“And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.” (Acts 4:18) Friends, political persecution is nothing new. The apostles were told not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus. Sounds a lot like todays world, doesn’t it? The political regime seems to be against Christianity, and Christ in general, and yet the work must go on. The apostles did not so much as balk at the laws that forbad witnessing in the name of (on behalf of) Jesus, the kept going, and changed the world. Note that the prayers of the church were not merely for deliverance from the persecution, but for a boldness in preaching the Word. Yes, the work…

here is last months report from the Rock of Ages prison ministry. praise God that He is still saving souls. July 2013 News Letter Patrick Henry said: "It cannot be emphasized to strongly or to often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ". How we thank God for all of you who make it possible for us to serve God in this capacity of reaching inmates for Christ. In June we had a total of 49 services with 1190 inmates out for those services and 192 receiving Jesus Christ as Saviour. May we all reach out to those who are without Christ and see our great land return once again…

Proverbs 24 11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; 12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works? You can call it what you want, encouragement, exhortation, admonishment, even judging; if that’s the way you want to take it. If you want to become huffy, take offense, or even get angry be my guest. It’s obvious to the most casual observer here, when the topic of going out for the express purpose of taking the gospel to people near you the thread gets bu…

The people who come to this forum who are not saved, or have other beliefs, be it Catholic, Calvinistic, or whatever, come here for various reasons. Which could be they are searching for answers, or they have other plans such as converting us. But the people that come here and review the forums and see how some people have been treated, what are they to think? Every person who visits this forum is an opportunity to win to Christ. Sure, a contentious person may come here with other motives, but there is still the opportunity to show them kindness, love, and respect. We seem to be confirming everything they here about, that IFB are a bunch of hateful, pious better than…

I've been friends with someone for a long time who is a very devote Catholic, grew up in very exclusive private catholic schools. And has been very active his whole life in the Catholic church. Anyway, I'm trying to show him some of the errors of the catholic church, and our first stumbling block is communion, he believes it is turned into the body and blood of Christ at that time. Using the verses in the Bible used during communion saying this is my body and my blood.... How do I debate this one?

...and I count it a blessing! I was a member of the forum 1858remington.com and the enemies of Christ (professing Christians) have banned me for quoting God's Word in the off-topic section. I told them I would not cower or be bullied when they could call evil (drinking, smoking, pornography) good and good (God's Word) evil. I am continually amazed at the blindness of the lost, not just to God's Word but to common sense and rational thought processes. It is my hope that while there, some of the men thought about their spiritual conditions and turned to Christ. "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Bl…

Poll Survey: The World’s Mortality Rate Over 162,000 will die on an average day. What is their eternal destiny? Obviously, we have no idea. However, some people have estimated that only 7% of the world’s population adheres to the Biblical plan of salvation. Even if that estimate is totally wrong and the number is actually 70%, that still means that over 48,000 are going to Hell every day. What is the relevancy of these numbers? Should these numbers have any impact on our lives? I’m conducting a poll and would like your opinion on this issue. Totally irrelevant: there is nothing we can do to alter the eternal destiny of these people. Totally rele…

Soul winning tips I am no expert by any means, but I offer some tips I have learned through the years as I knocked on doors all over this city. Some are merely common sense, some are courtesy, but all can be effective. I know no scripture with which to support many of them, but let that not hinder the use of them in the business of winning souls to Christ. 1. Always go by two’s. The old adage “Two is company, and three is a crowd” is true in door-to-door soul winning. Three people standing on a porch can be intimidating, while two is appropriately acceptable. 2. Decide who is gong to do the talking. It is better that one person do the talking while th…

Which Bible version do you regularly read? If you were walking down the street and I came up to you and asked how could I get to heaven, what would you tell me? With all your screen name changes, I've forgotten where your testimony is posted. My memory is not so good and would like to read it again; would you share it with us again here please? Thanks! James

I have posted this in my devotional page , but since it has to do with soul winning, I thought it better here. Mt 13 “But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.” (20,21) We have the parable of the sower in this passage. Here, the peculiar phrase “Yet he hath not root in himself” seems to throw the focus of the passage in a different direction. Note that this guy received the Word with joy, but…

JESUS ON THE CROSS FOR YOU Psalm 22 1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? (Jesus separation from God his Father was his greatest pain.) 2 O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. 3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. 5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. (He felt the shame of the people’s rejection.) 6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised…

A Message from the Grave Luke 16:19-31 19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, an…

Soul winning messages The Maniac of Gadara Mark 5:1-20 We see here several wonderful things about soul winning. Observe: First, Jesus came seeking; It seems, when we read the text, that Jesus had no other reason for sailing to Gadara than to seek out this “maniacal” man. Jesus sought no other man there, but many came to Him as a result of His miracle. He seeks us out too! He goes out of His way for one man’s soul. (The value of a soul) Even this wild man knew where to find peace and healing. This “maniac” met Jesus half-way. He was intrigued by death (a sure sign of devil possession) He was suicidal and masochistic (v. 5) He was desponden…

2 Cor 5 Five reasons for telling others about Christ: 1. 2Co 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” --We will stand before God for NOT telling them! --We have a commission (Mt. 28:19,20) --We are endowed with compassion. (In the outline~ point #3) 2. 2Co 5:11 “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.” --Knowing the judgment of God upon them is a valid reason to warn them. --Satan seeks to…

let's begin a thread for soul winning experiences. They can be humorous, strange, or dangerous, but let's encourage one another in soul winning, without the fear, knowing that the Lord is with us. Try to relate perhaps your most exciting soul winning experience, that others may see the need and realize that they too can be soul winners.

Laying a foundation 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. It seems that too many times, a person is lead in the sinners prayer without a true understanding of the plan of Salvation. When Peter preached to the Jews, he said Acts 3:19 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted,” We have to remember that he was preaching to people who were raised in the Jewish culture and were intimately familiar with the basics such as …

A Solemn Question For Those Who Are Rejecting Christ That They May Obtain the World his own soul?" Mark 8:36 "What shall it profit a man if he shall gain the world, and lose Just read this sermon, and had a wonderful spiritual communion with Christ, and emotional release of tears streaming down the cheeks. It is amazing how sermons of Godly men can stir the soul after centuries pass, making me realize the presents of the spirit of God, spanning days, weeks, months, years, decades, and yes even centuries!

Wonderful And Wonderfully

I walked into a store the other day; as I passed the clerk I said hello and how are you today? She said, “I’m wonderful!” I asked God if I could use this and if he would help me turn this casual exchange toward Jesus Christ. He gave me two thoughts; first, we are wonderfully made, second I could only recall one place where wonderful refered to anyone. When I returned I told her that something she said caught my attention. She said what’s that? So, I was able to tell her that the Bible refers to people as “wonderfully made” but I could only recall one verse which speaks of “wonderful,” and that is in Isaiah where it refers to Jesus Christ. Psalms 139:14 I will praise the…

After working in fast food for my first college year, I am disturbed at some Christians. This maybe for edification, or a slight rant about my upset. First of all, I am tired of "Christians" who behave horribly, have no control over their children and leave huge messes for me to clean up... and then leave a tract on their dirty table... and on the floor. My unsaved co-workers just comment on the lack of backbone the Christians had for not actually handing it to ANY of the workers, but littering the room with them. The only person that actually encouraged me was someone who just asked me if I was saved (I'm sure he just asked because I was wearing a skirt...). I think we …

I found this on another site, and thought it may be appropiate here. I received the following in an email, the author is not known. The lesson from this will be self evident. THE LETTER FROM HELL One day a woman named Louise fell asleep in her bed, and dreamed a very fitful dream. She dreamed that someone in Hell wrote a letter to her, and it was to be delivered to her by a messenger. The messenger passed between the lakes of burning fire and brimstone that occupies Hell, and found his way to the door that would lead him to the outside world. Louise dreamed that the messenger walked to her house, came inside, and gently but firmly woke Louise up. He ga…

Hi All, Haven't posted on here in about a hundred years. I've been washed in the Blood of Christ for more than 60 years and have been a Baptist all that time, although most of the time was in a SBC congregation. I was led to an IFB church about 15 years ago and that was the first time I had ever heard of them. Anyway, the best years of my "church life" was spent in an IFB in California. That was also my first experience with organized soul winning. I have come to the point in my understanding of my relationship with the Lord that it is ALL Him and none of me; that if I do anything of my own accord, I'm dong it in the flesh and therefore not pleasing Him. Unless H…

In the Book of Luke, we find one Anna, who "departed not from the temple" but stayed there and prayed and fasted "night and day." Yes, the Bible says she "served God": Luk 2:36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; Luk 2:37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. No doubt she was criticized for not going soul winning! She did not seem to teach Sunday School, or to work on a bus route. She simply prayed, and fasted so that th…
