I am against Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings, as well as the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. But what about Cinderella? Or the Wizard of Oz? Are you against all movies with any sort of magic? Or do you allow a few movies with a little magic here and there? This is something I wonder about a lot. I'll admit that I love Cinderella, but if I am against other movies involving magic, why is Cinderella okay? Hmm. What are your thoughts and convictions?

Why do we need this just because one person wanted it? What is wrong with the youth posting questions they want adult input on in the other forums? There's no point to a youth forum if all the adults can post in here anyways. That's why I didn't use the old one much...wasn't any point. Katy-Anne

At times there seems to be many different views on this board. And I have been wondering can all be Indepedant Fundemental Baptists?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask a question about History but I have an enquiry. I like to spend time reading History, not only British, but also European and N. American, and over the last few years have read quite a lot about the US Civil War. However, I note that some commentators refer to it as "The war between the States" and appear to get irritated by it being called the Civil War; can anyone help me with this? If you are travelling through the US are there any areas where you would get in trouble for calling the conflict the Civil War?

Gray Areas? Often, when we are debating an issue, someone will challenge us with “Chapter and verse please”, but there is not always a chapter and verse for things that are right. Why don’t they ask the Holy Spirit for chapter and verse? Let me say first that there are no gray areas, not really; my Bible is written in black and white, and is as plain as black and white. Nevertheless, here are seven guidelines for us to use to determine what is right and wrong when there may not seem to be an applicable verse: Ask yourself “How does this affect me…” 1. Spiritually? 2. Mentally? (see James 1:8) 3. Morally? 4. Emotionally? 5. Ethically? 6. Physically? 7. and …

Thru out the last several months "Water Boarding" has come up quite often. I really did not know nothing about it, but today I read up on it. I posted a poll in my Air Force group to see what their opinion would be. I also sent an e-mail to a former POW who I met at our Air Force Base Reunion this past October. I feel Jim will reply and I really looking forward to his opinion Jim was the only one to survived, the B-52 he was on, it got hit by one Sam missile after which a 2nd one hit and his plane disintegrated, but some how Jim came out of it alive only to be captured and taken to Hanoi Hilton.. I was wondering what y'all think about it, so here it is. Moderator not…

I have gone back and forth on the issue of tithing for a while, and have done some studying on my own. I am still not quite sure what I think. I probably lean more towards a grace giving position. What position do you hold to, and why?

Given the amount of nonsense and negativity I have read here regarding the men of the Lord that go out there to do His bidding, preaching at true Christian churches, rebuking heathens, and doing street preaching, I figured we need a good example of how to properly preach. Let's start from the pulpit. Here is an account from a fellow pastor of mine, and a few good anti-abortion preaching techniques:

We need to explain why this isn't a good idea. Too many people support this.

Here in Australia I don't know of one pastor who uses the term "Reverend", either for himself or for a visiting Pastor or evangelist, yet a few guys I know, when they have been to the US have been called "Reverend" when they have preached at IFB churches over there. Personally, aside from not being a Biblical term, I find it a little offensive to the Lord, as He is the one due reverence, not His servants. Any thoughts? Is this common over there?

What's with David Cloud these days? I used to really like him, but now I feel like he is causing more division than anything else. The passage in the Bible that says "I am of Paul, I am of Cephus, I am of Christ" seems like what he is doing. He is going around saying bad things about anyone who doesn't fit into the perfect definition of the perfect IFB church. His latest attack was on Ken Ham. Now, Ken Ham does not have all our same convictions. He doesn't claim to. I don't even think he claims to be Independent Baptist. But what he does do is travel the country encouraging people to trust Christ as Savior, and encouraging this new generation of young people t…

ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S AMERICA By Chuck Baldwin February 18, 2009 NewsWithViews.com America just celebrated Presidents Day this past Monday. What first began as an observance for President George Washington has (since the 1980s) morphed into the generic "Presidents Day," which is a politically correct celebration of mediocrity that forces our nation's greatest President to be lumped together with incompetents such as Ulysses S. Grant, Woodrow Wilson, and Jimmy Carter. On the occasion of Presidents Day, a USA Today/Gallup poll asked the American people to select the greatest President. The top five Presidents, according to the Gallup poll, are (in order): Ronald Reaga…

I thought I had at least a general understanding of what Dispensationalism was about but as I've been looking more deeply into it I've discovered I only have a general understanding of one aspect or view of Dispensationalism. It seems there is more than one view of just what Dispensationalism is and how many Dispensations there have been, as well as plenty who don't believe in it. Also, in trying to trace the history of Dispensationalism I've found out what I was told was very limited and not entirely accurate. I've found it interesting that early on, many who readily accepted Dispensationalism were of the sort most of us here would not be aligned with while many who st…

I thought I would post a thread to discuss the gasoline prices. I live in Florida and the prices here have hit the $4 mark. I never imagined I would ever in my lifetime pay this much for gasoline. I can remember getting all upset when gasoline when beyond $1.00 gallon and every gasoline pump in the nation had to be replaced! (Sort of a Y2K thing for you younger folks!) I found a map of gasoline prices for the entire country here at this link - it is near the bottome of the page. http://www.baynews9.com/GasPrices.html#citrus I have been reading articles about how schools are implementing 4 day school weeks to save gasoline. What are some of the ways you guys are chang…

In 1997(?) I read an article written by Mr. Cloud that was exceptionally critical of the ministry that reached me for Christ. I was bothered because the article was full of errors and made assumptions that were just not true. These errors were the pretext for which he crafted a scathing case against a fruit-bearing ministry. He mentioned believers that I personally know and that love God and serve him the best they know how. Since I served in this ministry for many years, I’m intimately familiar with its inner workings. I contacted Mr. Cloud with a cordial email stating my full name, address, and phone number. I pointed out a few substantial errors he stated as fact i…
