Currently marriage in Australia is defined as between a man and a woman. There is about to be a "Postal Plebiscite" to decide if ti stays that way. This is going to happen basically because the current ruling party wanted a compulsory attendance plebiscite (referendum basically), but couldn't get enough votes in the parliament to do so. The main opposition parties want a vote in parliament by the representatives. Remember that I am not talking about the US, but Australia, and a true plebiscite vote is not only legal, but the highest expression of democracy available in Australia, where each and every eligible person can vote on a particular issue. As a…

BIBLES FOR BONEHEADS By Lee Duigon December 27, 2012 NewsWithViews.com If you’d like to be spiritual without the hassle of being a Christian, and you’ve received money or a gift card for Christmas, you may want to buy one or more of the new, improved Bibles that are coming out. We’ve all heard of the new “gay-friendly” or “Queen James” Bible (see this link) that turns a sin into a blessing, or whatever. Well, this is going to be taken one step farther for the Self-Esteem Bible. Published by the Stunata Foundation, the Self-Esteem Bible is “guaranteed to give you a warm glow every time you look into the mirror to pray,” according to a recommendation by Joseph Procr…

Early this week the bottom of my dress shoe started to rip off. I had superglued it back but the glue I used was week and it cam loose again. Then it ripped even more. So my parents and I were hoping my shoe would last till pay day (tomorrow). Yesterday at school I walked past the pastor of the church and I saw him look at my shoe. So I tried to hurry past him before he could ask. He decided to follow me. He walked into the room I was in and asked what size my shoe was. I told him and he walked out. I thought at first he had a pair that he did not like in his office that he was going to give me. I really did not want anything though. Today I hadn't seen him all day, till …

Eight years ago I was at work when the nation was horrified by the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Young men I babysat or knew from their childhood have since joined up, one dying only 8 days after getting to Iraq in 2004 - the Friday before Easter. My own son joined the National Guard two years ago, with a strong desire to fight for and defend his country. His unit was returning from Iraq just after he finished his AIT schooling, so he hasn't deployed. The unit will be deploying again in the new year, but he is being activated for another mission stateside (at least that's the plan for now). I have to say that I don't want my son to die! I don't know any mother of a sol…

My Hope is not a Hope with a Doubt Yet many never find this true Hope which many of us have found, they never find the confidence that God has truly given His children, that He wants His children to have. He has showed us through the writings of Paul that this hope is not a hope with a doubt. 2Ti 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. Notice the confidence that Paul expressed to Timothy. It is not a matter of doubt, it is the matter that Paul knows whom He has believed and he knows that which he…

Dr. dictionary, you seem to be a very smart cookie ? but not everyone here, love chocolate chips. Remember you are looking and studying the Bible, as a liberal. There are many good liberals out there, that are nice people. I believe you are one. You are just trying to hard, to blend in here. It took me as a conservative, 2 years, to blend in here. Almost had my head chop off, many warnings. Why do I stay here? When I am gone, there will be still many people reading the crazy stuff, that I post here, for growth. This is why I call you, Dr. dictionary. The professional theologian. ?

Our music director used this book last Wednesday to help illustrate choosing God honoring music. The book, Publication Date: March 1987, makes it a little dated but, it still has good commentary. Has anyone here read this book and what would be your elevator ride comments for it? Could anyone here recommend a newer book, similar to above, with the IFB preference? Also, I would like to buy some other books for television viewing, Christian conversation, and general Christian conduct in and outside the home. I'm open to suggestions. If you have a link to a bookstore with some books for these areas please help. I intend to just lay them where I know my wife can put her…

Our pastor's wife lent a book to me about spiritual warfare. I was a former Catholic and the Christian view about spiritual warfare is very different. Also in comparison with evangelical Christians who also exorcise demons. We are urged to resist the devil and we shouldn't busy ourselves in exorcising people and places. As a Christian (genuine) we are sure that we will not be possesed by the devil since, we are under GOD's protection. Any comments/insights about this book? Any other book that you can recommend to me re: spiritual warfare since I'm a baby Christian. Was baptized last year.

Missouri Commission Removes Desert Storm Memorial with ‘Jesus Fish’by William Bigelow12 Aug 2015 On Tuesday, the three-member Boone County Commission in Columbia, Missouri voted unanimously to remove a memorial honoring Operation Desert Storm from the county courthouse to a private cemetery because it featured an ichthys, AKA “Jesus fish.” Two Boone County men who died in Operation Desert Storm, Patrick Connor and Steven Farnen, were listed on the memorial, but now the county has decided to replace the memorial with another one lacking any religious symbol. In May 2014. Americans United for Separation of Church and State started a campaign against the memorial, sending a …

I work at a large hardware store, and I have a problem with my supervisor. She's always rude and she swears and yells constantly and sometimes blames me for not doing things she never told me to do. I just can't stand working with her. I need help! What does the Bible say about working with difficult people?
