Do they bring the kids to the bar now? For some reason it reminds me of "candy cigarettes" and yust going by the very name of it, I wouldn't take my family to anything named "pub".

Gray Areas? Often, when we are debating an issue, someone will challenge us with “Chapter and verse please”, but there is not always a chapter and verse for things that are right. Why don’t they ask the Holy Spirit for chapter and verse? Let me say first that there are no gray areas, not really; my Bible is written in black and white, and is as plain as black and white. Nevertheless, here are seven guidelines for us to use to determine what is right and wrong when there may not seem to be an applicable verse: Ask yourself “How does this affect me…” 1. Spiritually? 2. Mentally? (see James 1:8) 3. Morally? 4. Emotionally? 5. Ethically? 6. Physically? 7. and …

I just read a statement by IFB preacher referring to Obama as a "half Canaanite"? Where does he get that? I thought he was half Kenyan and half Caucasian (American)?

"A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world." (Jn. 16: 21) "Happy New Year" seems to be a very optimistic outlook when we consider what we are facing next year. I never did understand why we bid one another "happy new year" right along with a "Merry Christmas"! The two are as far apart as east and west. The one, spiritual, the other secular and worldly. Perhaps we are happier that the old year is finally over, and is lost in history? That would be more like it! With each new year comes pain and misery, as a wom…

How often do you hear people you know, or people online say that around the Christmas holiday?! And I'm referencing Santa, not Jesus. How terrible is that?! I don't plan on telling my daughter that Santa is real. We will have our own way of handling the Holidays that my husband and I have discussed. Gifts OBviously should not be all about Christmas but to use something that is blatantly not real and blackmail your kids that if they say anything to their younger siblings about Santa not being real then they don't get gifts? I don't take a severely strong opinion against the fictional character, but I'm not going to lead my child to believe it for however many years then go…

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chron. 7:14) “If My People…” The most unpredictable word in this verse is the word “if”. The Lord allows us to decide. He does not impose, nor force Himself upon anyone. The plea is to our conscience and our character; “if” my people, the select group that are called by His name. This includes the adopted, as well as the natural born. If God’s people would hearken unto Him, what a glorious place this world would be, a virtual Heaven on earth. Tha…

I hate that the "Jehovah's Witnesses" are called that. They are not Jehovah's witnesses. The saved are! Some call them, "Jehovah's False Witnesses." I don't think that is right either. He has no false witnesses. I call them, "False Jehovah's Witnesses."

JESUS The name of our beloved Savior serves as an outline for my brief message in an acrostic. J Justified freely. Someone has said that “justified” means “Just as if I’d never sinned”. It focuses on our sins but, but particularly on guilt. Justification is a legal term that pardons us from the legality; the punishment; and the penalty of sin. We need not feel guilty about our sin any longer, but confident that the Lord has removed us from it, and it from us, and declared us free from sin and guilt. E Eternally secure. Never having to worry about the reproaches of sin again; no “double jeopardy” in the court of our Lord. We are not called to account any longer “The…

This verse refers to the bondservant character seen in the Old Testament. My Master, lead me to Thy door; Pierce this now willing ear once more; Thy bonds are freedom; let me stay With Thee, to toil, endure, obey. (Handley Moule) It's rather figurative, but in these days of individual rights and human autonomy I guess it gives an insight into attitudes of service and obedience to God, found in Scripture. The whole issue of lifelong commitment is one which goes right against the fickleness of the human heart, (and also contrasts with contemporary, half-hearted attitudes to marriage vows, and so forth). I reckon one could say that it really searches the heart and r…

November 5 Morning “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.” - Isa_54:17 This day is notable in English history for two great deliverances wrought by God for us. On this day the plot of the Papists to destroy our Houses of Parliament was discovered, 1605. “While for our princes they prepare In caverns deep a burning snare, He shot from heaven a piercing ray, And the dark treachery brought to day.” And secondly-to-day is the anniversary of the landing of King William III, at Torbay, by which the hope of Popish ascendancy was quashed, and religious liberty was secured, 1688. This day ought to be celebrated, not by the saturnalia of striplings, bu…

2Thess 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. And in 2Thess 3:6 ¶ Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. I have read and re-read Paul's Writtings trying to figure out which traditions he taught in this Epistle. I still am trying to figure it out but apparently Paul taught some traditions and he gives a command by inspiration to stand fast and hold the traditions which he taught. This is a good a place as any for us to search …

This phrase, "universal rights of the people", and other similar phrases seems to be a common theme when America is trying to tell other nations how they must conduct themselves. Just what does this mean? Who determines what is or isn't the "universal rights of the people"? Is it only those America dislikes that must abide by the "universal rights of the people"? Along these lines, what has America's response been when other nations have tried to tell America something similar whether in regards to the American "civil war", the time of the "civil rights" movement, or others? Why does America demand that Egypt or Libya must respect the "universal rights of the people"…

Billboards all over town say "We care". Isn't it amazing how many companies and businesses care about us...as long as we can afford them to? people actually think that you can buy compassion, and unfortunately some Christian seem to think so too. The "What's in it for me" attitude motivates many to work for the Lord--take away the perks, and it's goodbye Jesus. Still, I am befuddled by all the lawyers and organization that say they care, and if you pay them, they'll help you. I like what the lord said in 1 Peter 5:7: "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." Only Jesus really cares. the salvation Army is now privately owned (or so I hear), and…
