'm trying to make a list of breakfast ideas that are reasonably healthy (donuts are not healthy :saint ) to serve to the kids. I've gotten their input as well as to the things they like. We have alternate breakfasts a couple of times a week but I w…

Anybody here like CornNuts? Mmmm I love them. They are so bad for you and they make your jaws tired LOL but for some reason they are SO addicting! I just ordered a huge case of them on Amazon.com because to buy them with the subscription you get a % off and free shipping, and so they ended up being only like a buck per 4 oz bag. So I'll be eating Nacho Cheese Cornnuts for months LOL but they are good! Unfortunately they aren't diet food. *sigh* Great for the munchies though!

I love sour cream, but unfortunately we have never been able to find it here....until this past weekend! I was at a big grocery store in the city - one that we don't get to very often. I checked the cheese/butter section just to see if there was anything new there, and I found 4 small tubs of sour cream!!!!!! I bought all 4 of them! I don't expect to find sour cream again for a while, so I want to use this that I got wisely. I used up half of one of the containers on baked potatoes yesterday, and I still have 3 1/2 containers left. So my question is: What would you say is the most tasty way to use up sour cream? I know of one other recipe I want to make that wi…
