One of the blessings of growing older as a Christian is you get to look back over the years and see just where God has shaped events in your life for the good. I made some pretty stupid decisions in my younger years, but as I reflect I see just how God maneuvered things in such a way (even when I was not walking with Him) that led me directly to the wife He wanted me to have. How happy I am that I heeded his guidance, especially during those dark times, and waited for God's help meet for me. Today we celebrate 25 years together as man and wife and I cannot think of anyone else that I would rather spend or share my time with. She is my best friend, my confidant, and I …

To Mothers and grand Mothers! Titus 2:3-5 3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Looking for suggestions as to how to handle family bdays, cookouts, etc. on Sundays? Most of my family members and friends go to more liberal churches where there is no sun eve or wed service. We go to all services and are looked at as legalistic or unloving if we do not skip services to attend other family events. I don't do this in a mean spirit, my family and I are committed to serving The Lord who saved us and worshiping as a church family. Am I wrong in this? Or unloving? Should we be more flexible?

My Mission Field My wife and son and I moved into our home in a small town in 1978. We have seen many families come and move on since then. I noticed a post by a girl on face book that was done by one of my former neighbors. She was indicating her appreciation for Jesus who saved her by grace. Many years ago we took her to bible school where she accepted Jesus into her heart. This caused me to think about the many people we have affected in our lifetime. Our neighbor became my wife’s best friend. Our families ate together and played rook for 20 years. During that time we took the neighbors daughter to bible school where she also got saved. When she got home she ta…

There is an issue that recently happened in my church that has left me feeling disappointed in the leadership. I will try to make this as brief as possible. A senior, widow lady, and a senior, widower man, both in their 80s, recently got married at my church (independent Baptist) I later learned they did not obtain a state issued marriage license and the pastor that conducted the ceremony did not require it. Now they are going around representing themselves as "married". I feel as though the pastor that conducted the ceremony is helping the couple defraud the government. And if he can preform a "commitment-marriage" ceremony for them why can't another couple, who …

When I was young, my wife and I went to a counselor once a month over a few years. He helped us to communicate. You see men and women don't speak the same language. It was then that I learned about kicking the dog. You see, when your wife or your boss bites your head off and you don’t know why, you may be the dog. Being the dog is not fun, but it is a back handed complement. You ask how can it be a complement? You see, the person doing the kicking considers you a safe target, when they can’t kick the person or thing that has caused most of the pain. If you can control your feelings while being kicked and ask questions about your wife’s feelings you ma…

Young Ladies For the young ladies meeting. (A brief benediction) Girls, these are evil days we live in; there are a lot of people out there that will destroy you if you let them. You are approaching the time of life when decisions are crucial, and will make some decisions that can affect your entire lives. To make a wrong decision will bring pain and misery for many, many years to come. By now, most adults here can remember a decision that they would rather forget; they did something perhaps that cannot be undone; they have to live with those decisions. We hope to spare you much heartache, much anxiety, and maybe even mental anguish with this les…

I belong to a Christian dating site. I REALLY hate it but how else will you meet someone these days. At church I think everyone is married (with exception of a very few). Plus it's a small church. Anyway, as I look through the endless profiles of professing Christians I can't help but notice a great deal of hypocrisy. There are many who say they are Baptist (or other conservative denominations) and have that they drink and/or smoke. Some even pose with their shirt off. It bothers me when I read this nor am I impressed by such behavior. Not that I expect everyone to live as I do, but I do believe that this man should have higher standards then the average person. Am I…

Am I permitted to advertise my own book here? In July 2010 the Lord our God graciously allowed me to self-publish a book entitle - "God's Wisdom for Marriage & The Home." The book is 446 pages long. The list price for the paperback is $22.99. I am able to sell the paperback for $17.00 + shipping. It can be purchased from my website - Shepherding the Flock Ministries. I know this isn't the best category where my topic should be, but couldn't figure out where else to put it. As I posted in one of my previous topics, I need prayers because I have doubts about God, and I also noted that I have problems at school. In my opinion, this isn't a problem that should be taken lightly, so I want some counsel from you. We all know that the Lord Jesus Christ was greatly persecuted in His days, and also His disciples saw a great persecution. He forewarned us of that. We also know that throughout the centuries there were faithful disciples who were persecuted and put to death many times, and they still endured and were content in the Lord. I …

Hello I am wondering something for awhile now and I would like to know a few things. First In the past we had problems with my one sister and her three children not respecting us, while we were stating things Biblically to them about how they were growing up they lashed out. Anyhow when it comes to Christmas time they are very nice , they are talked into by my mom to get us gifts and exchange and be polite but, when the holidays are gone they hardly talk to us especially facebook. When we go to visit my parents area , my one sister with three kids will not come around I understand that she works alot that is fine but, when I ask she calls my mom and complains. This p…

I have always heard that a daughter is under her father's authority until she gets married. (Let's assume she's not an old maid, ha ha) Does anyone have any verses they could offer for this? There is a boy whom is courting our daughter (she is at college long distance away) and her father and I feel the boy is encroaching into my husband's authority by expecting her to answer to him. He is quite controlling and it is scaring me and I'm not talking about minor stuff. They are NOT engaged.

This article is brought to you in part by Kita's Cookies, of which I consumed many while writing this. Thanks Kitagrl!!! ----- I am a flag waver. I blink back the tears at the sounding of the national anthem, my heart swells with pride when hearing the stories of my country's history. I believe America is a nation blessed by God and has been used by God to do more for the cause of Christ than any other nation. She's come a long way, baby. According to Revelation 13, there will come a day in the future when the world will submit to one man who is indwelt by Satan himself. The world will operate on one currency, one socialist-communist political system with …

The battle for God's institution of marriage and family was pointed out in another thread. So, we should be arming ourselves with God's word and understanding what they mean. I hope others here will add to this thread discussion about the scriptures below and other scriptures which support the God ordained relationship between men-women-children-family. Add other scriptures and point out the relevance to support the Christian position. We all know marriage-family as created by God is the image of our relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior. What is the scripture below telling us... Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let…

Hello. I'm a first time mom and I have an 11-month old son. I want to start him early with Bible reading, but I don't know when to begin. I don't think that he will be able to understand (or even focus his attention) for long enough to read anything to him. We have a few books that have Bible stories in them... should I just start there? I have a friend who actually plays an audio Bible for their children while they are sleeping, but I'm not sure how effective that actually is. Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

A Woman of God it makes me think of someone who is completely trusting in God for everything someone who follows the bible and goes souly by what it says. I have really been challenged a lot this year about that so I will take the time to go through what the bible says I am putting in three Categories. A Christian Woman should be not that of a harlot. Lets take a look at Probverbs 7 and see some of the Characteristics of the harlot. Probverbs 7:10-12 10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtle of heart. 11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: 12 Now is she without, now in th…

Is there still a man like Boaz? *Boaz believed in God. "And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you.." (Ruth 2:4a) *Boaz had a good relationship with other people. "And they answered him, The LORD bless thee." (Ruth 2:4b) *Boaz was kind and helpful. "Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens: Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? And when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have dr…

My son Jeff lives in Coventry - he has two children, Naomi (6) & William (3) William is 30 seconds into the video - eating a biscuit. This should have been a Christian marriage but sadly Louise has decided she wants a divorce from a loving & supportive husband & Daddy.
