Last Saturday, took some folks from the church to hear Kent Hovind speak. Wasn't thrilled with the church he spoke at, and I suspect he wasn't either-it was a 6-hour meeting, broken into four parts, and before the first and between each, their 'worship band' played THREE songs. yeah, bad. The worst part was that some of the sings weren't THAT bad, had very good lyrics, but HAD to have a heavy drumbeat, especially at places it wasn't appropriate even for a rock song, and the rock guitar riffs. It really served to cause the subject matter to be so broken up that it lost most cohesiveness. They kept him on a tight leash time-wise. As well, even though we are both post…

Delusion: an idiosyncratic belief or impression that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality or rational argument, typically a symptom of mental disorder. A delusion is a belief held with strong conviction despite superior evidence to the contrary. I will pick out to site the topic: Atheists and delusion. The phrase in the definition sited above. "A delusion is a belief held with strong conviction despite superior evidence to the contrary" Superior evidence need I say more. Israel all of the geographic data in the Bible. The existence of all the peoples listed in the Bible. The archaeological evidence for all t…

Does anyone know anything about a preacher named Steve Gregg? The office where I now work is owned by two evangelical Christians who follow Joyce Meyers and Joel Osteen and their ilk - and now they have started a morning bible study program with this Steve Gregg guy on his website called "the narrow path." One of them sent me a link to one of his sermons that sounded pretty good but I could tell he was not using the KJV Bible and he was quite critical about the way the verses were divided up ... http://thenarrowpath.com/ 1 John11. Chapter 2:28-3:3 By not participating in this Bible study I am treated as if I am a heathen or something, but since this dude does not us…

Here in Australia I don't know of one pastor who uses the term "Reverend", either for himself or for a visiting Pastor or evangelist, yet a few guys I know, when they have been to the US have been called "Reverend" when they have preached at IFB churches over there. Personally, aside from not being a Biblical term, I find it a little offensive to the Lord, as He is the one due reverence, not His servants. Any thoughts? Is this common over there?

I'm going to post 2 sites, now, I know nothing about price, nor anything else about these 2 sites, the 1st one was advertised in Sword of the Lord. Far Above Rubies Modest Apparel And I'm posting them just in case someone is looking for such a thing, I have no connections with either of them.

What do you guys think about the movie theatre? I was always taught that the main reasons Christians didn't go was because (a) it was the appearance of evil and (b) we were supporting Hollywood. But to me it seems like we could be buying pornographic DVD's from Wal-Mart as well as we could be watching a bad movie at the theatre and that we spend more money supporting Hollywood buying movies from Wal-Mart than the theatre. Your thoughts?

I thought I had at least a general understanding of what Dispensationalism was about but as I've been looking more deeply into it I've discovered I only have a general understanding of one aspect or view of Dispensationalism. It seems there is more than one view of just what Dispensationalism is and how many Dispensations there have been, as well as plenty who don't believe in it. Also, in trying to trace the history of Dispensationalism I've found out what I was told was very limited and not entirely accurate. I've found it interesting that early on, many who readily accepted Dispensationalism were of the sort most of us here would not be aligned with while many who st…

The forum Bible study on 2 & 3 John has now officially begun. To begin let us consider the following questions: 1. What are the primary themes of subject matter in 2 John? 2. In what verses of 2 John do we find each of these primary themes presented? 3. What are the primary themes of subject matter in 3 John? 4. In what verses of 3 John do we find each of these primary themes presented? (Note: I myself DO have thoughts in answer to the above questions; but I shall wait for other contributions before I present them, so that I myself do not simply dominate everything.)

History is fascinating. I thought a thread on what happened on the day would be interesting. Feel free to input. April 19 1012 - Aelfheah was murdered by Danes who had been ravaging the south of England. Aelfhear became the 29th Archbishop of Canterbury in 1005. 1539 - Emperor Charles V reached a truce with German Protestants at Frankfurt, Germany. 1587 - English admiral Sir Francis Drake entered Cadiz harbor and sank the Spanish fleet. 1689 - Residents of Boston ousted their governor, Edmond Andros. 1713 - Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI issued the Pragmatic Sanction, which gave women the rights of succession to Hapsburg possessions. 1764 - The English Parl…

I'm trying not to shop at stores that use my money to support sin (homosexuality, abortion ect.) So I left Home Depot and started going to Lowes. I was at the checkout with my new compost bin and I noticed they were selling pink Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation gardening tools and garden flags. (sigh) I just can't win.

Fireproof was a great movie starring Kurt Cameron and Erin Bethea which made me cry openly. Kurt Cameron seeks to help believers who are struggling in their marriages become intimate again. It was one great movie!

Hey all, I do gaming online. I play Call of Duty, which is a WWII game. Yes it is a first person shooter, but I am with an organization that goes out and spreads the Gospel to the gaming community. To learn more about the organization, here is the address, www.menofgod.us. To give an idea of why I do this let me explain a little about what I do. First there are over 3,000+ servers for this one game. In those servers there can be anywhere from 0-60 people in each one. Doing the math for 1 person per server, that is 3,000 people. I go into the game and play, making small talk and then I start witnessing to them. Telling them that Jesus loves them and that he died …

We have the topic about the couple whose having their 18th child. So do you think about this. A family has many children, but can't afford to feed them and clothe them, so the government pays the way for their children. Do you think that is proper? One thing that got me about the Mormons who have many wife's and lots of children, many of them get government assistance to care for their large family that they cannot afford to take care of.
