Game ratings 1 2
by Anon- 19 replies

Our kids got a Playstation 2 for Christmas and the game ratings really get me! They are not allowed to play ANY "shoot em up" games....except hunting games (like Cabelas). They play sports games and a few cartoon games (like Wallace and Gromit) and then the hunting games...a few racing games as well. What gets me is that the hunting games have a "Teen" rating, same as some of the violent shooting/war/terroristic/demonic games they have out! So shooting a deer in the woods is just as violent as shooting other human beings?! Its amazing, that they devalue human life even as far as rating games for kids goes.

Children accepting Christ 1 2

I know that when children are raised in a good Christian home, they often get saved at a young age. I also know there is an age accountability. When do you know when your child has reached that? Also if I child accepts at a very young age say three four maybe five, don't they often start having doubts of their salvation because they cant remeber everthing that took place so they are not for sure they really accepted Christ or not? The reason I am asking, Sami my daughter that will be four in December told me today she had a broken heart and she wanted Jesus to fix it. she also has been talking about how Jesus died on the cross and has a little picture KJV Bible for tod…

Ok, here is another question/post from little ol' me. When my son was 7 months old, I began letting him CIO (cry it out) at bed time. It was rough for 2 or 3 nights, but after that, he became a superstar at going to bed whenever I laid him down. Shortly after he turned 1 year old, bed times began to get a bit rough. If my son does not feel like going to bed, he will cry and cry and cry. But here's the prOBlem! . . . If I let him cry, he cries himself sick! Which means I have to give him a bath, clean the crib, clean the floor, and put on new sheets. I would let him CIO, but I can't, because he will throw-up if I do. It's easier to let him stay up later until I see he'…

Stubborn child 1 2

My oldest has always been a handful. Even as a tiny crawler, you could smack his hand over and over again for not obeying "no". My other kids all you have to do is say "no" and move them at that age. Not him. He was the only one so far that refused to stay out of the Christmas tree even after...um...many corrections, so we had to move the tree. He is THAT stubborn. Anyway he is constantly breaking something...messing something up...being irresponsible. He digs in the soap all the time after being told not to. He is not responsible for his younger siblings while playing outside (he is nearly 8) and just goes where he has known for years not to go, and allows w…

My daughter will soon be having her fifth birthday. And I praise God for each day He gives me with her. You fathers know the relationship that can only exist between a father and his daughter and how special it is. However, that's not really what I want to talk about here. It's actually about gifts and how they can be adressed. You see, my mother-in-law (who is a member of an IFB church and a SS teacher) called the other day to see if it was okay if she got Julia (my daughter) some "Hannah Montana" underwear and toy make-up and all kinds of stuff. Now, my daughter knows that I don't approve of Hannah Montana and especially not for her age. So, of course, my reactio…

"Christian parents need to understand that the government-operated schools in the USA are propaganda mills for the anti-God, leftist idealism. They are social laboratories in which your children are the guinea pigs. We recommend and urge families to do whatever you must do to get your children out of such incubators." I've heard a lot of people say that when they were growing up that their dad was the "wip cracker" and mom was a little more relaxed. Now I hear and see things the other way. Interesting how as our culture slips farther and farther from God, the less and less the men want to do their job, not only as fathers, but as Christian men in general. But I have also noticed the same with women as well. I just mentioned the men first because if men would do our job and lead the family, for the most part the women in our lives would follow. (I'm already headed off-topic in my own thread - - this could get interesting) So, who is the disciplinarian in your house? Who stic…

I have some strong feelings about this especially in the context of females seeing a male ob/gyn. That said I would even have to think twice about my wife having a GP (general practioner) who is male. I am looking for specific verses or verses that teach the precept of not being naked in front of the opposite sex that is not your spouse.

does any lady here have a husband who is saved and not following the Lord? he isnt in sin so to speak.. but he only goes on sunday and is in to big time, the shortwave radio and all that entails. satan has his eyes turned to saving our gun rights and all that, and he thinks truly , that he is serving the lord that way, and thats his calling! he was saved in 93, and is just gotten worse. any thoughts? thanks. :(

How often do you buy your wife flowers? I admit it my husband often doesn't think of it. That is fine I understand it isn't something on his mind (and he has terrible taste in choosing them), so what I do is I buy me flowers about once a month and thank him for them.

Daniel Joseph Lacombe arrived at 4:05 PM EST yesterday, July 29th to the proud parents, Ken & Theresa. He was 7 pounds 13 ounces and 20 inches tall. Daniel is the younger brother to Abby, Rebecca, & Maggie. (Yes, he is my 1st son!!) Woo Hoo!! Praise the Lord all if well with mom & baby. Also, please pray for me that I may be a good Godly example to my son and that he may come to know the Lord at a young age and serve him as he grows up. Ken Lacombe

I have always heard that a daughter is under her father's authority until she gets married. (Let's assume she's not an old maid, ha ha) Does anyone have any verses they could offer for this? There is a boy whom is courting our daughter (she is at college long distance away) and her father and I feel the boy is encroaching into my husband's authority by expecting her to answer to him. He is quite controlling and it is scaring me and I'm not talking about minor stuff. They are NOT engaged.

I don't want to get into a raging debate about Prov. 22:6 and whether or not it's a promise, a guarantee, a principle or a pithy saying...I have a scenario that I would like to get some feedback on. Let's say that a child is raised by parents who work to raise him or her for the Lord. And the child is normal - OBedient at times, disOBedient at others. If the child becomes an adult and is rather indifferent to things of the Lord (Bible reading isn't that important, church attendance is spotty, etc), many would say that it is the parents' fault because of the way that child was raised. I myself have come down on the side that believes that the rearing of a child determ…

We are trying to protect our Granddaughters 1 2

About four years ago my youngest son's wife had sex with a 15 year old boy and got a 10 years probation. My son tried to work with her and salvage their marriage. However, she fell in "love" with a lesbian and moved in with "it". My son got a divorce and he got custody of his two girls, my granddaughters. They are now 11 and 16. The 16 year old has a mild case of downs. A year or so later my son remarried. The new wife has been very abusive to his two girls. Three or four months ago, with our help and persistence Child Protective Services went to court, removed our granddaughters from my sons home and placed them with my daughter. My granddaughters were appointed an att…

My dad told me to do something well, stupid, and he doesn't want my mom to know about it. If I don't listen to him, I'll get him mad, if I do my mom will get mad when she finds out (she will eventually). I hate getting set up like that. What do you think I should do? Should I post the details (don't really want to ATM)?

I'm wondering how everyone here feels about Santa. I would never tell my son he was real, and I would always put the birth of Jesus and why He came as the absolute center of Christmas! That being said, I'm not 100% anti-Santa. I mean, we watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and we've seen Polar Express. We have even wore Santa hats during Christmas time in the past. But we don't necessarily talk about Santa. It's sort of like a "whatever" kind of thing. We don't visit Santa at the mall or have anyone take pictures with Santa, and we don't draw Santa pictures or have a Santa in our front lawn, and we don't sing songs about him. We a…

Ephesians 6:1-4 1 2

Ephesians 6:1-4 says, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise. That it may be well with thee, that thou mayest live long on the earth. Fathers, provoke not your children to wrath; but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." This is the order of relationships within the Christian family. Children should obey their Christian parents if they want a long life on the earth! Fathers should not harshly discipline their children but bring them up the teaching of the Lord! :coffee :coffee :coffee

What is your philosophy about letting kids "fit in"? Mine is that as long as something is not bad or overly costly, that I don't see a problem with making sure my kids feel a part of things or not left out. I know there were some times in my childhood that I felt VERY left out because my parents chose not to allow something because they'd rather save the money (and I'm not talking about great expenses here...). Because of that, I have sort of determined that if my kids would like something at school or if the school is doing something, if we can do it, we will because there is nothing wrong with it. Anyone else?
