Okay, this forum did say general chats about anything. What is the difference between using a colon and a semi-colon? I have a general idea, but someone recently tried pointing out something in a Bible passage that depended upon punctuation, and I wasn't really sure if his use or understanding of that punctuation was right. It was not what I am asking about here - but wanted to see how these punctuation marks practically broke up thoughts and sentences. If I did not word this the best, please just focus on the general idea I am discussing. I do not think ANY punctuation will change the meaning of a passage (they break up or help focus on something that is being said)…

I love it when I find something ironic in the Bible about an enemy of God. Some things are overt, and some things you only see the irony or humour after you think about it for a bit. For example, God striking the Philistines with hemorrhoids was hilarious. He could have killed them, but He didn't. Worse part afterwards was that they then made golden hemorrhoids to worship. Ugh! Or the Pharaoh when he replied to Moses and said remove the frogs tomorrow. What? You want one more night with the frogs because you are so stubborn? Yowza! This was interesting today though. Just reading stuff on the life of David and I thought that what Goliath said here was ironic…

When needed, I have no problem contending for the faith, debating doctrines and understanding of Scripture passages, but sometimes I just want to discuss something Biblical, but not controversial - to see where others stand or perhaps see if I can learn more about something through them and their understanding of the Bible. I read recently in a commentary that there were seven famines in the Bible. It stuck with me because of the number - God's number of perfection, completion. An excoworker of mine (from the Gospel Mission, he worked there in 2006) is now believing some pretty wacky stuff about salvation. I conversed with him over a couple of emails yesterday, then he sent me a name of some teacher on youtube: Bruce Wauchope. Based on what my colleague said, I knew the teaching was wacko - but after my friend broke off contact (when I stuck with the Bible and how to be saved in Christ), I decided to check out the videos. This past year Vivian and I have had two family members and four friends take their own lives. With the Coronavirus, the lockdowns, many churches not having "in person" services, and being away from their jobs and friends, people often forget that they are worth something in the eyes of God. Most will probably say "Send them to a church," or "have a pastor call on them," which is definitely great advice, but many times there isn't enough time and the need is immediate. This is an interesting article about how Creation Science Ministries fall short of teaching and preaching the whole counsel of God's Word, how they are typically ecumenical, don't separate from error and false teachers. I thought it was worth passing on. Elsewhere on these boards, it was pointed out that ICR, though it uses the KJV in some articles (such as Days of Praise), they are often guilty of questioning and correcting it - something to be aware of. Is anyone familiar with this author's theology? He has written various books on Israel and the endtimes and has appeared on various shows through the years. His first Christian fiction series has five books: The Last Jihad, The Last Days, The Ezekiel Option, plus two more. It must be very hard for a preacher after many years training members how to seek and serve God to see these members just walk out, from the church membership, for no good reason. Humans are always looking for the perfect church. Even if they know they’ll never find one because the church is full of repentant sinners, and the perfect church will be when Christ come back. But this still keeps happening everywhere. I don’t know what’s wrong with our pastor he seems not to be the same anymore. Just saying, Can you please tell me when you find the perfect church thanks.

My wife got gas on Friday night @ $2.96 a gallon. She said that gas this morning was $3.19 a gallon at the Pilot station, and $3.22 at the Thorntons! Kroger Fuel had it at $3.18...Our gas expense every week has gone from $70 to over $125...Thank you, Mr. Biden! That's just for the one vehicle. My pickup truck takes 5 gallon more than our Explorer...We could easily spend over $150 a week on gas. How much is gas where you are???

I love the Autumn. Though it is the worst season for my Meniere's disease, I love the changing of the leaves here in the mountains of Tennessee. My wife and I used to drive down 41A every year from Murfreesboro to Chattanooga and take pictures of the vibrant colors. It was so beautiful. We haven't done it for several years now because my wife usually only has Sunday off, and we are in church that day. We also have several other things we have to do, ie, going to the dump, post office and grocery store. Then there is laundry to do, dinner to make and dishes to wash, dry and put away. What is YOUR favorite time of year? Why?

Our church is currently working through Psalm 119 as our Bible study on Wednesday evenings. Psalm 119:44 So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever. It pays to look up every word! I work my way through each word in the verse, checking the Hebrew words to see what they mean. In English we use the phrase "forever and ever" to just mean ongoing, to just emphasize that we mean "always." I was working on my Bible study lesson, and saw a lot in it today. I first go through the passage, this week it is Psalm 119:105-112 with the heading NUN, and define words, then I read the corresponding chapter from Spurgeon's The Golden Alphabet. After that I work through the workbook lesson. All three usually bring things to mind that I can interconnect. Actually, you are dead wrong and teaching falsehood. The Bible teaches repentance from sin and repentance are both necessary for faith. Again, with the straw men. Repentance is not cleaning up your life - it is changing your mind about your sin and turning from it in your heart. If it is true repentance, it WILL reflect in the life - but the changed life is the result of true repentance, not the repentance itself. Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. If repentance was turning from unbelief, then that verse above would not make sense: believe so you can believe. Matthew 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: Luke 17:3-4 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. Reader, When a person hears the "Gospel", as, "faith comes by hearing" ... then this faith is proof something happened in the heart of the Believer that God SEES... as "God sees the heart" And what is that, that God sees that has happened inside you? God sees your "repentance" ....that is of the kind that God accepts, and that is not repenting from sin....but its repenting from UNBELIEF. See, God is not looking for people who are willing to "clean up"... as = ""Jesus came into the world to save SINNERS" See that Reader? God is looking for FAITH IN CHRIST...and then God will clean you ............So, God is looking for FAITH.....as that proves you have repented from your UNBELIEF.... and God takes that FAITH, and accepts that one time FAITH = forever..... and then He does this... A.) He takes ALL your sin, and puts it on Jesus, "God hath made Jesus to be SIN for us".... = as if Jesus is YOU THE SINNER, and then Christ dies on the Cross, for ALL YOUR SIN.. and then,,. God takes that Righteous LIFE that Jesus LIVED.. and God gives it to you... "imputs it".. ."charges it to you", as if you lived it all your life. This is to become "a New Creation, In Christ". See that? That is : SALVATiON.... Its Jesus becoming our wrong and our sin, and us, = through God's Grace.... God gives us His own RIGHTEOUSNESS, as if we were always righteous, and will always be.. RIGHTEOUS. = to become BORN AGAIN. This is the "imputed righteousness" that God gives you the INSTANT you trusted in Christ, and you remain "made righteous".. having become "the righteousness of God, in Christ".... = FOREVER. Welcome to : Salvation Its a "GIFT"..... an Eternal Gift. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reader Let me simplify it even more.. God is Holy and we are not. So, for God to have us, is for God to join Himself to us : Spiritually. See, "God is A Spirit" and we are a spirit in a body that is not connected to God because our SIN does not allow God to have spiritual union with us. So, See the 2 fold issue? 1.) You have to become as RIGHTEOUS as God, before HOLY RIGHTEOUS God, can join Himself to you, so that you become BORN AGAIN SPIRITUALLY. 2.) Your SIN is blocking God from having you rejoined to Him in "Spiritual Union". So, GOD had to solve = these 2 issues for you, as you can't deal with your own sin, and you can't become righteous. A.) God became a man to die for all your sin, so that He can then give you HIS Righteousness. And that is what happens when you go to God with Faith in Christ. God takes the Blood and Death of Jesus and makes you sinless, as "Jesus is the ONE TIME... Eternal SACRIFICE for SIN" AND then, once your SIN is dealt with by the BLOOD and DEATH of Jesus........as He has now died for them all..... God then gives you "the Gift of Righteousness" that is "The Gift of Salvation". See that? That is to become BORN AGAIN... as a "new Creation".. "in Christ". AS = "ONE with GOD". See how simple that is, yet how amazing is this Gift of Salvation? Jesus dies for your sin so that God can now give you His RIGHTEOUSNESS... and then He can Join Himself to you, as you have now and forever... become.. AA.) = "The Righteousness ... OF GOD...... David used to be my youth pastor at the Faith Baptist Church where I grew up. His father, Henry C. Sorenson was my pastor for nine years. David was not always KJVO', and once gave and encouraged my mother to read an NASB version of the Bible shortly after she got saved. -

Nope, she was a lost child of the Catholic Church, trusting in her works to get her to Heaven. She rejected much Scriptural truth, and made people happy/comfortable dying in their own false religions. AND no lost person can ever do "GOOD WORKS" in God's eyes. All her righteousnesses are as filthy rags (see Isaiah 64:6) compared to the pure, sinless blood of Jesus which was shed on the cross to redeem us from our sins.
