I posted this question on another thread related to a similar topic, but I'll ask it here. After you have clearly explained the plan of salvation, that they are a sinner, that their sins will take them to hell, that there is no way they can save themselves, and that only by trusting in Jesus and His finished work can they be saved, and and the person says they understand, how do you 'draw the net'? I don't want to just lead them in a prayer and have them trust in that prayer or think they are saved when they are not. I get stuck here everytime and am not completely sure how to 'wrap it up'. I am looking for ideas and what has worked for others. I appreciate…

Many are familiar with the errors of Rome but few know what the Orthodox …

This has been a work in progress for me for some time now. It seems to go on a back burner quite often as I have several other projects! With all the discussion regarding Catholicism and seeing that we have some Catholics that have joined us, perhaps it may be of use to those on this forum. I am attempting to write a book with the same title as this thread. When completed, it will have about nine chapters each with a verse of scripture as its title (for example: for there is one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus IITim 2:5). I have the beginning of an introduction and the first chapter pretty much hammered out (although I am always doing some "tweaking"…

TOO BUSY FISHING! It was a warm, windy afternoon on the east coast of China. A breeze rippled the blue waters of the China Sea into little waves that lapped against the muddy shore. Here and there, boats bobbed on the waves. There were tiny letter-boats, which darted swiftly along, paddled by two men. There were sampans, houseboats where whole families lived and worked and slept in small cabins under the sail. There were little fishing boats, full of dark-winged cormorants with rings around their necks, trained to catch fish for their masters. Down a little farther along the coastline was a larger fishing boat, where half a dozen men worked with their net. Bigges…

I feel like I am the only Christian in my family. I know that they know I am different and that I am faithful to church, that I am a Christian. My sister claims to be saved, but there has not been a significant change in her life. She is still into a lot of bad music and bad friends. But, this past week she helped with Neighborhood Bible Time and she invited a couple of friends out who got saved (I think that is great). I know she knows what the truth is, but she doesn't live a seperated life. What would be the best way to confirm her profession? Just ask her point blank? My mom also has made a profession in the past (she also quit smoking and drinking), but I just don't …

As much as I do not like the American Tract Societies tracts, I receive their latest catalog. They are offering an election package that includes things like flags, tract and election registration cards. What a great excuse to go door to door. Simply asking if people are registered to vote, and leaving them a registration form. It is a great way to start in the natural and swing to the spiritual. Many VBS classes are starting up, along with door to door visitations. Please keep this in mind. It is every Americans duty to vote, and what a better way to show you care about our government and your neighbor by witnessing and getting confirmation that they will be voting th…

Today I had the opportunity to witness to a group of four young men. I felt so inadequate but the Lord told me to go and He would give me the words to say. I have to admit but my verse memory is not that great but today I remembered most of the verses in response to questions these young fellas asked. At first they made jokes but I came at them with Gods word in meekness. Oh how I remember being a rebellious teen :( After sharing the gospel and trying to answer as many questions as I could, I shared a small bit of my testimony with them. I also shared with them my burden for their souls. I asked them to read the tracts tonight when their friends weren't with them and rea…

An Agnostic is Converted By Arthur T. Pierson -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This short story is taken from the biography of Arthur T. Pierson, who was pastoring in Detroit, Michigan at the time this encounter takes place in 1876: "At the close of a sermon on 'Abiding in Christ,' according to my custom, I invited any person present who was impressed with his need of Christ to meet me in the inquirer's room. "One young man of about thirty responded. He was tall, stalwart of frame, intelligent, and would have been fine looking but for a cloud that seemed to abide upon his countenance. In fact, his face seemed sc…

I wonder hearing people (preachers, outsiders) win the Deaf to Jesus. What's about you? Why did most hearing preachers fail to win deaf people to Jesus? A true story! An old deaf man was lying on the bed in a nursing home in OK City, OK. He is only one in this nursing home. Many hearing preachers visited there and won hearing lost souls to Jesus. Why not this Deaf man? A deaf preacher from GA visited with someone who know this old man in a nursing home and finally won this deaf man to Jesus. This old man told a GA preacher that he saw many hearing preachers walked by and did not share with him about Jesus. This deaf preacher was shocked to …

(This tract is free to reprint and distribute. http://www.carm.org ) WARNING There are two cults going door-to-door: Mormonism and Jehovah's Witnesses. They claim to be Christian religions, but they are not. Mormonism teaches: - God used to be a man on another planet and Mormon members may become gods of their own worlds.(1) - There are many many gods.(2) - The Trinity is three separate Gods.(3) - Entrance into celestial heaven is by the consent of God and the Mormon prophet Joseph Smith.(4) - God has a body of flesh and bones.(5) - God is married and produces spirit babies by having physical relations with his goddess wife.(6) - Jesus…

My question here is do you think we put to much enfaces on just soulwinning and forget discipling. "The salvation of a soul is the miracle in a moment. The manufacturing of a saint is a work of a lifetime." We're quick to go out and win someone but than we leave them out there not knowing what to do next and they fall back in the same rut that they were in before except this time their miserable because of the chastening hand of God.

I need some input from those of you who have dealt with this. One of the biggest concerns I've seen in the church today is the whole issue of making the Gospel "relevant" to non-believers. Being "seeker sensitive" is the latest politically correct catch-phrase for this. In common practice, this concern expresses itself in the full gammut from using non-KJV Bibles, to using Christian rock. The whole notion is that we must present the Gospel in such a way that those to whom we witness do not have some sort of culture shock in their exposure to the Gospel. In other words, if the unbeliever is to be challenged with something, it should be conviction of sin, and not…

Ok I was asked this question last night . The question they wanted to know (by the way this person also asked their pastor who also didn't have answer for them either) was if a person "gets saved " why do they never want to come to church ? Now I am familiar with this church and with this person and this pastor and I have a reason to put the got saved in quotes. ( they like to use 1 2 3 repeat after me type soulwinning ) They will say thats not so but I have been there with them and they show them a few verses and say I am a sinner your a sinner and everyone is and after they ramble on through maybe 3 more verses they say if you want to go to Heaven pray this pra…

"How do I witness to someone I know, like a family member?" For most of us, it is far easier to witness to a stranger than to someone we know and respect. An effective way to soften the message without compromise is to speak in the "first person" or in testimonial form. Say something like, "I didn
